Ian Poulter was one of 26 golfers to earn an exemption into the U.S. Open via the updated Official World Golf Ranking.
The top 60 following this weekend's action around the globe received tee times at Merion if they didn't already have one. At 16th in the OWGR, Poulter ranked highest among those not already eligible. The remaining qualifiers are: Peter Hanson (23rd), Jason Day (25th), Branden Grace (30th), Bill Haas (31st), Henrik Stenson (34th), Thorbjørn Olesen (35th), Kevin Streelman (36th), Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (37th), Francesco Molinari (38th), Jamie Donaldson (42nd), David Lynn (43rd), Paul Lawrie (44th), Nicolas Colsaerts (45th), Tim Clark (46th), D.A. Points (47th), Thongchai Jaidee (48th), Fredrik Jacobson (51st), Richard Sterne (52nd), Billy Horschel (53rd), George Coetzee (54th), Boo Weekley (55th), Martin Laird (56th), Russell Henley (57th), Marcel Siem (58th) and Marc Leishman (60th). The top 60 in two weeks will also gain entry, but the better odds are via the sectional qualifiers tomorrow (Japan, England) and on June 3 (U.S.).
