Miami junior TE Michael Irvin Jr. (knee) is expected to miss the next four months.

Irvin (6'2/230) injured his right MCL in practice earlier this week and will be undergoing surgery to repair the issue. With a four-month timetable for return, it's in play that the junior tight end could potentially miss the entire season upcoming, or close to it. He had been angling for a starting role in camp, but with those dreams now scuttled, the Hurricanes will have to reassess their options. Brevin Jordan -- Rivals' No. 49 overall prospect in the 2018 class -- is an intriguing name to watch moving forward.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva has been talking to SEC officials to appeal junior LB Devin White's half-game suspension due to a targeting penalty called against Mississippi State.

White (6'0/240) is set to miss the first half of next week's extremely important game against No. 1 Alabama, so LSU officials are trying to do everything they can to appeal the suspension. While it's worth trying since he's such a talented player, it's an uphill that the SEC overturns the call since their isn't an appeals process set up. Alabama will be rightfully upset if the SEC overturns the call.

Purdue redshirt senior RB D.J. Knox was named the Walter Camp Player of the Week for his performance against Ohio State.

Knox (5'7/210) and the Boilermakers upset the No. 2 Buckeyes in front of their home crowd. The redshirt senior scored three touchdowns and ran for 128 yards on just 16 carries. His 8.0 yard per carry and true freshman RonDale Moore were the two main reasons Purdue came out on top. In total, Knox has eight touchdowns, but rushing touchdowns will be hard to get against Michigan State's stout rushing defense.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there is a "very strong sentiment" that Oregon junior QB Justin Herbert will stay in school for his senior season in 2019.

Several NFL scouts have spoken with Herberts' contacts and friends who said they would be "very surprised" if he decided to go pro this spring. This report coincidentally comes after two of Herbert's worst games on the season. He's viewed as the QB1 of this class by most draft scouts and would likely be a top-5 selection if he decides to declare. Herbert remaining at Oregon for 2019 would provide a huge boost to the team's title chances next season.

UCLA freshman QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (undisclosed) completed 5-of-8 passes for 103 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in Saturday's 31-30 win against Arizona, but he exited with an undisclosed injury.

HC Chip Kelly said after the game that he didn't know what Thompson-Robinson's injury was but that he wasn't available in the second half. Opening game starter Wilson Speight took the reins and led the Bruins to the one-point win, their second consecutive successful weekend after an 0-5 start. It's uncertain who will be Kelly's starting signal caller on Friday night when Utah pays a visit.
Oct 21 - 2:20 AM

Utah junior QB Tyler Huntley completed 22-of-29 passes for 341 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's 41-24 win over USC.

The 341 passing yards and four passing touchdown tied career highs. Huntley also ran for 33 yards and a touchdown to put the cherry on top of a great performance where he averaged 11.75 yards per pass attempt. The Trojans had zero answers defensively, and the game was essentially over when J.T. Daniels (concussion) left the game. Utah now moves into first place in the PAC 12 South, but they need to take care of business against UCLA next week to keep it that way.

Washington State senior QB Gardner Minshew completed 39-of-51 passes for 323 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday's 34-20 win over Oregon.

The day in Pullman began in raucous fashion with College Gameday and it ended with Minshew playing up to the moment. Outside of a somewhat wobbly third quarter, he and his Cougar teammates were locked in throughout. He capped the game off with a 22-yard touchdown pass down the middle to Dezmon Patmon with just under four minutes remaining to put Wazzu up by 14 points, essentially icing any chance of a comeback barring strange happening. Minshew has now thrown at least three touchdown passes in every game this season save for one. The Cougars will look to improve to 7-1 on the campaign when they play Stanford next weekend.
Oct 20 - 11:59 PM

Purdue redshirt senior RB D.J. Knox ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in a 49-20 crushing of Ohio State on Saturday.

Knox (5'7/210) has been sensational as of late, and he followed his 150 yard effort against Illinois with one of his best efforts against the No.2 team in the country. The three touchdowns give him eight on the season, and five in the last three games for the senior. Knox will face one of the toughest run defenses in the country in Michigan State, but the way the Boilermakers are playing, they have a great chance of moving the ball again next Saturday.
Oct 20 - 11:32 PM

Purdue freshman WR Rondale Moore caught 12 passes for 170 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 24 yards in a 49-20 blowout upset victory over Ohio State on Saturday.

Wow. Moore put on a show on Saturday, showing that he's capable of competing -- and beating -- the very best. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound wideout turned several short catches into long plays, and he has his third double-digit catch game of his career already. This is a star, folks. Plain and simple. Moore will have a chance to continue his impressive freshman campaign next Saturday against Michigan State.
Oct 20 - 11:26 PM

UCF redshirt freshman QB Darriel Mack completed 12-of-20 passes for 111 yards and ran for 120 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in a 37-10 victory over East Carolina on Saturday.

Mack was making the start in place of an injured McKenzie Milton, and while he did not make anyone say "McKenzie who?," it was good enough. Mack was especially effective on the ground, and he kept several drives going by churning out yardage. It's not believed that the Milton injury is serious, but if the Knights hold him out again, Mack will get the start against Temple on November 1.
Oct 20 - 10:33 PM

Mississippi State sophomore RB Kylin Hill is currently out of Saturday's game at LSU due to an apparent leg injury.

The specifics regarding Hill's injury are unknown at this time, but the fact that he's in pads but no longer has his helmet is not a good sign. Mississippi State's best running back, the sophomore rushed for 42 yards on eight carries prior to his departure. Should Hill not be able to return Aeris Williams will continue to play, but the absence also places even more responsibility in the run game upon the shoulders of QB Nick Fitzgerald.
Oct 20 - 9:29 PM

Minnesota freshman QB Zack Annexstad, who left Saturday's game at Nebraska due to an injury to his midsection, has been released from a Lincoln hospital and is traveling back to Minnesota with the team.

Minnesota HC P.J. Fleck said after the game that trainers began to notice an issue with Annexstad late in the first half, and the decision was ultimately made to take him to the hospital. "He was coughing a lot and our trainers did a great job of jumping into action," Fleck said after the game. It remains to be seen whether or not the freshman will be available for Minnesota's next game, October 26 against Indiana.
