Saturday's Appalachian State-Southern Miss game will not be played due to Hurricane Florence, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Appalachian State officials say they are attempting to reschedule the game. In this case, that shouldn't be too difficult, as fortuitously both schools have a bye on Saturday Oct. 6.
Sep 12 - 1:30 PM

Washington State senior QB Gardner Minshew completed 43-of-55 passes for 473 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 69-28 win against Arizona.

The mustachioed graduate transfer was on his way to special things early on. He and the Cougars held a 55-14 lead at halftime, with Minshew piling up 311 yards and five touchdowns by the break. The Wazzu QB has been ridiculous, throwing for 319 or more yards in all 11 of his outings while tossing two or more touchdowns in 10 of his starts. He'll look to keep it rolling next weekend in the Apple Cup against rival Washington.
Nov 18 - 3:11 AM

North Carolina freshman RB Javonte Williams rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in Saturday's 49-26 win over Western Carolina.

Williams (5'11/205) entered the game with a whole 48 rushing yards, so calling Saturday's performance a breakout game would be under selling it. The freshman back cleaned up near the goal line, as he converted three attempts for touchdowns. When he wasn't scoring short yardage touchdowns, Williams was picking up yards (5.5 YPC). With the season essentially over, the Tar Heels could continue to give their freshman some reps against North Carolina State next week.
Nov 18 - 12:56 AM

Ole Miss junior WR A.J. Brown caught nine passes for 212 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 36-29 overtime loss to Vanderbilt.

Brown (6'1/225) showed off his first-round abilities once again on a night where he broke his career high for receiving yards. If you want to see what he has to offer, watch the video in the link below. Brown caught a short pass, then broke a tackle, before outrunning the Vanderbilt defense for an 84-yard touchdown. It's plays like this that will get him drafted high in the upcoming NFL Draft. Brown gets one more regular season game (Mississippi State) to showcase his skills.

Nov 18 - 12:16 AM

Ole Miss senior QB Jordan Ta'amu completed 32-of-51 passes for 457 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday's 36-29 overtime loss to Vanderbilt.

This was a tough loss for the Rebels, who failed to score on their only overtime possession, but it was another big yardage game for Ta'amu. The senior quarterback gets the privilege of throwing the ball to A.J. Brown and DaMarkus Lodge, who combined for 329 yards and two touchdowns, but Ta'amu is a playmaker in his own right. On the season, Ta'amu has averaged 9.7 yards per pass attempt, and he will look to finish off a strong regular season against Mississippi State next week.
Nov 18 - 12:10 AM

UCF junior QB McKenzie Milton completed 13-of-25 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a short touchdown in Saturday's 38-13 win over Cincinnati.

The game started out in ignoble fashion for the Knights, with Milton fumbling at his own goal line, a fumble which Cincinnati recovered for a touchdown. That occurred with a little under five minutes gone off the first-quarter clock. The junior signal-caller would rebound from his shaky beginning, though, rushing for a three-yard touchdown before that quarter's end and then proceeding to hit on a pair of passing touchdowns in the second quarter and one more in the third. Through nine games played, Milton has now accounted for 33 total touchdowns. With Saturday's victory, the Knights clinched their berth in the AAC Championship Game. They will square off for conference supremacy with the winner of next weekend's showdown between Memphis and Houston.
Nov 17 - 11:56 PM

Vanderbilt senior QB Kyle Shurmur completed 22-of-34 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in Saturday's 36-29 overtime win over Ole Miss.

Shurmur led the Commodores into overtime, and then he found wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb for a five-yard touchdown that ended up being the game winning score. The touchdown pass was No. 60 for his career, which gives him the Vanderbilt career passing touchdown record previously held by Jay Cutler. On the season, Shurmur has 20 passing touchdowns and just five interceptions, which is keeping NFL eyes on the senior quarterback. Shurmur will get one more collegiate game next week against the Vols before he heads to the Draft.
Nov 17 - 11:51 PM

Kansas freshman RB Pooka Williams carried the ball 15 times for 252 yards with two touchdowns and threw for another score in a 55-40 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday.

My goodness. The Jayhawks offense is certainly not the reason that they fell to Oklahoma, and Williams was as good as we've seen him. That's saying something. He also added three catches for 18 yards, and it's the first time we've seen the 5-foot-10, 171-pound freshman reach triple digits since September 15. That has way more to do with Kansas than it does with Pooka. Williams is a star, and Les Miles -- or whatever coach Kansas ends up with -- should be thrilled to have him. He'll close out the year against Texas on Friday.
Nov 17 - 11:05 PM

Oklahoma redshirt junior QB Kyler Murray threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 21-of-32 passing, and ran for 99 yards and three scores in a 55-40 victory over Kansas on Saturday.

Whew. Murray was ridiculous on Saturday -- again -- and might have had his Heisman moment in the close victory. After the Jayhawks pulled to within 11 at 35-24, Murray dashed for 75 yards, and he showed off his quickness and speed on the run, making a couple attempted tacklers look foolish. This is a two-man Heisman race -- with apologies to Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor -- and Murray is right there in large part to efforts like this. A marquee showdown with West Virginia comes on Friday. We can't wait.
Nov 17 - 10:59 PM

Texas A&M junior RB Trayveon Williams rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in Saturday's 41-20 win over UAB.

Yet another beautiful performance from Williams, who has really found his groove under HC Jimbo Fisher. The 5-foot-8, 200-pound junior consistently ripped off chunk yardage on his way to averaging 8.35 YPC for the game, putting in a long run of 47 yards. Just about our only quibble, here, has nothing to do with Williams himself. For reasons unknown, Fisher had Williams taking carries with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, when the game was well out of hand. While he avoided picking up a garbage time injury, it was still an unwarranted risk. Looking beyond this game, Williams has now rushed for 1,326 yards and 13 touchdowns. We found ourselves consistently frustrated with his output under Kevin Sumlin, but now we are starting to see what he can do when given a competent game plan. Fun stuff. Up next on the docket for the Aggies, a Week 13 date with LSU.
Nov 17 - 10:46 PM

Clemson sophomore RB Travis Etienne ran for 81 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns in a 35-6 rout of Duke on Saturday.

Etienne was one of 10 players to get a carry for the Tigers on Saturday, and to no one's surprise, he was the most effective. Things started slow, but the talented sophomore came on strong in the third quarter. He rumbled in from 27 yards to give Clemson a 21-6 lead, and a few minutes later, he scored from 29 yards out to up the lead to 28-6. The Tigers remain undefeated, and will take on rival South Carolina next Saturday.
Nov 17 - 10:33 PM

Texas sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger (shoulder) is considered to be questionable to return to Saturday's game against Iowa State after re-aggravating a right shoulder injury during the first half.

Ehlinger took a hard hit late in the first half and was taken to the locker room ahead of his teammates just before halftime. The sophomore signal-caller returned to the sideline early in the second half and did some throwing on the sideline while backup Shane Buechele led the offense on the field. Ehlinger's return would be big for a Texas squad that still has a shot at earning a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.
