Texas A&M four-star 2019 verbal QB commit Grant Gunnell has reopened his recruitment.

Gunnell (6'6/207) had been committed to the Aggies since June, but began to glance around at other potential options after the program parted ways with HC Kevin Sumlin following the close of the 2017 season. He indicated that while he's opening his recruitment back up, Texas A&M still remains in his mental hierarchy. As for what other schools are pushing for Gunnell, his decommitment came directly on the heels of Ohio State offering to him and he's also planning on taking an unofficial visit to LSU on Friday. Arkansas and TCU could additionally be in play, here. Gunnell ranks as the No. 49 overall prospect in the 2019 class on the 247Sports composite board, sliding in as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback for the cycle. His most immediately noticeable trait on the field is his accuracy. He's still developing his arm strength as he heads into his senior season at St. Pious X High School in Houston.

Ohio redshirt senior RB A.J. Ouellette rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in Wednesday's 52-17 win over Buffalo.

Not only did the 5-foot-10, 209-pound Ouellette absolutely dominate this game on the ground, he chipped in with an eight-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter just for good measure. The redshirt senior has been outstanding of late, with Wednesday's immaculate performance his third game of at least 135 yards rushing in his last four contests. Ouellette will now need just 27 yards rushing against Akron in the regular-season finale to hit 1,000 yards for the campaign.
Nov 14 - 10:43 PM

Buffalo redshirt junior QB Tyree Jackson completed 9-of-21 passes for 116 yards and two interceptions while rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown in Wednesday's 52-17 loss to Ohio.

Jackson (6'7/245) did have a nice evening as a runner -- his 70 yards rushing came on just three attempts, with a long run of 55 yards -- but otherwise this was one of his more lackluster performances of the campaign. This was just his third game all season in which he has thrown multiple interceptions and his first with zero touchdown passes. Jackson and company will look to rebound from this uninspiring showing in their regular-season finale against Bowling Green a week from Friday.
Nov 14 - 10:30 PM

Ole Miss junior RB Scottie Phillips (ankle) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's game against Vanderbilt.

Phillips was forced out with an ankle sprain during this past weekend's loss to Texas A&M. The junior back did not take part in practice on Wednesday. Should he be forced to sit out against Vandy, it would be a critical loss for the Rebs. Isaiah Woullard would see an expanded workload if Phillips is unable to give it a go on Saturday. We'll check back in with this situation in the coming days.
Nov 14 - 9:04 PM

Western Michigan fired DC Tim Daoust.

The timing of this is a bit surprising, as there's just one game left in the season. The dismissal comes after a 42-41 overtime loss to Ball State on Tuesday. "I appreciate Tim and his family's dedication to the Bronco football family these past two seasons. At this time I felt we needed to go in a different direction," Broncos HC Tim Lester said. The Broncos have allowed 51, 59 and 42 points in three straight losses. Defensive line coach Tim Esposito will be the acting defensive coordinator for the rest of the season.
Nov 14 - 6:48 PM

Alabama redshirt sophomore DL Quinnen Williams is one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Award.

The award is essentially the defensive player of the year award. Joining Williams on the list are Kentucky LB Josh Allen, Michigan LB Devin Bush, LSU S Grant Delpit, and Clemson DE Christian Wilkins. Williams (6'4/295) has been the breakout star of college football this year, and has a real chance of being one of the first defensive player selected in 2018.
Nov 14 - 4:20 PM

Houston junior DT Ed Oliver (knee) was ruled out for Saturday's game against Tulane.

This will be the fourth consecutive game that Oliver has missed since suffering the right knee injury against Navy. Oliver (6'3/292) announced in the spring that he would declare for the 2019 NFL draft after the season. It's theoretically possible that we've already seen his last collegiate snap, but that remains an open question. Houston closes out the regular season against Memphis next week.

USC HC Clay Helton told reporters that he has the support of the university and administration and expects to remain at the school.

"I have a lot of support from [athletic director] Lynn Swann," Helton said. "Lynn, every Monday, walks into my office and has given me nothing but, 'Coach, we're in this for the long haul." After punting a two-TD halftime lead against Cal on Saturday as boos reigned down at the LA Coliseum, USC is 5-5. The Trojans must beat either UCLA or Notre Dame to qualify for a bowl. Helton told USC players that he plans to be at the school for another 15 years. We'd suggest he focus on the next 15 days. If archival UCLA upsets the Trojans on Saturday, USC will be in severe danger of missing the postseason. If that happens, we'd be surprised if Helton were retained.

New Mexico State senior LB Terrill Hanks accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

Hanks has flown under the radar playing for a dreadful NMSU outfit, but he's got a bright future ahead of him. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound four-year starter projects as a 4-3 OLB at the next level. "Really athletic, versatile kid," Fran Duffy tweeted. "Impressive body type. Built for today's game." What's On Draft's Mark Jarvis said the following in a scouting report (linked below): "A powerful hitter who can really lay out runners, he'll need to show better form tackling, with a growth in accuracy. Although he looked much smoother from an athletic standpoint as a junior, there is a noticeable hitch to a lot of the movements he makes."

2020 four-star JUCO edge rusher Jordan Davis verbally committed to Tennessee.

"I mean, I shocked the world with that one," Davis said. Hopefully rushing the passer comes as easily to the youngster as hyperbole. The 6-foot-5, 249-pound Davis signed with Alabama last year out of high school as a four-star recruit (the No. 108 player overall in his class, per 247Sports). But after failing to qualify academically, he enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College this summer. Davis, from Memphis, Tenn., has now decided to commit to former Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Davis is on track to graduate from the JUCO ranks in December 2019, so the plan is to enroll at an FBS school in January 2020. With his signing day a year away, the Vols are far from out of the woods here.

Western Michigan redshirt junior RB LeVante Bellamy rushed for 213 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries in Tuesday's 42-41 overtime loss to Ball State.

In a fun, high-scoring bout of Tuesday MACtion, Bellamy turned in a career-best performance in which he averaged 6.1 YPC with a long run of 17 yards. Alas for the WMU faithful, his final touch of the game came when he was stuffed on a two-point conversion attempt in overtime. The Broncos could have kicked the extra point, there, to tie up the game and send it onwards to a second overtime period, but HC Tim Lester opted to go for the win instead. No such luck. Setting aside the sour end result, Bellamy has now rushed for 1,120 yards and six touchdowns across 11 games played. Western Michigan will finish up its regular-season campaign against NIU next Tuesday.
Nov 13 - 9:51 PM

The Detroit News' Angelique Chengelis hears that Kansas is considering former UCLA OC Jedd Fisch as an option to fill its vacant head-coaching position.

Fisch was hired by UCLA to serve as offensive coordinator in the winter of 2017 after spending the previous two years as Michigan's passing-game coordinator. He bounced to the NFL following the 2017 campaign and is currently an offensive analyst with the Los Angeles Rams. His lone experience working as a head coach in any capacity came late last fall, after Jim Mora was canned. He served as interim head honcho for two games in that spot. The vast majority of Fisch's experience has come at the NFL level. Les Miles remains the name most heavily bandied about for KU's open job, but another one to keep an eye on, here.
