Rivals' Neal McCready reports that Arizona and former HC Les Miles have "mutual interest."

Arizona is casting about for a replacement of HC Rich Rodriguez, who was fired on Tuesday night. This is not the first time Miles has been linked to a job this winter. He was also said to be intrigued by the Tennessee job before that was filled by Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt. He's been out of the coaching ranks since LSU fired him four games into the 2016 season.

Following Saturday's 21-7 loss to Michigan, Michigan State HC Mark Dantonio said that redshirt junior QB Brian Lewerke is the unquestioned starter.

Lewerke had the worst day of his career Saturday, as he completed 5-for-25 passes for 66 yards before being replaced by redshirt freshman Rocky Lombardi late in the fourth quarter. But that has done nothing to change the redshirt junior's status moving forward in the eyes of Dantonio. Something to keep an eye on moving forward is Lewerke's health, as Dantonio said that the starting QB did not practice at all this week due to an undisclosed health issue.

Memphis junior RB Darrell Henderson has headed back to the locker room with an apparent injury suffered on Saturday against Missouri.

Henderson was seen on the sidelines trying to stretch out and get back into the game, but the Tigers are sending him back to the locker room. With Henderson out, Patrick Taylor is operating as the lead back. We'll be sure and update you when we have more information on the severity of the injury.

Michigan junior RB Karan Higdon rushed for 139 yards on 32 carries in Saturday's 21-7 win over Michigan State.

Fantastic work once more from Higdon. He's been as solid as they come this season, with Saturday's output marking his sixth game over 100 yards rushing on the campaign. He's hit that number in every game since the opener against Notre Dame. For the year as a whole, now, the 5-foot-10, 202-pound junior has gone off for 826 yards and six touchdowns. Higdon and crew will be on bye next weekend, and will play Penn State on Nov. 3 coming out of the break.
Oct 20 - 5:12 PM

Temple redshirt sophomore QB Anthony Russo completed 20-of-41 passes for 237 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions in Saturday's 24-17 overtime win over No. 20 Cincinnati.

Russo (6'4/230) led the Owls on a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with 49 seconds remaining to force overtime. In OT, Russo threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Wright, which was the final score of the game. It was a gutsy performance for the redshirt sophomore, but it certainly wasn't a clean game highlighted by the three interceptions. These growing pains are to be expected with an unexperienced quarterback, but Temple should be stoked to have a three game winning streak and to have a quarterback capable of moving the ball down the field. Russo will get a tough test against UCF on Thursday, November 1st.
Oct 20 - 5:11 PM

Tennessee redshirt sophomore QB Jarrett Guarantano was helped off the field after taking a big hit during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Alabama.

Guarantano struggled for much of his time on the field prior to the hit, which was to be expected given the quality of Alabama's defense. The redshirt sophomore, whose return has not been ruled out, was replaced in the lineup by graduate student Keller Chryst. Chryst, who previously played at Stanford, led Tennessee on a drive that was capped by the Volunteers' first touchdown on the game.
Oct 20 - 5:05 PM

Syracuse redshirt freshman QB Tommy DeVito came in off the bench to complete 11-of-19 passes for 181 yards, three touchdown and an interception in Saturday's 40-37 double-overtime victory over UNC.

DeVito was summoned off the bench in a huge spot, with Syracuse trailing 27-20 with a mere 5:07 left. He hit Nykeim Johnson for a 42-yard equalizer with only 1:39 left to force overtime. DeVito then threw a pair of touchdowns in extra time to knock off UNC. The importance of this win cannot be understated for Syracuse. They now are a heavy, heavy favorite to return to bowl season. If they'd lost this game, they likely would have had under a 50% chance to secure the two wins they would have needed to qualify over the remainder of the schedule. As beat writer Stephen Bailey tweeted during the game, "Donovan McNabb once won the starting job against UNC..." DeVito likely just did the same.
Oct 20 - 4:53 PM

Ohio junior QB Nathan Rourke completed 8-of-12 passes for 193 yards with four touchdowns and ran for 101 yards and a score in a 49-14 shellacking of Bowling Green on Saturday.

Very impressive. Rourke didn't show any of the ill effects that limited him in the loss to Northern Illinois last week, and the 6-foot-2, 208-pound signal-caller showed off his impressive improvisational skills on the ground, as well. Simply put, when Rourke is healthy and doesn't turn the ball over, he's as good as any Group of Five quarterback in the country. Ohio will take on Ball State on Thursday.
Oct 20 - 4:49 PM

Syracuse senior WR Jamal Custis caught seven passes for 162 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 40-37 double-overtime victory over UNC.

Monster game for Custis (6'5/213), and he saved the best for last, hauling in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Tommy DeVito down the sideline on Syracuse' second play of the first overtime. A longtime tease, Custis is finally making good on his talent. He's posted a 32-592-4 line during Syracuse's 5-2 start. The Orange host NC State next week.
Oct 20 - 4:45 PM

Michigan State redshirt freshman QB Rocky Lombardi replaced ineffective starter Brian Lewerke during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Michigan.

There wasn't much time remaining in the game when Lombardi got his opportunity to lead the Michigan State offense, so HC Mark Dantonio's decision to make a change may not impact much moving forward. That being said, Lombardi replaced a quarterback in Lewerke who was 5-for-25 passing for a paltry 66 yards.
Oct 20 - 4:43 PM

Virginia redshirt QB Bryce Perkins completed 20-of-32 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 28-14 win over Duke.

Perkins also added 61 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Perkins was the team's leading rusher and passer in this one, accounting for three touchdowns in the Cavaliers upset as 8-point road underdogs. His top receiver was unsurprisingly Olamide Zaccheaus who caught half of his 20 completions for 66 yards. Perkins now has 12 passing touchdowns and five rushing scores on the season. He will look to continue his success next week against UNC.
Oct 20 - 4:37 PM

Syracuse senior QB Eric Dungey was benched for Tommy DeVito in Saturday's 40-37 double-overtime victory over UNC.

Dungey's failure to grow as a passer finally caught up to him. A longtime program leader and an utter warrior on the field, Dungey, in the end, is what he is: A good runner and a mediocre passer with durability concerns in a system that requires strong pocket play. It looks like Dungey will close his college career having never thrown for 2,700 yards in a season, quite surprising for a quarterback who got three years to run Dino Babers' system (injuries played a part, to be fair). We may hear from him again this season, but after DeVito's performance on Saturday, it'd be surprising if Syracuse went back to Dungey. It's also worth monitoring Dungey's health status. He was shaking his arm on the sideline in the second half and has a history of nagging shoulder woes.
