NC State redshirt junior T Will Richardson will forego his final season of eligibility to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

Richardson (6'6/303) earned All-ACC second-team honors after the close of the 2017 season. A steady presence in pass blocking, he helped anchor an offensive line which surrendered just 12 sacks for the campaign. As an NFL prospect, a strong evaluating process will be key for Richardson, whom Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline views as a sixth-round selection. He'll also have to answer for some off-field concerns -- the Wolfpack lineman was hit with a two-game suspension for reasons unknown to open the 2017 season and was also arrested on suspicion of DWI in the autumn of 2015.
Jan 12 - 6:42 PM

Air Force junior QB Isaiah Sanders completed 9-of-11 passes for 217 yards with a touchdown and ran for 173 yards with three touchdowns in a 41-35 victory over UNLV on Friday.

The quarterback competition should be over. Sanders was outstanding on Friday -- albeit against an atrocious UNLV defense -- but he showed something the Falcons haven't had in years: A quarterback who can beat you on the ground while also making plays with his arm. A dominant effort that should allow him to remain the starting quarterback the rest of the year. A much tougher match-up comes next Saturday when Air Force and Sanders face Boise State.
Oct 20 - 1:23 AM

Boise State senior QB Brett Rypien completed 22-of-26 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-28 shellacking of Colorado State on Friday.

Impressive. Rypien (6'2/202) wasn't exactly challenged in this one going against one of the worst secondaries in college football -- at least statistically -- but his ability to get rid of the ball quickly and accurately was on full display. He also made a few plays with his legs, but for the most part, he was able to pick apart the Rams in the pocket. The Broncos will look to improve their 4-2 record next Saturday when they face Air Force.

Indiana has permanently dismissed sophomore RB Morgan Ellison from the football team.

He also was given a two and a half year suspension from the university. The dismissal and suspension comes after a panel determined that Ellison sexually assaulted a student while she slept. The running back was recently practicing with the team despite the charges. Because he didn't play in any games, Ellison could look to transfer with three years of eligibility left, but he understandably will have some serious, serious questions to answer at any school he'd end up at.
Oct 19 - 7:21 PM

TCU HC Gary Patterson said that junior S Innis Gaines (undisclosed) will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Gaines (6'2/203) was injured in the second half of last Thursday's loss to Texas Tech. Patterson spoke to his status during his weekly radio show. It's a potentially crippling blow, one that could have immediate detrimental impact with Oklahoma coming to town on Saturday. The junior starter had registered 31 tackles (6.5 for loss), six passes defensed, an interception and a fumble through the first six games of the campaign. Backing up Gaines on the depth chart is redshirt freshman La'Kendrick Van Zandt.
Oct 19 - 5:21 PM

Multiple outlets are reporting that Arkansas redshirt junior QB Ty Storey (head) will not play in Saturday's game against Tulsa.

Storey (6'2/215) sustained a head injury during Saturday's loss to Ole Miss. While Razorbacks HC Chad Morris said earlier in the week that the quarterback had been cleared to practice, the feeling in Fayetteville is that he's not so far along in his recovery that he's ready for game action outright. With Storey a no-go for this weekend, Cole Kelley and true freshman Connor Noland are the two starting options now on the table for Morris and staff. Of note, it was Noland -- and not the more experienced Kelley -- taking first-team reps during the media viewing window of Wednesday's practice.

Multiple outlets are reporting that FAU senior LB Azeez Al-Shaair will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.

Al-Shaair (6'2/220) sustained the torn ACL during the practice leadup to this weekend's game against Marshall. He's expected to require surgery to repair the damage. This unfortunate injury will bring to a close the senior's fantastic career with the Owls. He exits stage left as the team's all-time leading tackler, having recorded 397 stops during his time in Boca Raton. For the current season, he was sitting on 43 tackles when he sustained the injury. He could still potentially apply for a medical hardship waiver, but a traditional redshirt will not be in play should he opt to try to continue his collegiate career, as he's already played in six games this season (four is the max to retain redshirt eligibility). Otherwise, he'll turn his attention toward his pro prospects for the spring. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline currently stamps Al-Shaair with a sixth-round grade. As for the FAU side of things, Hosea Barnwell could see a fair amount of work down the stretch.
Oct 19 - 2:00 PM

San Diego State redshirt sophomore RB Chase Jasmin is currently in the concussion protocol.

Jasmin (5'11/195) injured his head after taking a hard hit late in last Saturday's win over Air Force. Aztecs HC Rocky Long said earlier in the practice week that the team is hopeful the redshirt sophomore will be available for this weekend's date with San Jose State, but given the finicky nature of concussions, we'll be keeping an eye on this one until there's definitive word one way or another as to Jasmin's availability upcoming. Should he be unable to play versus the Spartans, that would mean additional opportunity for Kaegun Williams, Jordan Byrd and Chance Bell.
Oct 19 - 1:05 PM

Stanford senior WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside caught seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 20-13 win over Arizona State.

In a game lacking for much offensive spark, Arcega-Whiteside had a handful of noteworthy grabs, with his 28-yard touchdown catch down the middle in the third quarter snapping a 6-6 tie and giving the game its first score that was not a field goal. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior is now up to nine touchdown catches on the year. He's failed to strike end-zone gold in just two games this season. Arcega-Whiteside will try to reach double-digits in touchdowns against Washington State in Week 9.
Oct 19 - 12:50 AM

Stanford senior RB Bryce Love (ankle) was taken to the medical tent in the second half of Thursday's game against Arizona State.

Love (5'10/202) has once again been dealing with ankle injury for much of the campaign, with the issue most recently flaring up after he had his leg rolled up in a loss to Notre Dame several weeks back. He subsequently sat out against Utah, then rested up on bye before starting Thursday's contest. Now injured again. Look for Cameron Scarlett and Trevor Speights to see the bulk of the work for the remainder of the game unless Love manages to return late.
Oct 18 - 11:19 PM

Arkansas State redshirt senior QB Justice Hansen completed 17-of-28 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 76 yards and two additional scores in Thursday's 51-35 win over Georgia State.

Hansen (6'4/224) accounted for four of his five touchdowns in the first half before polishing off his fine evening's work via a 22-yard scoring run near the end of the third quarter. That latter score gave the Red Wolves a 41-14 advantage in a game that had long since stopped being competitive. This was one of Hansen's best games of the season and a welcome rebound after Appalachian State picked him off thrice last time out. He'll try to build off it against Louisiana in Week 9.
Oct 18 - 11:10 PM

Rice redshirt senior QB Shawn Stankavage (foot) is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

According to Glynn Hill of the Houston Chronicle, Stankavage will miss the rest of the season due to an "upper foot/ankle" injury. He initially sustained the campaign-ender during this past Saturday's game against UAB and subsequently underwent an MRI before it was determined that he would not be able to play again this year. Evan Marshman figures to draw the remainder of the starts through to the end of the season now that Stankavage has been ruled out.
