Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman writes "don't be surprised" if former Tennessee HC Butch Jones receives interest for the open head-coaching position at Arizona.

Arizona fired Rich Rodriguez on Tuesday night. Feldman passes along that he has heard that Wildcats AD Dave Heeke "loves" Jones. The two men worked together at Central Michigan when Jones was head coach at the program from 2007-09. In addition to the former Tennessee head man, Feldman also believes that former Texas A&M HC Kevin Sumlin could draw a look, here.

Alabama received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 DE Braylen Ingraham.

Miami, Florida and Oregon were the other three serious contenders in the mix for Ingraham's pledge. There was some momentum toward a potential Hurricanes pledge, but it would appear that his official visit to Alabama at the end of September may have worked to turn the tide (as it were). On the 247Sports composite board, Ingraham checks in as the No. 289 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Tulsa HC Philip Montgomery said that redshirt sophomore QB Luke Skipper (undisclosed) will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Skipper (6'2/211) last saw the field against Temple, on Sept. 22. He has missed each of the last three games, with redshirt freshman Seth Boomer starting in his place for that trio of contests. Looks like it'll be Boomer from here on out, now, with Chad President serving backup duty. Prior to going down injured, Skipper had thrown for a meager 716 yards (58.6-percent completions) with a 4/6 TD/INT ratio.

Miami freshman RB Lorenzo Lingard (knee) will undergo surgery.

Lingard (6'0/195) injured his left knee in practice on Monday. The exact nature of his knee injury is not public knowledge, but it should be noted that the team has not yet ruled him out for the campaign. Miami's statement on the surgery indicated that a recovery timetable would be formulated following the procedure. The five-star freshman has already played in six games, so out of luck on a redshirt, here, barring a medical hardship waiver or the like. Lingard has flashed for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just 17 carries this season, but has not received a touch since Sept. 22. Count it as a depth blow for the Hurricanes. Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas have been working as Miami's top two backs this year, and will continue to do so moving forward.

Tulane redshirt senior QB Jonathan Banks will not start Saturday's game against Tulsa.

The writing might have been on the wall for this one several weeks ago, when Banks was benched in favor of Justin McMillan after just a pair of drives in an Oct. 6 loss to Cincinnati. Following a bye week, the redshirt senior came out to throw for 153 yards and an interception (with 34 yards rushing and a score) in this past Saturday's defeat at the hands of SMU. For the campaign, Banks has accounted for just seven touchdowns between his aerial and ground work.

TCU dismissed senior WR KaVontae Turpin following his Sunday arrest for an alleged assault.

Turpin (5'9/157) was arrested on Sunday and charged with bodily injury of a family member, a Class A misdemeanor. He was released from jail on Monday. This is the senior's second arrest this year, as he was also arrested on suspicion of battery of a household member in March. The speedy wideout has served not only as a weapon in the offense, but also as a dynamic return man, during his time in the program. His 2018 season ends with Turpin having caught 29 passes for 410 yards and three touchdowns, plus 12 kickoff returns for 312 yards and a score and nine punt returns for 175 yards and a score. TCU is now down their opening starting QB (Shawn Robinson is done for the year with a shoulder injury) and one of their most dynamic skill-position talents as they prep for Saturday's game against Kansas.

Alabama junior TE Irv Smith is making "first-round noise," according to ESPN's Todd McShay.

McShay says Smith is one of the most underrated prospects in this next draft class, pointing to his "very good speed and athleticism" and projecting him to be "a tough matchup in the NFL, especially when in multiple-TE sets." Smith (6'4/241) only has adequate size, but he's showed to be an extremely dangerous receiving weapon in Alabama's devastating offense.

Boston College HC Steve Addazio says sophomore RB A.J. Dillon (ankle) is on course to return Friday against Miami.

Tremendous news for Boston College, as Dillon has returned to practice and is trending towards a triumphant return in a big spot against the Hurricanes. Dillon has been out since suffering the injury in the Sept. 29 game against Temple.

LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Munson announced that junior LB Devin White's half-game suspension against Alabama will stand.

White was ejected in the second half of Saturday’s victory over Mississippi State after being flagged for a (everyone agrees on this) ticky-tack targeting penalty on MSU QB Nick Fitzgerald. Since the penalty came after halftime, White was automatically suspended for the first half of the following game. Unfortunately for LSU, that meant the first two quarters of next Saturday’s game against Alabama. LSU AD Joe Alleva spoke with SEC officials in an attempt to get the suspension overturned to no effect. "Discussions with the SEC made clear there is no process for appeal," Munson said. "The suspension will stand." White, a potential Top-10 NFL Draft pick who has 76 tackles and 7.5 TFL, will likely be replaced in the first half against Bama by sophomore Patrick Queen.

Ohio State sophomore WR Austin Mack underwent foot surgery on Tuesday and is out indefinitely.

Mack suffered the left foot injury in Saturday's 49-20 loss to Purdue. Mack had been working to a nice little 26-331-1 line this year. Binjimen Victor is listed as Mack's backup on the depth chart and is a natural candidate to see an increase in field time and targets going forward.

Clemson redshirt senior K Greg Huegel's appeal for a sixth season of eligibility has been denied by the NCAA.

It was worth a shot. In 2014, Huegel was a freshman student at Clemson -- not a football payer. He walked on to the Tigers football team a year later. Huegel also tore his ACL last September. A confluence of the two lost seasons gave his appeal some validity, but the NCAA, as is their wont, failed to see it his way. TigerNet.com reported that that the NCAA "ruled that his freshman year he was eligible to kick even though he wasn’t on the team." Huegel was knocked out for the season late last September after tearing his ACL.

Michigan State senior WR Felton Davis III will undergo season-ending Achilles tendon surgery on Friday.

Davis suffered the injury in Saturday's loss to Michigan and was carted off the field. He'll next turn his attention to rehab, and then preparations for the 2019 NFL Draft. "Felton has got an Achilles tear, so he's out for the season, obviously, but he'll bounce back and have a successful pro career," HC Mark Dantonio said. "We've had quite a few injuries to wide receivers this year, but you gotta deal with it. That's part of the game. Nobody is crying." Prior to the season, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline stamped Davis with a fifth-round grade.
