Michigan junior RB Chris Evans (undisclosed) is expected to play on Saturday against Wisconsin.

Evans warmed up for Saturday's game against Maryland, but ultimately ended up sitting out the win. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back has battled injuries for most of the year, but the talented tailback is expected back for a huge game against the Badgers on Saturday. He and Karen Higdon should see the majority of the carries against Wisconsin.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Utah State will hire Utah co-special teams coordinator/LB coach Justin Ena to serve as defensive coordinator.

Ena has been part of HC Kyle Whittingham's staff since 2015. While he does not have coordinating experience at the FBS level, he is not completely unfamiliar with the staff position, having served as DC with both Weber State (2014) and Southern Utah (2010-13). Aggies HC Gary Andersen is all about Ena and was pumping up the future hire (unnamed at the time) during his introductory press conference at USU earlier this month, saying that he had planned on calling defensive plays himself before he zeroed in on his future coordinator.
Dec 13 - 6:50 PM

Memphis junior RB Darrell Henderson will not play in the team's Birmingham Bowl date with Wake Forest on Dec. 22.

No real surprise with this one after Henderson declared for the draft on Wednesday. The electric junior sprints off into the sunset having rushed for 1,909 yards (8.9 YPC) and 22 touchdowns during the 2018 season. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller views him as a potential Day 2 selection for the spring. As for Memphis' plight sans Henderson, Patrick Taylor (1,012 yards, 15 touchdowns) is about as able a backup as you will find in the country. He'll look to put the hurt on the Demon Deacons -- now in a lead role -- upcoming.
Dec 13 - 6:19 PM

Uncommitted five-star 2019 DE Kayvon Thibodeaux will make his pledge during halftime of the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Saturday.

All the more reason to tune in for Saturday's showdown between North Texas and Utah State (a fascinating matchup in its own right). That game will kick off at 2:00 PM EST on Saturday and will air on ESPN. Thibodeaux (6'5/220) is deciding between Florida, Alabama, FSU, USC and Oregon. On the 247Sports composite board, the star-in-training ranks as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He possesses all the speed you need off the edge, as well as a sharp mind for how to operate within the flow of a given game.
Dec 13 - 5:29 PM

Outgoing Miami DC Manny Diaz will coach in the team's Pinstripe Bowl showdown with Wisconsin on Dec. 27.

Diaz was introduced as Temple's new head coach on Thursday, but he is not completely done with the Hurricanes, explaining to reporters that he "just wanted to be with [the Miami team] one last time." Split attention between a new job -- with the early signing window about to open -- and an old one during bowl season is a tale as old as time, though not always a tale which ends in clean fashion.
Dec 13 - 5:16 PM

UCF junior QB McKenzie Milton (leg) will undergo another surgery following a Thursday ultrasound.

Milton (5'11/185) has already undergone at least three surgical procedures since suffering a catastrophic leg injury against USF in the final game of the regular season. Knights HC Josh Heupel indicated earlier this month that it's currently up in the air as to whether the junior signal-caller will be able to play football in 2019. In the short term, Milton will be traveling with his team for their Fiesta Bowl showdown with LSU. Darriel Mack will start that contest. We'll continue to pass along updates on Milton's progress in rehab as information becomes available.
Dec 13 - 5:03 PM

Arizona State received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 QB Jayden Daniels.

And with that, one of the biggest remaining recruiting dominoes has fallen away. Daniels (6'2/165) was additionally considering UCLA and Utah for his pledge before ultimately throwing his lot in with ASU HC Herm Edwards and company (heck of a recruiting win for Herm). On the 247Sports composite board, Daniels ranks as the No. 82 overall prospect in the 2019 class and the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback recruit for the cycle. It's early yet, but don't be surprised if Daniels pushes for the starting job immediately, here, with Manny Wilkins set to move on in graduation. He is expected to enroll early and take part in spring practice (always crucial for early development). As for his on-field skill-set, Daniels is set to enter the collegiate ranks as one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the class, though he does have some work to do on the technical and mechanical fronts. Added bulk will be a must, too.

Oklahoma redshirt junior QB Kyler Murray will receive a draft grade from the College Advisory Committee.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy, are things starting to get interesting now. One NFL scout told Sports Illustrated's Kalyn Kahler that there's "a lot of smoke being thrown around" relating to Murray entering the draft, while another evaluator familiar with Oklahoma’s program relayed to Kahler that the Sooners tend to only request evaluations for players they believe will enter the draft. Murray's agent, Scott Boras, said flat-out prior to the OU star winning the Heisman that he would be fulfilling his contractual obligations with the Oakland A's, but has since couched his statements by degrees. MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported on Wednesday that there was a provision in his A's contract which would require him to forego a large portion (exact amount unknown) of his bonus should he opt in with the NFL. One possibility, here, would be that Murray could get drafted and still play minor league baseball in 2019, with the drafting club retaining his rights through the 2019 season.

AL.com's Matt Zenitz reports that former Maryland HC D.J. Durkin has been working in a "consultant-like capacity" for Alabama over the past week.

Durkin was canned by Maryland midseason following a tragic, irresponsible summer and reports of a toxic culture at the program. It's not that unusual to see Alabama reach out to somewhat unorthodox names to gain an edge -- Steve Sarkisian, Lane Kiffin and Butch Jones have all spent time in Tuscaloosa over the last three years -- but even so, Durkin pushes that approach to the edge. Zenitz is reporting that it is unclear at this juncture whether there's any possibility for a long-term role, here.

Transferring Auburn freshman RB Asa Martin is taking an official visit to Miami this weekend.

Martin (6'0/193) indicated that while multiple Power 5 outfits have been in touch with him, Miami has been pushing the hardest. Don't be surprised if this Hurricanes visit turns into an outright Hurricanes transfer -- the freshman back said that he'd like to come to a decision within the "next couple days," and it would appear that he has no other visits lined up at this juncture. Martin put pen to paper with Auburn as a four-star recruit in the 2018 class. In a minor bit of controversy, the Tigers mangled his freshman year, playing him in five games (he rushed for 57 yards) and preventing him from taking a redshirt for the campaign.

Appalachian State hired NC State OC Eliah Drinkwitz to serve as head coach.

Looks like App State found their Scott Satterfield replacement. Drinkwitz came to NC State three years ago after spending the previous two campaigns with Boise State. He has a sharp offensive mind and has helped develop two of the brand name quarterbacks currently in our lives in BSU's Brett Rypien and NC State's Ryan Finley. This season, Drinkwitz's offense with the Wolfpack averaged 35.6 points per game. This is a hire we very much like on the offensive side. A few strong staff hires on defense would be palatable.

Washington received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 CB Trent McDuffie.

McDuffie picks the Huskies over schools like USC, Stanford and Oregon. He was considered a lean for Washington for some time, but it's now official. It's an important get for a secondary that is (likely) to lose several quality players, including starting corners Jordan Miller and Byron Murphy. The Huskies have plenty of talented recruits waiting in the wings, but McDuffie (5'11/186) is rated the eighth best corner in the class, so he could be an immediate contributor.
