Ohio State redshirt freshman QB J.T. Barrett is expect to start if senior QB Braxton Miller misses time after re-injuring his throwing shoulder.

The news out of Columbus has not been positive as Miller is undergoing an MRI on Tuesday. The longtime starting quarterback had been recovering from shoulder surgery which took place in February. Barrett enrolled at Ohio State in January of 2013 and was recovering from his own injury (knee). The redshirt freshman was a hand-picked recruit by Urban Meyer, and some scouting services even rated Barrett as a four-star cornerback.

Redshirt freshman David Cornwell is pressing, "maybe even surpassing," senior Jacob Coker for Alabama's starting QB job.

Coker transferred from FSU prior to last year, and many believed he would overtake Blake Sims for the starting job early or later in the season. That never happened. Now it seems that Cornwell, a former four-star recruit, might be overtaking the highly touted transfer. Expect Alabama to rely even more on their running game no matter who is starting at quarterback.

Notre Dame has reinstated senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams.

Williams was another name involved in the academic fraud investigation and was dismissed from the team last August. He was expected to start for the Irish prior to that incident. He stands around 6'5/271 lbs and has rushed the passer from a three and two point stance.

He was the No. 230 overall according recruit coming out of high school, according to Rivals.com.

Oklahoma redshirt senior LB Frank Shannon has returned to the team, according to teammate Zach Sanchez.

Sanchez announced the news, which has not been confirmed by the school, on Twitter. Shannon was suspended by the university for the entire 2014 season after he was accused of sexual assault. Charges were later dropped. Shannon led the Sooners in tackles with 92 as a redshirt sophomore in 2013.

North Carolina Central wide receiver/kick returner Adrian Wilkins will enter this year's supplemental draft.

Wilkins doesn't have a great shot to get picked, but he should be in a camp this summer fighting for a roster spot. The 5-foot-8, 175-pounder averaged more than 20 yards per kick return last season -- he added 50 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns -- and that's where he's going to have to make it in the NFL, at least initially. He had five special teams touchdowns (three on kickoffs, two on punt returns) in 2013. Wilkins is the second player to enter the 2015 NFL Supplemental Draft, following West Georgia's Darrius Caldwell.

UAB president Ray Watts will file notice with the NCAA to bring football back to the school, according to Fox 6's Alan Collins.

Watts previously said the decision was to be voted for on June 1. Collins adds new UAB athletic director Mark Ingram "will form committee to raise money to upgrade facilities to raise $13 to $20 million." If you are scratching your head, you are not alone. Watts and company eliminated UAB football, so a number of the players transferred. Now he wants to bring it back, without players, which sets the school back years. The original decision was the wrong one, and if Watts keeps his job through it we will be at a loss for words.

UCLA HC Jim Mora is trying to model his program after an NFL franchise.

"There's really only one way I've ever done it, which is an NFL way," Mora said, "so I operate with that in mind, still being cognizant of the fact that I'm dealing with younger athletes. I try to teach them professional ways to do things." Mora was Seattle's head coach in 2009. He is 29-11 in three seasons at UCLA. "It’s a real advantage for [players] to be in an environment that's operating at a professional level with professional coaches, because every kid that comes here on scholarship has that dream in their head, that, 'I want to go to the NFL,'" said Mora.

Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw said Thursday that he is in negotiations to upgrade the Bears' nonconference schedule over the next five years.

"We’re having some interesting discussions right now," McCaw said. "We’re certainly open to playing a Power 5 team not every year, but a good number of years." Baylor, of course, narrowly missed the playoffs last year, mostly because of its weak nonconference schedule. It gets no better in 2015, as Baylor plays SMU, Lamar and Rice. In the future, the Bears have commitments to play Northwestern (La.) State (2016), Liberty (2017), UTSA (2017-19), Abilene Christian (2018), Incarnate Word (2019) and Louisiana Tech (2020-22). "We’re in a different spot than we were when we scheduled the teams last year and this year," McCaw said. "Obviously, as we’ve won back-to-back Big 12 championships and our program is on the national stage and we’re recruiting at an extremely high level, we’re able to take on a higher level of competition."

Former Iowa redshirt sophomore OLB John Kenny transferred to Arizona.

Kenny will sit out this season and then two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2016. "Excited to continue chasing my dreams at another great program!" he wrote on Twitter. "Thank you Iowa for blessing me with great friends and countless memories that will last a lifetime. A new journey starts shortly in Tucson." Kenny was a three-star recruit who hadn't yet cracked the top two on the depth chart.

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer said Friday that he hasn't considered moving graduate QB Braxton Miller to another position.

Some would like to see Miller turned into a sort of slash player, but he's good enough, as a former Heisman contender, to win the job outright. "Barrett may have broken records, and Jones is the flavor of the month," ESPN's Brian Bennett wrote. "But Miller has a longer track record than either of them and will fight like crazy to avoid getting Wally Pipped. Let the best man win. But we'd all be crazy -- and dismissive of his illustrious past -- to count Braxton Miller out of the race."

Notre Dame redshirt junior DB KeiVarae Russell's suspension has been lifted.

He has rejoined the Fighting Irish football team. Russell missed the 2014 season during an academic fraud investigation. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defensive back, who has 26 career starts, has 109 career tackles and three interceptions. He was arguably Notre Dame's best defensive back before his suspension.
