Former Alabama redshirt junior C Brandon Kennedy transferred to Tennessee as a graduate.

Upon Kennedy's announcement that he'd transfer as a graduate last month, the Tide barred him from transferring to any SEC school. That drew some national ire, which in turn fired up Nick Saban, who said he was merely abiding by conference rule. For better or worse, the decision is now out of Saban's hands -- and will be, going forward. The SEC adopted a new rule on June 1 stating that grad transfers can transfer within the conference without sitting out a year. A four-star 2015 signee, Kennedy (6'3/301) was the Crimson Tide's top backup center in 2017 before an injury knocked him out for the year. As he reunites with HC Jeremy Pruitt, Kennedy is in the mix to play immediately. He has two years of eligibility left.

Miami redshirt freshman QB N’Kosi Perry completed 17-of-25 passes for 224 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in a 31-17 victory over Florida International on Saturday.

He also ran for 43 yards. Malik Rosier got the start and played the first two series, but didn’t liked the Hurricanes to any points. Perry came in after, and provided a spark to the Miami offense. He showed off his impressive speed, but he was also accurate in the pocket and had a real connection with freshman TE Brevin Jordan over the middle. He also found Lawrence Cager for two scores, and he took advantage of Florida International leaving the middle of the field wide open. It shouldn’t shock anyone if Perry got the start next Saturday against North Carolina on Thursday.

Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore QB Josh Jackson was carted off in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game at Old Dominion with an apparent left leg injury.

Should Jackson be sidelined for an extended period of time, that would be a major blow for the Hokies to absorb as they look to contend in the ACC Coastal. The redshirt sophomore entered Saturday's game having completed 66.7 percent of his passes and thrown for 424 yards and three touchdowns. Redshirt junior Ryan Willis, who played two seasons at Kansas before transferring to Virginia Tech, replaced Jackson in the lineup.
Sep 22 - 6:53 PM

Texas Tech freshman QB Alan Bowman will start Saturday's game against Oklahoma State.

Bowman will make his third consecutive start, as McLane Carter remains out nursing an ankle injury. The true freshman lit it up last weekend, winning Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors for his 605-yard, five-touchdown performance against Houston in Week 4. Time for an encore?
Sep 22 - 6:30 PM

Texas Tech redshirt sophomore RB Da'Leon Ward is not in uniform for Saturday's game against Oklahoma State.

This is a major concern for Texas Tech, as Ward was held out of their Sept. 8 win over Lamar with an eye towards his being able to return the following week. That wasn't the case, and now the redshirt sophomore will miss his third straight game. Ta'Zhawn Henry, who rushed for 111 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries in Texas Tech's Sept. 15 win over Houston, stands to be the primary ball-carrier against Texas Tech.
Sep 22 - 6:28 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior Mike Weber left Saturday's game against Tulane with an apparent right ankle injury.

How serious the injury is has yet to be determined, and with Ohio State leading Tulane comfortably there wasn't much need for Weber to return. That being said the Buckeyes have a critical Big Ten East matchup with Penn State scheduled for Sept. 29, and they'll need Weber to be at his best in order to leave Happy Valley with the win. This is a major story to keep track of in the coming days.
Sep 22 - 6:23 PM

Duke redshirt junior QB Quentin Harris left Saturday's game against North Carolina Central during the third quarter with an apparent knee injury.

How serious the injury is remains to be seen, but Harris was spotted jogging on the Duke sideline shortly after leaving the game. With Duke having already lost its starting QB in Daniel Jones, who suffered a fractured clavicle in a win over Northwestern Sept. 8, the Blue Devils can ill-afford to see Harris go down for an extended period of time as well. Redshirt freshman Chris Katrenick took over at quarterback for the injured Harris.
Sep 22 - 6:01 PM

Miami sophomore WR Jeff Thomas will not return to Saturday's game against FIU due to dehydration.

As a result of Thomas being ruled out Miami will finish the game without its top two receivers, as Ahmmon Richards did not suit up due to a hamstring injury. While this would be an issue most weeks, given the way the Hurricanes dominated FIU in the first half Thomas being held out does not come as a surprise. Miami opens ACC play Sept. 27 against North Carolina.
Sep 22 - 5:32 PM

South Carolina junior WR Bryan Edwards was able to return to Saturday's game against Vanderbilt after leaving briefly due to injury.

Edwards, who entered Saturday's game with 11 catches and three touchdowns on the season, is a key contributor for the Gamecocks both in the passing game and on special teams. His return was good news for the Gamecocks, who are in search of their first conference win of the season.
Sep 22 - 5:22 PM

Michigan junior RB Karan Higdon (undisclosed) rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in Saturday's 56-10 beatdown of Nebraska.

Higdon (5'10/202) was scratched late with an undisclosed injury concern just prior to last Saturday's win over SMU, but he showed no ill effects from that issue in his helping the Wolverines to absolutely obliterate the Huskers. His touchdown run came from 44 yards out early in the first quarter. Michigan would go on to build build build on their lead, eventually taking a 39-0 edge into the halftime break. Even sitting out one game, Higdon's numbers still look sharp on the whole, as he's now rushed for 364 yards and three touchdowns through three games played. An Evanston date with Northwestern shows next on UM's schedule.
Sep 22 - 5:16 PM

North Carolina junior QB Nathan Elliott completed 22-of-31 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 38-25 win over Pitt.

The 314 yards were a career-high for Elliott. In the two previous games, Elliott struggled with his accuracy but was able to rebound today when he completed 71 percent of his passes. After running back Antonio Williams reached the end zone twice, Elliott found Michael Carter for a 31-yard score and Dynami Brown for a 19-yard score. It was a much needed day for both Elliott and the Tar Heels as a loss would have sent them to 0-3. UNC will take their victory to the South on a short week when they play Miami on Thursday.
Sep 22 - 5:13 PM

Miami HC Mark Richt said during his interview at halftime of Saturday's game against FIU that redshirt freshman QB N'Kosi Perry will start the second half.

Richt's plan all along was to start senior Malik Rosier, with Perry seeing his first action on the Hurricanes' third offensive series of the game. Perry threw a wrench into the plans to go back to Rosier by playing well, as he completed 12-of-13 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Depending upon how the second half goes, we could very well be witnessing a changing of the guard at Miami.
