USC junior DL Rasheem Green will forego his senior season and declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

It's another big loss for the Trojans, who have seen several of their stars from the 11-3 club leave for the NFL. Green is the biggest loss they've received on the defensive side, as he picked up 10 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss for the USC defense. Pro Football Focus also rated him one of the best pass-rushers in the country, so he'll be hyped by both the scouting and analytical sides in the draft. Expect him to go off the board before the end of Day 2, with a real chance of going in the first round if he tests well.

Liberty junior WR Antonio Gandy-Golden (mono) is warming up and available to play in Saturday's game against Idaho State.

Unexpected development here, and great news for the Flames. Two days ago, Gandy-Golden was ruled out for the game. But perhaps he's made great strides in his recovery from mono in the past 48 hours. Gandy-Golden isn't out of the woods yet. He'll only play if warmups go well. Stay tuned.

Michigan junior DE Rashan Gary (shoulder) missed Saturday's game against Michigan State.

Gary did not travel with the team, according to a Michigan spokesman. This will be the third straight game Gary has missed due to the shoulder injury he suffered against Northwestern on September 29. The Wolverines were mum about Gary's status all week, perhaps playing coy. There was even a report earlier Saturday that he was on the team's travel roster. Gary is a top-15 overall NFL Draft prospect.

Temple senior RB Ryquell Armstead (ankle) is unlikely to play in Saturday's game against Cincinnati.

Armstead was walking around in sweatpants in the pregame as his teammates warmed up in uniform. If Armstead is indeed ruled out, Jager Gardner and Tyliek Raynor should divvy carries.

Army junior QB Kelvin Hopkins (hip) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Miami (Ohio).

Late turn of events here, as Hopkins has surprisingly been ruled out just prior to kickoff. The Black Knights are pondering senior Luke Langdon and sophomore Cam Thomas as replacement options at the moment.
Oct 20 - 11:48 AM

Auburn redshirt freshman RB JaTarvious Whitlow (shoulder) is warming up ahead of Saturday's game against Mississippi and is expected to play.

Whitlow is considered a gametime decision. This one could go either way, but it's a good sign that Saturday morning reports stated he was moving around freely with full range of motion. If Whitlow can't go, Malik Miller is in for a big increase in touches. Kam Martin and Shaun Shivers are also in line for more carries, though it was Miller who got most of the non-Whitlow touches last week against Tennessee.

Washington State HC Mike Leach accused the Pac-12 of favoring USC and blasted the conference's commitment to player safety in a series of heated text messages with conference officials last month.

We're hearing about this now because the documents were obtained by Yahoo Sports via a public records request. They came in the wake of a controversial noncall for targeting by USC LB Porter Gustin on Cougars QB Gardner Minshew in Wazzu's 39-36 loss in Los Angeles last month. "Don't... [make] me sit through some sanctimonious speech or demonstration on player safety or targeting if you are going to continue to alibi what happened last Friday," Leach wrote. Much of Leach's anger was directed at Pac-12 general counsel and senior vice president of business affairs Woodie Dixon, writing: "Woodie is a total coward and is afraid of USC. I look forward to telling him in person."

Air Force junior QB Isaiah Sanders completed 9-of-11 passes for 217 yards with a touchdown and ran for 173 yards with three touchdowns in a 41-35 victory over UNLV on Friday.

The quarterback competition should be over. Sanders was outstanding on Friday -- albeit against an atrocious UNLV defense -- but he showed something the Falcons haven't had in years: A quarterback who can beat you on the ground while also making plays with his arm. A dominant effort that should allow him to remain the starting quarterback the rest of the year. A much tougher match-up comes next Saturday when Air Force and Sanders face Boise State.
Oct 20 - 1:23 AM

Boise State senior QB Brett Rypien completed 22-of-26 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-28 shellacking of Colorado State on Friday.

Impressive. Rypien (6'2/202) wasn't exactly challenged in this one going against one of the worst secondaries in college football -- at least statistically -- but his ability to get rid of the ball quickly and accurately was on full display. He also made a few plays with his legs, but for the most part, he was able to pick apart the Rams in the pocket. The Broncos will look to improve their 4-2 record next Saturday when they face Air Force.

Indiana has permanently dismissed sophomore RB Morgan Ellison from the football team.

He also was given a two and a half year suspension from the university. The dismissal and suspension come after a panel determined that Ellison sexually assaulted a student while she slept. The running back was recently practicing with the team despite the charges. Because he didn't play in any games, Ellison could look to transfer with three years of eligibility left, but he understandably will have some serious, serious questions to answer at any school he'd end up at.

TCU HC Gary Patterson said that junior S Innis Gaines (undisclosed) will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Gaines (6'2/203) was injured in the second half of last Thursday's loss to Texas Tech. Patterson spoke to his status during his weekly radio show. It's a potentially crippling blow, one that could have immediate detrimental impact with Oklahoma coming to town on Saturday. The junior starter had registered 31 tackles (6.5 for loss), six passes defensed, an interception and a fumble through the first six games of the campaign. Backing up Gaines on the depth chart is redshirt freshman La'Kendrick Van Zandt.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Arkansas redshirt junior QB Ty Storey (head) will not play in Saturday's game against Tulsa.

Storey (6'2/215) sustained a head injury during Saturday's loss to Ole Miss. While Razorbacks HC Chad Morris said earlier in the week that the quarterback had been cleared to practice, the feeling in Fayetteville is that he's not so far along in his recovery that he's ready for game action outright. With Storey a no-go for this weekend, Cole Kelley and true freshman Connor Noland are the two starting options now on the table for Morris and staff. Of note, it was Noland -- and not the more experienced Kelley -- taking first-team reps during the media viewing window of Wednesday's practice.
