Five former Ole Miss players who transferred at the end of the past season have now been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA.

That's five former Rebs in addition to Shea Patterson, who was just cleared for immediate eligibility at Michigan following a lengthy offseason dance with the NCAA and his former program. With Patterson paving the way, multiple other former players from Oxford are also benefitting. The five newly-eligible faces, here, are Nebraska LB Breon Dixon, Houston DB Deontay Anderson, Georgia Tech T Jack DeFoor, UCF WR Tre Nixon and UAB LB Jarrion Street. All of these transfers came about in the wake of NCAA sanctions levied against the program for alleged rules violations which were downplayed by former HC Hugh Freeze and staff, misleading the young men involved.

Western Kentucky redshirt junior RB Marquez Trigg will transfer.

A program spokesman confirmed Trigg has left the program. Trigg said in a Twitter post that he will graduate in December and transfer at that time, which will allow him to play immediately next season, his final year of eligibility. Trigg actually started the opener against Wisconsin but things derailed from there. Through three games, he had carried the ball only nine times for 12 yards (1.3 yards per carry).

Ohio State junior DE Nick Bosa (abdomen) underwent surgery on Thursday and is out "indefinitely," per the school.

This almost assuredly means that Bosa will miss more time than previously hoped. The All-American defensive end suffered the injury in last Saturday's 40-28 win over TCU. HC Urban Meyer described the situation like this on his Thursday radio show on 97.1 The Fan: "He had a core muscle injury. He had surgery. I just talked to his father maybe 20 minutes ago and we hope to get him back as soon as possible. We're not sure when that will be. Obviously the recovery and obviously one of the best players in the country, maybe football, and even a better person. Incredible family. So prayers, hug them up and let's go." Bosa had already collected six TFL, four sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery for a touchdown prior to his injury. He's widely considered a top-5 overall NFL prospect.

Troy redshirt junior RB Jamarius Henderson will remain on suspension through this weekend's game against Louisiana-Monroe.

No word on when he'll return, but we can tell you that this will be Henderson's third consecutive missed game for violating team rules. B.J. Smith has been functioning as the RB1 with Jabir Daughtry-Frye behind him.

Nebraska HC Scott Frost said freshman QB Adrian Martinez (knee) is "really close" to being ready to play on Saturday against Michigan.

Frost confirmed that Martinez will travel with the team. We'd love to believe him on the "really close" bit, but Nebraska proved last week that their public status updates about key players are as much gamesmanship as factual dispatches. Consider us in wait-and-see mode. Martinez, officially listed as questionable, will be a game-time decision, per Frost.

Miami HC Mark Richt ruled out junior WR Ahmmon Richards (knee) for Saturday's game against Florida International.

This will be the third straight game the injury-prone Richards has missed after suffering the injury in the opener against LSU. He's officially walking down the path of a second straight year wrecked by injuries. Last fall, the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was limited to only six games after suffering a severe hamstring injury in August camp and then later getting shut down for the year courtesy of a torn meniscus sustained during a late November practice.

Miami HC Mark Richt ruled out senior S Jaquan Johnson (hamstring) for Saturday's game against FIU.

Last Saturday against Toledo, Johnson suffered a right hamstring injury during the second quarter and exited the game. Miami's defense was pitching a shutout at the time and ended up giving up 24 points to Toledo after Johnson left. Something to keep an eye on Saturday. Johnson is one of the best safeties in the nation.

Notre Dame junior RB Dexter Williams is expected to return from suspension on Sept. 29 against Stanford.

This is a really poorly kept secret, and you can blame curmudgeon Fighting Irish HC Brian Kelly for that. Kelly privately suspended Williams for four games for undisclosed reasons over the offseason, but word got out, as it tends to do. Instead of coming clean, Kelly would respond to questions about Williams' status by saying "he's on our roster" and he will be "dressed" and "on the sidelines" for games. The last game of Williams' four-game suspension is this weekend against Wake Forest. Williams will have a fight on his hands for touches with Tony Jones Jr. and Jafar Armstrong having established themselves early.

Michigan received a verbal commitment from five-star 2019 S Daxton Hill.

Hill (6'0/186) is going to be a fun one for the Wolverine faithful to watch develop after he steps foot on campus. He's one of the most athletic prospects in the 2019 class regardless of position and has been timed at 4.30 seconds in the 40-yard dash with a 43-inch vertical jump. And he still has yet to reach physical maturity. 247Sports analyst Steve Wiltfong notes that he also possesses a sharp mind for the game and writes that Hill "excels in coverage, breaking quickly when the ball is in his region and turns into a receiver when he can make a play." On the outlet's composite board, the Tulsa native ranks as the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Michigan RB Jay Harbaugh said that he expects junior RB Karan Higdon (undisclosed) to be available for Saturday's game against Nebraska.

Higdon was a late scratch for this past weekend's win over SMU due to an undisclosed injury concern, but the 5-foot-10, 202-pound junior has been practicing this week and sounds like he should be ready to roll come Saturday. We'll continue to count him as day-to-day up until kickoff. UM looks like it will have its top two backs available versus the Huskers, as Chris Evans -- also dealing with an undisclosed issue -- is likewise expected to be available for that Saturday showdown in Ann Arbor.

Nebraska freshman QB Adrian Martinez (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

Martinez (6'2/220) has practiced each of the past two days. Per QB coach Mario Verduzco, the team did not limit him in any aspect during Wednesday's workday. The true freshman gunslinger should still be considered a game-time decision for Saturday's game against Michigan -- and if there's any question, the Huskers will almost certainly not be pushing their luck -- but his progress thus far has been very encouraging. Martinez has not played since injuring his knee against Colorado in Nebraska's first game of the campaign. If he's held out against the Wolverines, it'll be Andrew Bunch taking the start once more.

Duke HC David Cutcliffe said that redshirt junior QB Daniel Jones (collarbone) has "amazed" the medical staff with his rehabilitation progress.

Jones (6'5/215) earlier this month underwent surgery to repair the broken collarbone he sustained against Northwestern in Week 2. Speaking to Cutcliffe's point on the injury, the redshirt junior has already resumed practicing in pads, though understandably sans contact. There's no concrete timetable for his return, but this injury is not expected to end his season. For the time being, Quentin Harris is working as starting quarterback in Jones' place.
