Suspended junior WR Quintez Cephus is suing the University of Wisconsin, claiming that the school has violated his constitutional rights.

The claim comes after Cephus was the subject of a Title IX investigation without his ability to "participate in an interview or otherwise meaningfully participate in the university’s process." Two days after claiming innocence and taking a leave of absence from the team, Cephus was charged in late August with felony sexual assault of an intoxicated victim and felony sexual assault. A Wisconsin spokesman said that "[w]e have not yet reviewed this lawsuit. However, we are confident that our processes related to these types of investigations comply with federal law."

UConn redshirt junior LB Eli Thomas remains hospitalized but is in stable condition following the stroke he suffered on Oct. 10.

Thomas suffered the stroke before a morning weightlifting session. He's making "good progress," according to the team. Thomas, who missed the 2017 campaign while rehabbing a torn ACL, transferred to UConn from Lackawanna College. "Thank you for all your love and well wishes for Eli," Thomas' mother, Mary Beth Turner, said in a statement. "To say we are stunned by this turn of events is an understatement! A strong, healthy, 22-year-old man having a stroke is not anything we anticipated. However, Eli will fight back as he has with every challenge that has come his way with 'Eli Style.'"

USC senior LB Porter Gustin suffered a season-ending fractured ankle late in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s victory over Colorado.

"We are all kind of numb right now, to be honest with you," USC head coach Clay Helton said. "He’s a force of nature, and you think of him as a superhero, as Thor ... and to know that he’s not going to be with us for the remaining part of the season is obviously something that hurts us all." Gustin will undergo surgery and then will begin rehabilitation to prepare for the NFL draft. This is obviously a tough blow for USC, as well as to Gustin's NFL stock. Gustin has been one of the Pac-12's best defenders the past three years when he's been healthy, but he struggles to stay on the field. Gustin was limited to only four games last year due to toe and biceps injuries. He also suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee during camp this summer.

According to Bruce Feldman, Texas is optimistic sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger (shoulder sprain) will play against Oklahoma State on October 27th.

The sophomore quarterback suffered a Grade 1 AC shoulder sprain to his right arm against Baylor on Saturday, but Texas has their bye week right now, which is giving Ehlinger enough time to heal up ahead of their next game. If Ehlinger suffers a setback, then Shane Buechele will draw the start. Texas is now all the way up to No. 7 in the country.
Oct 14 - 4:06 PM

Arizona State senior QB Manny Wilkins (leg) practiced on Sunday and will be fine for next Thursday's game against Stanford.

Wilkins didn't practice last Wednesday during their bye week after injuring his leg in the fourth quarter of October 6th's game against Colorado. The senior quarterback will bring an 11/1 TD/INT ratio into the PAC-12 battle. Stanford's defense has only allowed 1.2 passing touchdowns per game this season.

Bowling Green has fired head coach Mike Jinks.

The Falcons moved to 1-6 after losing 42-35 to Western Michigan on Saturday. Finks has served as the head coach since being promoted from running backs coach in late 2015. Before being named head coach, Jinks had only three years of college experience with most of his coaching coming within Texas high school football. Finks finished with seasonal records of 4-8, 2-10, and 1-6. Defensive coordinator Carl Pelini will serve as the interim head coach.

October 14th's AP Poll: 1) Alabama, 2) Ohio State, 3) Clemson, 4) Notre Dame, 5) LSU, 6) Michigan, 7) Texas, 8) Georgia, 9) Oklahoma, 10) UCF

After picking up big wins, LSU climbed eight spots and Michigan climbed six spots to crack the Top-10. There are five teams with one loss ahead of undefeated UCF. West Virginia dropped to No. 13 after losing to Iowa State, Washington dropped to No. 15 after losing to Oregon, and Penn State dropped to N0. 18 after losing to Michigan State. The Spartans (No. 24) are joined by Iowa (No. 19) and Washington State (No. 25) as teams who are in the Top-25 who weren't last week. San Diego State, Appalachian State, and Utah State all received votes, but they didn't make it in.

Minnesota senior RB Shannon Brooks was arrested Sunday morning for probable cause of domestic assault.

Brooks was arrested at 2:39 AM so it was technically Sunday morning but he was likely still out from the night prior. He's been recovering from a knee injury and was expected to take a redshirt season if it didn't heal properly. That may not be the case anymore with this serious off-field issue. He is being held without bond and more details of his arrest will likely emerge soon.
Oct 14 - 11:45 AM

Colorado sophomore WR Laviska Shenault (foot) left Saturday's game at USC due to a foot injury.

Shenault is considered questionable to return, but with a lopsided score on the board early in the fourth quarter it's hard to envision Shenault returning. He was on the training table with the staff checking out his foot, now he is on the sidelines without his helmet and does not appear to be coming back into the game. He finished with a 49-yard touchdown run and 72 receiving yards on nine grabs before departing. It won't get any easier next week, as Colorado travels to meet an angry Washington team, and it will be even worse if Shenault is unavailable. Stay tuned.
Oct 14 - 1:48 AM

Missouri senior QB Drew Lock completed 13-of-26 passes for 142 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in Saturday's 39-10 loss to Alabama.

Before the game, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline wrote that Lock needs to play well against Alabama or "red flags will be raised." Well... Lock didn't play well. The senior quarterback started the game with an interception that was nearly returned for a touchdown, but it wasn't just the INTs. Missouri wasn't able to move the ball with Lock averaging 5.46 yards per pass attempt. It's always tough for quarterbacks going against Bama defenses, but quarterbacks trying to sneak into the first round need to play better than how Lock played on Saturday. Lock will bring 12/6 TD/INT ratio into next week's game against Memphis.
Oct 14 - 12:20 AM

East Carolina senior WR Trevon Brown caught 13 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 42-20 loss to Houston.

Finally. We've been waiting for Brown to notch a performance like this all season. This was the 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior's first 100-yard showing of the campaign and also his first with double-digit receptions. For the season as a whole, the wideout has now caught 36 passes for 500 yards and three touchdowns. A showdown with undefeated UCF awaits the Pirates next weekend. We're not giving up hope on a strong second half for Brown -- fingers crossed that Saturday's showing gets him going in earnest.
Oct 14 - 12:04 AM

Ole Miss senior QB Jordan Ta'amu completed 26-of-35 passes for 387 yards with two touchdowns and interception, and ran for 141 yards and a score in a 37-33 victory over Arkansas on Saturday.

Some of this yardage was out of necessity. Ole Miss trailed 27-10 at one point, and were in danger of blowing out of the water. Ta'amu wasn't having it. He was outstanding -- particularly in the second half -- and Arkansas had no answers over the final 30 minutes for his underrated speed and arm. Take away his ugly efforts against Alabama and LSU, and the senior signal-caller has been outstanding in 2018. A winnable game against Auburn comes up next Saturday.
