Clemson freshman DT Josh Belk transferred to South Carolina.

Belk (6'3/325) signed on with Clemson as a four-star recruit in the most recent class and subsequently took part in spring practice with the Tigers. However, the allure of home began to gnaw on the defensive tackle out of Richburg, South Carolina, and he announced his transfer intent in mid-May. Georgia and South Carolina both received visits from Belk before he made his decision to side with the Gamecocks. He'll have to sit out the 2018 season to satisfy NCAA transfer regulations, but a redshirt may well have been in order for him regardless. Rivals ranked Belk as the No. 2 defensive tackle prospect in the state of South Carolina for the 2018 cycle.

Wake Forest has relieved defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel of his duties.

Sawvel was released just one day after his defense gave up 56 points to Notre Dame. The Demon Deacons are averaging 33.5 point per game allowed (107th in the nation) through four games. The rest of the Wake Forest defensive coaching staff is still being worked out. Next week, Wake Forest will host Rice and the defense might have a new life with the change.

The AP Poll released on September 23rd has Kentucky ranked No. 17 and Texas ranked No. 18.

Kentucky (4-0) had a big win on Saturday as they beat Mississippi State 28-7 behind Benny Snell's huge running game. The Wildcats were unranked before the weekend. The other new top 25 teams are No. 18 Texas (are they back?), No. 22 Duke, No. 24 Cal, and No. 25 Texas Tech. The top ten teams remain the same, but LSU/OU and PSU/AUB switched spots with the former leaping the latter.

Old Dominion redshirt sophomore QB Blake LaRussa wins the Walter Camp Player of the Week for his performance against Virginia Tech on Saturday.

If you throw for 495 yards and four touchdowns without an interception in a 49-35 win as a four touchdown underdog, I'd say your worthy of the award. LaRussa not only did that, but also rushed for a touchdown. The redshirt sophomore leaned upon Travis Fulgham and Jonathan Duhart, who combined for 330 yards and all four passing touchdowns. The Old Dominion win is probably the biggest football moment in it's school's history.

Oklahoma sophomore LB Kenneth Murray broke an Oklahoma record with 28 tackles in Saturday's 28-21 win over Army.

Murray's 28 tackles earned him the Week 4 Walter Camp Player of the Week honors, and we obviously have no problem with that. With Army running the ball 78 times, there was plenty of opportunity for a stud player like Murray to really fill the stat sheet. Oklahoma had seven players with at least eight tackles: Murray (28), Curtis Bolton (23), Mark Jackson Jr (15), Kenneth Mann (11), Kahlil Haughton (9), Ryan Jones (8), and Neville Gallimore (8). That's called swarm tackling.

UCLA coach Chip Kelly said redshirt senior QB Wilton Speight (back) is not assured of getting his starting job back when he is healthy.

Speight (6'6/232) has been out since September 1st's game against Cincinnati and true freshman Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been starting since. Kelly's comments are particularly notable because Thompson-Robinson has struggled in back-to-back games. On 75 pass attempts, the freshman has just two touchdowns with two interceptions and the Bruins are 0-3. Speight and Thompson-Robinson will battle it out in practice heading into next Friday's game against Colorado.

Virginia Tech redshirt junior DL Trevon Hill has been dismissed by the football team.

Wow. The Hokies weekend gets even worse. The Athletic's Andy Bitter believes the dismissal was an accumulation of things and nothing criminal. But this is as bad as it gets for an NFL prospect -- he was given a third-round grade by Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline -- who was already off to a hot start on the field this season. In the first few weeks, Hill already had a team-leading 3.5 sacks (two of which game against Florida State) and 4.5 tackles for loss. It's hard to put into words how big of a dent this puts into Hill's draft stock, but it's massive.

Memphis junior RB Darrell Henderson rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in Saturday's 52-35 win over South Alabama.

Henderson (5'9/200) has back-to-back-to-back games with at least 188 rushing yards. That's really running the football. The junior's highlight run came on a 52-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 18 points. Through four games, Henderson is now averaging 177 rushing yards on 14.5 carries per game. Let's see if he can extend his 188+ rushing yard streak next week against Tulane, but his 12.2 yards per carry is unbelievable.
Sep 23 - 12:25 AM

Wisconsin junior QB Alex Hornibrook completed 17-of-22 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 28-17 win over Iowa.

The Badgers trailed 17-14 with 5:40 remaining in the fourth quarter when they started into their go-ahead scoring drive. On that drive, Hornibrook completed 5-of-5 passes, wrapping it with a 17-yard scoring toss to A.J. Taylor. That score came with just over a minute left in the game. Wisconsin would add one more touchdown before contest's end to provide the final margin of victory. Hornibrook is rarely tasked with carrying the team, but he did a beautiful job, here, with his team on the verge of losing two straight games. The Badgers will take their bye next weekend, with a home date against Nebraska showing on the schedule after that.
Sep 23 - 12:21 AM

Kentucky junior RB Benny Snell rushed 26 times for 165 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's 28-7 romp against Mississippi State.

Snell has been a beast, racking up at least 125 rushing yards in each of his three meetings against FBS opponents this season. He has seven rushing scores overall this season, and as long as he stays healthy the Wildcats look to be a tough out in the SEC. Snell could become the first Kentucky running back to lead the SEC in rushing since Artose Pinner posted 1,414 yards in 2002. He could also challenge the single-season record for Kentucky, when Moe Williams gobbled up 1,600 yards in 1995. Next up is a home battle against South Carolina.
Sep 23 - 12:19 AM

Oregon junior WR Dillon Mitchell snagged an impressive 14 passes for 239 yards in a 38-31 overtime loss to Stanford on Saturday.

This was impressive. Mitchell battled a leg injury, but he was able to come back, and to say that he was Justin Herbert's top target is the understatement of the season. He had a long of 53 yards, but there were several big connections between Herbert and Mitchell (6'2/189), including a fourth-and-one pass for 16 yards that put Oregon at the one and set up a rushing score that made it 31-21 late in the fourth. Unfortunately for the Ducks, it wasn't enough. Mitchell will try to come close to this output next Saturday when Oregon faces off against Cal.
Sep 23 - 12:05 AM

Iowa junior TE Noah Fant caught three passes for 29 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 28-17 loss to Wisconsin.

Don't let the final score of this one fool you, it was a tight contest throughout until Wisconsin scored a pair of touchdowns in the closing moments of the game to overcome a 17-14 fourth-quarter deficit. Fant did not destroy the universe on a pure yardage front -- fellow TE T.J. Hockenson actually led the position in yardage with three catches for 115 yards -- but his second touchdown very nearly delivered Iowa to an upset win. That latter touchdown came right at the goal line with under two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Alas, victory just wasn't to be for the Kinnick faithful. Fant has now caught scores in three of four games (he's up to four total touchdowns) to go with a nice 169 yards receiving for the campaign. Iowa will lick its wounds from this one while they're on bye next weekend, with a road date against Minnesota awaiting them after they've had their little rest.
