Clemson RB Zac Brooks will miss the 2014 season due to a broken foot.

Brooks will reportedly redshirt the season and have two more years of eligibility. He is one of the team's primary backups at running back and offers more power than other ball carriers on the roster. It is a position of depth for the Tigers. Brooks rushed for and two touchdowns 246 yards on 48 carries last year.

Washington State senior S Shalom Luani was arrested and charged with second-degree felony assault early Wednesday morning.

Per the Pullman Police Department, Luani allegedly broke the nose of a patron at Dominos during an altercation on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder was a key piece in Washington State's defense last season. He started all 13 games and recorded 90 tackles (3.0 for loss) while intercepting four passes. Potential punishment from HC Mike Leach and the Cougars has yet to be publicly announced.

Arizona State redshirt sophomore QB Manny Wilkins worked with the first-team offense during ASU's walk-through for the season-opener.

Wilkins hasn't officially been named the starter over highly-lauded recruit Brady White, but for all intents and purposes, HC Todd Graham has shown his hand. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Wilkins was a four-star recruit, himself, for the 2014 cycle. He brings a dual-threat aspect to the table that White (who is more of a pure passer) does not. Wilkins isn't taking his job for granted, though, saying, "The way we both look at it is, whoever goes out there and starts, the other guy is one play away."

LSU redshirt senior WR Travin Dural returned to practice on Tuesday after recovering from a hand injury.

The hand injury was minor, but Dural has had to overcome a lot this offseason. Most notably, Dural finished last season on the sideline due to a disconnected hamstring. That injury plus poor dietary choices resulted in a 30 pound weight gain. Dural is seemingly back in shape and should team with Malachi Dupre as one of the SEC's top duos.

LSU junior RB Leonard Fournette has shed his walking boot and is expected to practice on Thursday.

Fournette sustained the ankle injury in mid-August and has been held out since. "He was running today and yesterday. And next time we take the field, my guess is, he’ll be practicing," Les Miles said. Fournette should be on track to play in the season opener against Wisconsin on September 3, but even if he does not take on a full workload Derrius Guice might be the best backup in the nation.

Former LSU QB Anthony Jennings has been named the starter for Louisiana-Lafayette.

Jennings left as a graduate this summer, as he was behind Brandon Harris on the depth chart. Jennings has starting experience and should pair nicely with one of the best running backs in the country in Elijah McGuire.

Auburn freshman WR Kyle Davis fully practiced on Tuesday after recovering from a foot injury.

Davis had surgery on his foot in July. His return could be a huge boost to the Tigers offense, as Davis was considered a top 10 recruit by some services and enrolled early. "Davis is one of at least three Auburn freshman receivers who is expected to have a significant role in the Tigers' offense this season," beat writer Tom Green notes. He missed spring activities due to a shoulder injury. Auburn needs to be far better on offense than they were last year.

Baylor HC Jim Grobe says senior CB Travon Blanchard may miss multiple games with a meniscus injury.

Already thin as is, the Bears' defense could ill-afford to lose its starting nickel back. Fortunately, the early-season slate is filled with cream puffs, so the coaches presumably want Blanchard to regroup for Big 12 play. "Travon Blanchard might have a meniscus," Grobe said. "Not something that has me alarmed right now." Blanchard will have his knee examined. Grobe doesn't expect that evaluation to reveal a significant injury.

South Carolina reported 23 violations of NCAA or SEC rules in the past year.

Of those infractions, nine involved the football team, six of them occurring since Will Muschamp was named head coach. Only one of the infractions was classified higher than a minor Level III. Some of them were pretty ticky-tack, like former HC Steve Spurrier telling the media that the daughter of a former NFL player was visiting campus or a quality control coordinator using a headset while in the press box to talk with the coaches on the field. If the NCAA penalizes the Gamecocks, it shouldn't be much more than a slap on the wrist.

Ohio senior QB J.D. Sprague has left the program.

It appears Sprague will be hanging up the cleats for good barring a change of heart. This spring, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. The disorder often results in a numbing of the fingers, as blood flow from the neck to the armpit area is constricted by nerves in the upper-chest. While the procedure was successful, Sprague just hasn't been able to return to football-shape. "He is concerned about his health right now," said HC Frank Solich of his decision. "He’s lost a lot of weight, he’s been unable to get his strength up to where he wants it. All of that has had an affect on him." The quarterback finishes his Bobcats career having thrown for 2,219 yards (51.5% completions) with a 10/8 TD/INT ratio. With Sprague out of the picture, the starting job for 2016 will go to either redshirt senior Greg Windham or redshirt freshman Quinton Maxwell.

Indefinitely suspended Notre Dame senior CB Devin Butler has been formally charged with resisting law enforcement and battery of a police officer.

These were the expected charges following Butler's altercation with law enforcement outside of the Linebacker Lounge over the weekend. They arrived on the scene after a report of a patron fighting with security. According to the probable cause affidavit, the 6-foot, 195-pounder pushed a police officer and tackled him to the ground before a taser was used to settle the wideout. Both charges being levied against him are Level 6 felonies carrying up to 2 1/2 years in prison. Notre Dame has a policy to dismiss students arrested on felony charges, but for the time being, Butler remains indefinitely suspended with the team.

Wisconsin redshirt senior C Dan Voltz retired from football due to injury concerns.

Voltz tore the ACL and lateral meniscus in his right knee last October. The 6-foot-3, 311-pounder was a three-year starter at center, but hoped to shift over to left guard following that debilitating injury. He indicated that his retirement was due to multiple factors and not just that blow to his knee. "This program’s been a big part of my life for going on five years now," said Voltz. "It’s something I deeply care about." In Voltz's place, Micah Kapoi and Jon Dietzen both figure to see opportunities at left guard this coming season, with Kapoi the probable favorite to start.
