According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Oklahoma redshirt junior QB Kyler Murray's finalized contract with the Oakland A's includes language that allows him to play football in 2018 before he must turn his attention to baseball full-time.

Good news, bad news for the Sooners. The good news -- the glorious news -- is that Murray is locked in to play quarterback for the Sooners next fall. He'll almost assuredly take over Baker Mayfield's old post. The bad news is that Oklahoma will not be able to cash in on his redshirt senior campaign in 2019. As part of the deal, Murray has agreed to forego his final collegiate season of eligibility. Murray is expected to play out the football season and then turn his attention full-time to baseball, reporting to 2019 spring training with Oakland. The ninth overall pick in the MLB Draft earlier this month, Murray signed for about $4.6 million. The deal includes an insurance policy in the event that Murray suffers a severe injury playing football this season.

Ohio State redshirt sophomore QB Dwayne Haskins completed 21-of-24 passes for 304 yards and five in Saturday's 49-6 victory over Tulane.

Every single one of those passes came prior to halftime. What do you even say? We're not even out of September but Haskins may have skyrocketed to QB1 status in the 2019 NFL Draft. Clearly, we have a lot of football to play. But Haskins' start to the year is about as impressive as you can get. Today, he became the first player in Big Ten history to have multiple five-TD games in the first four games of a season. He's got a 16/1 TD/INT rate on around 75-percent completions and a 10 ypa average.
Sep 22 - 7:23 PM

West Virginia senior WR David Sills caught 10 passes for 73 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 35-6 win over Kansas State.

Sills (6'4/203) was a beast at the goal line today as he scored not one, not two, but three touchdowns from the one-yard line. The lengthy receiver was "squishing ants" all day long as he quickly chopped his feet on slants and outs to get separation on K State corners. Heisman hopeful Will Grier has boasted David Sills production -- Sills had 18 touchdowns last year -- but Sills can really play. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline gave Sills a sixth round grade, but it will be hard for NFL teams to pass up on him multiple times in Day 3 if Sills puts up back-to-back 15+ touchdown seasons. With Sills up to five scores in three games, that number is within reach, especially with Texas Tech on schedule next.
Sep 22 - 7:20 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior WR Parris Campbell caught eight passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-6 win against Tulane on Saturday.

Campbell is a ludicrously explosive athlete whose touches have always been held down due to how many mouths the Buckeyes coaching staff has to feed on offense. He didn't play much in the second half today due to the score, but boy did Campbell make it hurt for Tulane in the first half. Nay, first quarter. Campbell scored twice in the opening stanza with a 5-111-2 line before the second quarter had even begun. He's an intriguing NFL prospect to keep an eye on.
Sep 22 - 7:16 PM

West Virginia senior QB Will Grier completed 25-of-35 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday's 35-6 win over Kansas State.

Grier (6'2/223) has thrown for at least 332 yards and four touchdowns in all three games to start his senior Heisman campaign. All the Mountaineers receivers have to do is get a little separation and Grier will loft a perfect ball right into their laps. In the blowout win, Grier had scores of 82 yards (Marcus Simms) and 62 yards (Tevin Bush), but David Sills caught three goal line touchdowns to steal the show. Grier brings in a 14:1 TD:INT ratio and a 11.75 YPA into next Saturday's matchup against Texas Tech. Expect a couple points to be scored in that game.
Sep 22 - 7:08 PM

Clemson freshman QB Trevor Lawrence completed 13-of-18 passes for 176 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 49-21 win over Georgia Tech.

Kelly Bryant drew the start on Saturday, but he was unable to drive the offense to any serious degree after kickoff and it was Lawrence who ended up seeing the majority of work on the afternoon. And boy howdy, did he deliver. The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder hit on three of his four touchdown passes in the second quarter to deliver the Tigers to a 28-7 halftime lead. Lawrence has now thrown for an even 600 yards with a 9/2 TD/INT ratio. Given the amount of playing time he received on Saturday, we would be none too surprised if the freshman stud starts at home against Syracuse next weekend. We'll be keeping a close eye on the quarterbacking situation, here, over the coming practice week.
Sep 22 - 7:04 PM

Baylor sophomore QB Charlie Brewer went 19-of-27 for 221 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 26-7 win over Kansas.

He also ran for 56 yards. Up to this point, Brewer had been rotating with redshirt junior Jalen McClendon. That was the expectation heading into this one, too, but Brewer was nearly perfect in the first half, throwing for three TD, and Baylor kept McClendon planted on the bench until garbage time late in the fourth. Perhaps Brewer has earned the job to himself going forward.
Sep 22 - 7:02 PM

Miami redshirt freshman QB N’Kosi Perry completed 17-of-25 passes for 224 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in a 31-17 victory over Florida International on Saturday.

He also ran for 43 yards. Malik Rosier got the start and played the first two series, but didn’t liked the Hurricanes to any points. Perry came in after, and provided a spark to the Miami offense. He showed off his impressive speed, but he was also accurate in the pocket and had a real connection with freshman TE Brevin Jordan over the middle. He also found Lawrence Cager for two scores, and he took advantage of Florida International leaving the middle of the field wide open. It shouldn’t shock anyone if Perry got the start next Saturday against North Carolina on Thursday.
Sep 22 - 6:53 PM

Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore QB Josh Jackson was carted off in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game at Old Dominion with an apparent left foot injury.

Should Jackson be sidelined for an extended period of time, that would be a major blow for the Hokies to absorb as they look to contend in the ACC Coastal. The redshirt sophomore, who returned to the field on crutches with a boot on his left foot, entered Saturday's game having completed 66.7 percent of his passes and thrown for 424 yards and three touchdowns. Redshirt junior Ryan Willis, who played two seasons at Kansas before transferring to Virginia Tech, replaced Jackson in the lineup.
Sep 22 - 6:53 PM

Texas Tech freshman QB Alan Bowman will start Saturday's game against Oklahoma State.

Bowman will make his third consecutive start, as McLane Carter remains out nursing an ankle injury. The true freshman lit it up last weekend, winning Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors for his 605-yard, five-touchdown performance against Houston in Week 4. Time for an encore?
Sep 22 - 6:30 PM

Texas Tech redshirt sophomore RB Da'Leon Ward is not in uniform for Saturday's game against Oklahoma State.

This is a major concern for Texas Tech, as Ward was held out of their Sept. 8 win over Lamar with an eye towards his being able to return the following week. That wasn't the case, and now the redshirt sophomore will miss his third straight game. Ta'Zhawn Henry, who rushed for 111 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries in Texas Tech's Sept. 15 win over Houston, stands to be the primary ball-carrier against Texas Tech.
Sep 22 - 6:28 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior Mike Weber left Saturday's game against Tulane with an apparent right ankle injury.

How serious the injury is has yet to be determined, and with Ohio State leading Tulane comfortably there wasn't much need for Weber to return. That being said the Buckeyes have a critical Big Ten East matchup with Penn State scheduled for Sept. 29, and they'll need Weber to be at his best in order to leave Happy Valley with the win. This is a major story to keep track of in the coming days.
