Redshirt senior RB Venric Mark has decided to transfer from Northwestern.

This is a bit of a shock. Mark was suspended by Northwestern coaches for the first two games of the 2014 season "for a violation of team policy," but when on the field the Wildcats used Mark as a workhorse back. Mark says he wants to play closer his family (he is from Texas). The redshirt senior is one class away from getting his degree, so we are not sure if he will be eligible to play immediately for an FBS program. Mark missed a large portion of last season due to an ankle injury.

Former Auburn junior DL Elijah Daniel transferred to Murray State.

In June, it was reported that Daniel had transferred to Youngstown State to play for Bo Pelini. Apparently, those plans hit a snag, because the dismissed former Tiger has enrolled at Murray State instead. "I have told Elijah that we are willing to give him this opportunity, because I believe, large or small, everyone makes mistakes and most people are deserving of a second chance," HC Mitch Stewart said in a statement. "But I also made it clear to him, that this is his last chance and that any further incidents like the one at Auburn would be met with an immediate dismissal from the team." Daniel's 17 quarterback hurries led Auburn last year.

Michigan senior WR Dennis Norfleet was granted a transfer release this summer but can still potentially return to the team, according to Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh.

He's been suspended since May due to academics. "A plan was put into place for Dennis where he could accomplish all of his goals athletically and academically," Harbaugh said. "Our desire is that he gets his Michigan degree, and that plan hasn't changed from our viewpoint and the conversations I've had with Dennis." Harbaugh declined further comment, so it's hard to peg the odds that Norfleet will play for the Wolverines this fall. The 5-foot-7, 168-pounder is best on special teams. He had 938 return yards in 2013.

Utah HC Kyle Whittingham said senior Travis Wilson remains the school's starting QB.

Whittingham expects Kendal Thompson to push Wilson, who started much of last season but was benched for a stretch during the UCLA game. Both have starting experience since Wilson has a history of head injuries. The Utes will rely heavily on running back Devontae Booker but like to spread defenses out with spacing and quick passes.

UCLA head coach Jim Mora Jr. said six or seven players could see time on both sides of the ball.

Junior linebacker Myles Jack has previously seen time at running back, but other possibilities include redshirt junior cornerback Ishmael Adams and junior defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes. Many of the six or seven would likely have limited "roles" on their non-strong side of the ball, but we wonder if Mora is leaving the possibility open so future recruits don't feel restricted after many played both ways in college.

Clemson sophomore WR Artavis Scott led the FBS in yards after catch last season with an average of 12.4 yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

Clemson continues to reload on offense. Scott teams up with Mike Williams, who Josh Norris recently ranked as the ACC's top draft-eligible receiver. Add on Deshaun Watson and running back Wayne Gallman, and Clemson will likely shift from a team with a defensive focus to offensive. The biggest hurdle might be replacing former OC, now SMU HC, Chad Morris.

Hawaii head coach Norm Chow said four former Pac-12 transfer will start for the Warriors this season.

Those four include: former USC quarterback Max Wittek, former Utah receiver Quinton Pedroza, former UCLA linebacker Jeremy Castro and former Arizona linebacker Makani Kema-Kaleiwahe. Wittek has always been considered a strong armed passer and started in place of an injured Matt Barkley a few years ago.

FSU HC Jimbo Fisher says junior Jalen Ramsey can play S, but his NFL position is CB.

Fisher said Ramsey is "like Xavier Rhodes but faster. Taller." Rhodes has continued his development in the NFL after his first-round selection. Ramsey is an outstanding athlete who shines in all phases of defensive back play. That phrase is not commonly said among coverage defenders at the college level.

Akron is still not recognizing dismissed Oklahoma State junior WR/RB Tyreek Hill on their roster.

Hill was dismissed back in December following domestic abuse charges, and an anonymous SEC coach ripped the former Cowboy for his "repulsive" twitter account during the football player's recruitment. Hill reportedly transferred to Akron, but the change in school might not have happened after all. "Tried to get Akron to confirm he was joining the team a couple times since he announced. Nada," ESPN writer David Ubben tweeted.

Texas A&M HC Kevin Sumlin called sophomore DE Myles Garrett a blend of Adrian Peterson, Jean-Claude Van Damme and a cat.

Incredible. Let's break this down. Sumlin says Garrett has Peterson's explosion, Van Damme's flexibility and strength and a cat's body contortion. "We call him Batman," says Sumlin, "because his body looks like the costume." Garrett was one of the top SEC defenders last season in just his first year in college football. Expect the Texas A&M defense to take a step forward this season.

USF redshirt sophomore QB Asiantii Woulard is applying for a waiver to earn immediate eligibility after transferring from UCLA.

Woulard spent two seasons at UCLA but never saw game action. The former four-star recruit is already attending summer classes and is from the Florida area, so the reason for the waiver is transferring closer to home for family reasons. If no waiver is granted, Woulard will practice with the team all season and be eligible to play next year.

Michigan State junior RB Delton Williams will officially rejoin the football team in mid-August.

He will be a non-scholarship athlete. Williams was suspended last spring after brandishing a firearm in public and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. The school opens practice on August 8, and Williams return August 14. He was the school's third leading rusher last year, but the Spartans are still looking to replace Jeremy Langford.
