NC State junior RB Nyheim Hines will forego his final season of eligibility to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

Hines (5'9/190) leaves for the NFL after putting in a successful 2017 campaign in which he rushed for 1,113 yards (5.6 YPC) and 12 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-ACC recognition for that fine work. While this was his first season with more than 300 yards rushing, he's consistently served as a receiving weapon, having logged at least 20 catches in each of his three years with the Wolfpack (including a healthy 43 grabs in 2016). He also has extensive experience as a kick returner. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline views him as a prospect likely to be swept off the board in the third or fourth round this spring.

Nebraska freshman QB Adrian Martinez (knee) will be a game-time decision for their game against Michigan on Saturday.

"We’re going to make a decision on what’s best for the team and what’s best for him," Frost told reporters. "It was close (to him playing) last week, but he wasn’t ready, and we didn’t want to put him in that situation." Martinez missed the game against Troy last week, despite the fact that he was announced as the starter. In his place, Andrew Bunch played okay, but the Cornhuskers fell to Troy. The freshman signal-caller offers much more upside with his arm and legs, so if he can play, it gives them a better chance of pulling off the upset against the Wolverines. We should have more updates on his status later in the week.
Sep 17 - 9:07 PM

Florida State redshirt freshman RB Khalan Laborn underwent season-ending surgery on his knee.

There were reports last week that Laborn was not expected to miss the rest of the season. Those reports were false, as there was more damage to his kneecap than originally diagnosed. He suffered the injury in the week two victory over Samford. The former four-star tailback showed upside in his limited time with the Seminoles, and should be ready to compete before the start of next season.

NC State redshirt sophomore TE Cary Angeline has been cleared to play for the Wolfpack.

Angeline was scheduled to sit out the first three games of the season, but after Saturday's game against West Virginia was cancelled due to Hurricane Florence, the NCAA apparently has given the former USC transfer the go-ahead despite him missing just two games. Angeline (6'7/230) is not just cleared to play, he's listed as the starting tight end in the depth chart. He's considered more of a blocker than pass-catcher, but he should see some targets and help the Wolfpack running game, starting this Saturday against Marshall.

Arkansas HC Chad Morris named junior QB Ty Storey the starter at quarterback for the Razorbacks.

"We want to settle on someone," Morris told reporters. Storey and Cole Kelley have been co-starters for the first three games of the year, and while both have had at least brief moments of competence, it's been mostly ugly for the 1-2 Razorbacks. The clarity of knowing that he's the starter may help Storey, but he's going to have to play much, much better if Arkansas is going to be competitive this year. A tough contest against Auburn comes on Saturday.
Sep 17 - 2:52 PM

Florida State redshirt freshman QB Bailey Hockman is transferring to NC State.

Hockman (6'2/206) announced that he would transfer from Florida State at the end of August when he didn't win the starting quarterback job. A former four-star signing, Hockman will have a chance to win the starting job at NC State next year, as starter Ryan Finley will be graduating and likely off to an NFL roster.

Louisville HC Bobby Petrino has benched redshirt sophomore QB Jawon Pass in favor of redshirt freshman QB Malik Cunningham for Saturday's game against Virginia.

The only surprise here is Pass' swift fall from preseason expectations grace. Two weeks ago, Petrino yanked an ineffective Pass one series into the second half of a tie game against Indiana State, and Cunningham went on to lead the offense to 24 unanswered points. Last week, Petrino benched Pass early in the second quarter trailing 7-0 to Western Kentucky. Louisville rallied to win 20-17. Pass has completed a mere 50% of his passes for a 2/4 TD/INT in the early going, and he's supposed to be the superior passer of the two. Petrino said during his Monday presser that we'll see Pass again. We'll see.
Sep 17 - 2:17 PM

Louisville HC Bobby Petrino named redshirt freshman QB Malik Cunningham the starter going forward.

Juwan "Puma" pass won the starting job out of camp, but he struggled with his accuracy and decision-making over the first three games. Petrino also compared Cunningham to Lamar Jackson last week, and you usually don't keep someone like Lamar Jackson on the bench. Pass could see action if Cunningham struggles, but right now, it appears that the 6-foot-1, 190-pound signal-caller is going to be the answer at quarterback, starting Saturday with Virginia.
Sep 17 - 2:00 PM

Houston HC Major Applewhite announced Monday that redshirt senior RB Terence Williams will miss 3-to-6 weeks with a knee injury.

The graduate transfer from Baylor was hurt in Saturday's 63-49 loss at Texas Tech. Expected to take over the RB1 role in the UH backfield, Williams was no better than a complimentary piece in a three-man committee, rushing for 142 yards and one touchdown. Patrick Carr will start Saturday against Texas Southern, with Mulbah Car and Kevrin Justice behind him.
Sep 17 - 1:52 PM

Florida sophomore RB Malik Davis will miss "an extended (amount of) time" with a broken foot, according to the Gainesville Sun’s Robbie Andreu.

This is a curious bit of news, as Florida HC Dan Mullen had said on Sunday that X-rays on Davis' foot came back negative. Either way, this development throws a huge wrench into Davis' season. Going forward, Jordan Scarlett will continue to be the featured back with Lamical Perine behind him. Two true freshmen, Dameon Pierce and Iverson Clement, will vie for Davis' vacated RB3 role.
Sep 17 - 1:22 PM

Ohio State HC Urban Meyer announced that junior DE Nick Bosa (abdomen) will miss Saturday's game against Tulane.

Bosa will undergo further tests on his lower abdomen and groin, per Meyer. Bosa left last Saturday's game against TCU in the third quarter with the injury (or injuries). Through three games, Bosa has four sacks, six TFL, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and a forced fumble that resulted in a touchdown. He is a top-five overall prospect for the NFL Draft and remains in contention to go 1.1.

The latest AP Poll puts Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma in it's top five.

All of the top five teams are undefeated at 3-0. LSU climbed to No. 6 in the latest AP Poll after beating Auburn by one point on the road when the Tigers won on a game-winning field goal kick after coming back from 21-10 deficit. With the loss Auburn dropped from 7th to 9th but are the highest ranked team with a loss. Stanford (7), Notre Dame (8), and Washington (10) round out the top 10.
