Oregon junior RB Bryan Marshall is being "overshadowed" by the younger ball carriers on the team.

Marshall is "adjusting to a bigger workload slowly," according to beat writer Andrew Greif. Apparently head coach Mark Helfrich has said Oregon wants to expand Marshall's blocking and receiving. Sophomore Thomas Tyner and freshman Royce Freeman have impressed during preseason work.

Virginia redshirt senior QB Kurt Benkert completed 19-of-29 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns in Friday's 42-23 win over Boise State.

Benkert looked fantastic in the win. He would have put up even more gaudy statistics had the Cavaliers not raced away on the scoreboard after halftime. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder fired off two of his first three touchdown passes in the second quarter before putting a bow on his night via a rocket of a deep ball that hit Andre Levrone perfectly in stride from 64 yards out with less than two minutes gone off the clock in the third quarter. Benkert has been on fire to start the season, throwing for 1,249 yards with a 10/1 TD/INT ratio in just four games. The Cavaliers will look to improve to 4-1 against Duke on October 7. They're off on bye next weekend.

Utah sophomore QB Tyler Huntley was forced out with an apparent injury in the second quarter of Friday's game against Arizona.

Huntley landed hard on his shoulder after taking a sack while scrambling midway through the second quarter. Troy Williams subsequently took over for him at signal-caller. We'll pass along further information when available.

Boise State senior WR Cedrick Wilson caught 13 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 42-23 loss to Virginia.

The Broncos' offense looked downright lost at times in the demolition-of-a-loss, but Wilson played stupendously even in the face of this embarrassment. He capped off his stellar evening's work with a 40-yard touchdown grab sprinting down the field in the closing minutes of the contest. That drew the Broncos to within the 42-23 final. Despite Boise State's issues with consistency this season, Wilson is now working to a studly 29-489-3 receiving line through four games.

Utah redshirt junior S Chase Hansen (undisclosed) is expected to play in Friday's game against Arizona.

Hansen (6'3/220) was sidelined for fall camp, but managed to play in the Utes' first two games of the season before sitting against San Jose State this past Saturday. His return is no doubt a welcome one for the Utes -- Hansen had registered 14 tackles to lead the team through the first two games of the season. He earned Pac-12 honorable mention for the 2016 season after recording 90 tackles (7.5 for loss), three interceptions, three forced fumbles and nine passes defended.

Boise State junior QB Brett Rypien (head) took warm-ups with the first team and is expected to start Friday's game against Virginia.

As expected. Rypien missed last week's win over New Mexico due to a head injury sustained in a loss to Washington State the weekend prior. Since then, he has gone through practice without issue in the lead-up to Friday night's dance with the Cavaliers and now looks to be good-to-go versus Bronco Mendenhall's crew. Montell Cozart will return to a backup role, though he could see a few packages during the contest.

The Big 12 has extended commissioner Bob Bowlsby through June, 2025.

"To have a valiant and committed leader and someone who understands athletics as well as anyone in this country leading our conference is something that is very much important to the league," said conference chairman of the board of directors Gordon Gee. Bowlsby has served as the Big 12's commissioner since 2012. He will be 73 years old at the end of the extension.

Uncommitted five-star 2018 WR Ahmon-Ra St. Brown would like to take an official visit to Ohio State.

If this were to come to pass, it could potentially be a game-changer. St. Brown, Rivals' No. 4 overall prospect in the 2018 class, has been most heavily linked to Stanford and USC. However, there has always been a low-grade rumble that Ohio State or Michigan could potentially start to make some noise for the top receiver in the cycle. No player -- on offense or defense -- was more impressive on the camp circuit than St. Brown this offseason.

UNC redshirt junior WR Thomas Jackson (knee) will miss the remainder of the season.

Jackson suffered a meniscus injury in Saturday's win over Old Dominion. He had a 7-97-2 line through two-plus games this year after finishing with 17 catches for 186 yards and four touchdowns last season. With Jackson done and Rontavius Groves and Dazz Newsome both questionable for Saturday's game against Duke, look for Anthony Ratliff-Williams to be targeted more in the passing game.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports that "most" west coast scouts believe Washington junior T Trey Adams is a "lock" first-round prospect.

Scouts are intrigued, Pauline writes, by Adams' "size, ability in pass protection and future potential." The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Adams struggled in the opener against Rutgers but has since gotten back on track. "No one has told me Adams is perceived as a can’t-miss left tackle, but all agree he will be a starter somewhere at the next level," Pauline wrote. "The expectations from those close to the situation is Adams will enter the draft off a good campaign." Adams ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect on Mel Kiper's first Big Board.

South Florida senior QB Quinton Flowers completed 8-of-20 passes for 98 yards and ran for two touchdowns in a 43-7 route of Temple on Thursday.

Flowers (6'0/215) got off to an atrocious start throwing the football, but he wasn't helped much by his wide receivers, nor the fact that his offensive line seemed to jump on every other play. Things did get better as the game went on, but he was much more effective on the ground than he was on the air. His first touchdown came with 6:55 left in the first half; a 22-yard scamper with a nifty juke move near the 10-yard line to give the Bulls a 17-0 lead. The second score was a one-yard plunge to make it 43-7 in the middle of the fourth. Flowers ability to run the football is obviously impressive, but he's going to have to be crisper with his passing if he's going to lead South Florida to an AAC championship and possible New Year's Six game.

Arkansas HC Bret Bielema said on his radio show that sophomore RB Devwah Whaley will play on Saturday against Texas A&M.

Earlier today, it was reported that Whaley had gotten into a scuffle with a teammate in the locker room. Bielema called the incident "minor," and said it won't effect his status for the game on Saturday against the Aggies.
