ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Pirates have contacted the A's about a possible trade for Josh Willingham.

The Bucs are seeking an upgrade in the outfield, and Willingham represents a sensible option. He's not having a very good year in Oakland, but his track record suggests he'd give the Pirates a better option for right field than the Garrett Jones/Matt Diaz platoon.

Adam Duvall finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in the Reds' comeback victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Duvall doubled and scored the Reds' first run of the afternoon in the top of the sixth before cranking a two-run double in the Reds' game-tying three-run seventh. Duvall now has 17 RBI and 16 runs scored in 23 games this season, along with seven homers, two stolen bases, and an .842 OPS. He's on his way to matching the tremendous fantasy production from his breakout 2016.

Dallas Keuchel tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball as the Astros rolled to a 7-2 victory on Sunday.

Keuchel gave up just three hits and two walks while striking out nine in yet another dominant performance. He was working on a shutout until Ryon Healy hit a soft RBI single to center field in the top of the eighth. Keuchel moved to 5-0 with the win and boasts a 1.21 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 36/11 K/BB ratio through 44 2/3 innings (six starts) this season. A road start against the Angels is next for the 2015 AL Cy Young Award winner.
Apr 30 - 5:44 PM

Anthony Rendon went 6-for-6 with three homers and 10 RBI as the Nationals destroyed the Mets 23-5 on Sunday.

Rendon was quiet during the Nationals' outburst at Coors Field, but he made up for it today, raising his average from .221 to .278 and tripling his RBI total from five to 15. What was shaping up as an extremely disappointing month of April for him now looks more than respectable after just nine innings of play. Rendon's is the first 10-RBI game in the majors since the Angels' Garret Anderson had one Aug. 21, 2007 against the Yankees. He appears to be just the third player ever with six hits and 10 RBI in a game, joining Jim Bottomley (1924) and Walker Cooper (1949).

Domingo Santana slugged two home runs Sunday in the Brewers' 4-3 defeat of the Braves.

Santana hit a solo shot off Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz in the bottom of the fifth and then got to Folty again for a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth. Those four runs were all Milwaukee would need in the afternoon victory. Santana is batting just .197 this season, even after Sunday's 2-for-4, but he has five home runs and 12 RBI along with three stolen bases. There's real fantasy upside here.
Apr 30 - 5:19 PM

Ryan Braun was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Braves due to tightness in his right trapezius muscle.

Braun always seems to be banged up and has battled minor injuries throughout his career, with 2017 being no exception. It sounds as though it's the type of injury that will be day-to-day, but look for an update on his status from the Brewers after Sunday's game.
Apr 30 - 4:29 PM

Noah Syndergaard will travel back to New York to undergo an MRI for a possible strained right lat.

Whether the biceps tendinitis Syndergaard dealt with this past week led to him overcompensating and leading to a new injury isn't known, but either way this is obviously not good news. The big right-hander had good velocity Sunday in his start versus the Nationals, but his command was off and he was eventually pulled in the second inning. He'll go on the disabled list even if the MRI doesn't reveal anything too serious, but obviously this has the potential to be something that keeps Syndergaard on the shelf for a while.
Apr 30 - 3:43 PM

Avisail Garcia departed Sunday's game in Detroit with left groin tightness.

Garcia first felt tightness during Saturday's game but played through it. However, it came back Sunday and this time it was enough to force him from the game. The White Sox should offer an update on the hot-hitting outfielder after the game.
Apr 30 - 3:14 PM

Rockies activated INF/OF Ian Desmond from the 10-day disabled list.

Desmond looked so good during at-bats in extended spring training that he's making a return a little earlier than expected. He's starting in left field Sunday and will see plenty of playing time there with Mark Reynolds hitting so well as the first baseman. David Dahl (rib) is due back before long, so manager Bud Black will have some difficult decisions.
Apr 30 - 2:14 PM

The Dodgers' plan for the time being is to keep Rich Hill (blister) in the rotation.

The club had mulled over a move to the bullpen, with the thinking that using Hill in shorter doses would help to keep his nagging blister issue in control. That move may still be in the cards down the line, but the plan for now is to keep the lefty in the rotation. Hill will begin a rehab assignment Thursday. "I know we talked about it," manager Dave Roberts said, "but for the short term and the near term, we’re going to build him back up as a starter and insert him when we feel he’s healthy and can sustain health."
Apr 30 - 2:11 PM

Joc Pederson (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday or Thursday

Pederson ran the bases Sunday, clearing the way for his return to game action. He'll be activated on Friday if all goes well. The Dodgers still plan to send Cody Bellinger back to the minors once Pederson returns.
Apr 30 - 2:06 PM

Aaron Sanchez left Sunday's start versus the Rays after just one inning after splitting the nail on his right middle finger again.

Sanchez was making his first start since returning from minor surgery to remove part of the nail from his finger. He's almost surely headed back to the disabled list, but the Blue Jays should have more on his status after the game.
