Southern Miss has reinstated redshirt senior QB Kwadra Griggs from his indefinite suspension.

Griggs (6'3/225) was hit with an indefinite suspension on Aug. 11 in relation to a "student conduct matter." Now that he's been reinstated, Southern Miss will have a decision to make. Griggs was a seven-game starter a year ago, but in his absence, JUCO transfer Jack Abraham has come out firing to open the campaign, throwing for 620 yards (71.2-percent completions) with a 6/2 TD/INT ratio in just two games. Our hunch is that Abraham receives at least one more start -- he has earned the benefit of the doubt with his early play -- but in the short term, anyway, this will be up in the air. Southern Miss is off on bye this weekend, so they have another week of practice to determine a definitive direction at quarterback before they play their next game, against Rice on Sept. 22.

Syracuse senior QB Eric Dungey (lower back) was helped off of the field during the first quarter of Saturday's game against Notre Dame.

Dungey (6'4/226) appeared to land awkwardly while being tackled, and after getting back to his feet ahead of the next play he went down on the field. The senior signal-caller was eventually helped off of the field by team trainers, eventually walking back to the locker room for further evaluation. Redshirt freshman Tommy DeVito, who's seen playing time this season, has replaced Dungey in the lineup.
Nov 17 - 3:14 PM

Ohio State redshirt junior RB Mike Weber (undisclosed) has not played in Saturday's game against Maryland.

According to the ABC broadcast crew Weber has not played due to an injury that the team refused to disclose. As a result J.K. Dobbins has seen most of the playing time at running back, racking up 32 carries in the first three-plus quarters of the game. Weber has rushed for 711 yards and four touchdowns on 127 carries this season.
Nov 17 - 3:02 PM

Wisconsin junior QB Alex Hornibrook (head) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Purdue.

In fact, he's not even in the building. Hornibrook stayed in Madison as his teammates traveled to West Lafayette. Jack Coan will draw another start in his absence.
Nov 17 - 1:48 PM

TCU sophomore QB Michael Collins exited Saturday's game against Baylor with a right ankle injury.

As Collins attempted a pass, his foot got stuck in the ground as he was dragged to the ground. He was tended to on the field and needed help from trainers to leave the gridiron. With Shawn Robinson and Justin Rogers already ruled out for the year, TCU is down to Grayson Muehlstein at quarterback.
Nov 17 - 12:45 PM

Wake Forest senior RB Matt Colburn (lower leg) is not dressed for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh.

Colburn exited last Thursday's upset victory over NC State early with a sprained ankle and apparently hasn't sufficiently mended. Cade Carney and Christian Beal should divvy carries against the Wolfpack.
Nov 17 - 11:59 AM

Boise State redshirt senior WR Sean Modster brought down nine catches for 129 yards with three touchdowns in a 45-14 victory over New Mexico on Friday.

Modster has scored in only three games this year, but he still has seven touchdowns on the season. Nothing wrong with scoring touchdowns in bunches. He also went over the century mark for the third time this season, and he's been one of Brett Rypien's most reliable targets in 2018. Boise State improves to 9-2, and they'll have a monster game next Saturday against Utah State that will determine the MWC Mountain champion.
Nov 17 - 12:29 AM

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Jeff Potrykus passes along that Wisconsin junior QB Alex Hornibrook (head) is unlikely to start Saturday's game against Purdue.

Hornibrook has not been ruled out officially as of yet, but was listed as questionable on the Thursday depth chart. That, coupled with Potrykus' little note in his game preview posted on Friday, would seem to strongly indicate that the Badgers plan on sitting the junior for a second straight game. Jack Coan would draw his second consecutive start -- and third overall -- if Hornibrook's still-lingering concussion symptoms keep him out of action once again.
Nov 16 - 5:10 PM

The Houston Chronicle's Joseph Duarte reports that junior QB D'Eriq King will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

King (5'11/195) suffered the injury following an innocuous handoff late in the second quarter of Thursday's win over Tulane. After limping to the sideline, he was then loaded on a cart and taken to the locker room. He was not touched on the play in question and after the game, Cougars HC Major Applewhite indicated that the team was surprised when King told them that he could not straighten out his leg. It's a major blow for Houston, as the junior signal-caller has accounted for 50 total touchdowns in 11 games this season. Clayton Tune -- a true freshman -- will finish out the short remainder of the year as starter, now.

Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger reports that Kansas is finalizing a contract agreement with former LSU HC Les Miles.

Per Dellenger, an announcement on Miles' hiring could come as early as this weekend. The former Tigers head coach has been linked to the open job in Lawrence ever since the team fired David Beaty at the beginning of the month. He and KU AD Jeff Long have a relationship which goes back to the 1980's. Miles went 114-34 at LSU prior to his midseason firing in 2016, but would be in for a major rebuilding project with Kansas should he accept this job. Potential contract length and monetary terms, here, remain an unknown. Stay tuned.

Saturday's contest between Cal and Stanford has been rescheduled for Dec. 1.

This was the safe, logical move, as the California wildfires have pushed the air quality into dangerous territory for not only playing a football game, but merely sitting outside for a multi-hour stretch. Because neither Cal nor Stanford will be heading to the Pac-12 Championship Game, this Dec. 1 date works well enough for both parties.
Nov 16 - 4:15 PM

The kickoff of Saturday's game between Nevada and San Jose State has been moved from 5 PM EST to 3 PM EST due to concerns over air quality.

At this time, there is no plan to cancel the game outright. The kickoff was moved up as a result of the wildfires raging across the state of California. This may not end up the only game impacted by the air quality, as Stanford and Cal are likewise monitoring the situation. For now, that contest between the Cardinal and Golden Bears is still scheduled to kick at 7:30 PM EST on Saturday.
