Grady Sizemore underwent abdominal surgery Thursday in Philadelphia to repair a sports hernia.

Well, that's a surprise. Sizemore is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks following the surgery. The Indians projected that he would likely have to miss four weeks with his knee injury anyway, so they felt it made sense to address the hernia issue at this particular time. He's far from a sure thing the rest of the way, so look for the Indians to step up their efforts to land an outfielder before the trade deadline.

White Sox activated RHP David Robertson from the bereavement list.

Robertson was away from the club for a few days following the death of his father-in-law. Tommy Kahnle has been sent back to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move.

Reds manager Bryan Price revealed Sunday that Homer Bailey (elbow) has suffered a "slight setback."

The club doesn't think it's serious, although it's unclear how long this might delay Bailey's return. The Reds are also dealing with a setback for Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) and a shoulder injury to Raisel Iglesias. Bailey had been expected back by mid-May.

Devin Mesoraco (shoulder) remained out of the Reds' lineup Sunday.

Mesoraco is dealing with some stiffness in his left shoulder, although he's expected back in the lineup soon. Tucker Barnhart is behind the dish again Sunday.

Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports that Major League Baseball is likely to announce their suspension of Jose Reyes this week.

It's been six months since Reyes was arrested in Maui for alleged domestic abuse. The charge has since been dismissed, but MLB still has the power to suspend Reyes as long as they see fit. The suspension is expected to easily exceed the 30-game ban levied against Aroldis Chapman. Reyes' role for the Rockies is up in the air whenever he is reinstated, as Trevor Story has taken hold of the shortstop job.

Joe Panik (groin) remained out of the GI ants' lineup Sunday.

Panik is battling a groin injury and will sit out a second straight contest. Kelby Tomlinson is holding down second base again.

X-rays on Zach Britton's left ankle came back negative.

Britton is using crutches and in a soft boot on Sunday, but he's feeling much better and expects to avoid the disabled list. The closer still figures to be unavailable for a few games, which means Darren O'Day or possibly Brad Brach or Mychal Givens could receive some save chances.
May 1 - 10:53 AM

Danny Valencia (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, the first day he's eligible.

Valencia will begin a three-game rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Monday, playing third base twice and serving as a designated hitter once. Assuming all goes well, he'll be back with the A's next weekend in Baltimore. Valencia was off to a .294/.345/.353 start in his first 14 games before straining his hamstring.

Wade Miley dazzled the home crowd with a complete-game shutout against the Royals on Saturday night, allowing just five hits and walking no one.

The lefty entered the game having allowed 18 earned runs in 23 innings through his first four starts, but he was brilliant on Saturday night. He didn't allow a Royals batter to reach second base after the third inning, and he retired the last eight batters that he faced. He lowered his ERA to 5.06 on the year. Miley now has two wins in a row and will take that winning streak on the road to Houston for his next scheduled start.

Wil Myers enjoyed a big day at the plate in Saturday's win over the Dodgers, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, an RBI and a stolen base.

Many hoped that a permanent defensive home at first base would allow his hitting talent to finally shine through. After Saturday's banner performance, he's now batting .302/.343/.510 with five doubles, five homers and three stolen bases. His .375 BABIP suggests some regression is in the future; however, he owns a career .322 BABIP, which means any expected drop-off may not be as steep as we'd otherwise assume. He has been a top-five fantasy first baseman and finally appears to be fulfilling his top-prospect pedigree at 25 years old.

Brandon Drury temporarily tied the game with a two-run homer in the sixth inning against the Rockies on Saturday, but the Diamondbacks ultimately lost it in the ninth.

Drury is hitting .294/.310/.588 with four homers and 10 RBI, and he has now started seven-consecutive games at four different positions. The top-100 prospect is worth adding in deeper leagues, as he's a sneaky power option with second-base eligibility. It's worth noting, though, that he only has one walk in 71 PA. Patience has never been his forte in the minors, and big-league pitchers have a funny way of exploiting that weakness. His leash won't be too long, either, as the Diamondbacks have plenty of good hitters jockeying for playing time.

According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the possibility of the Brewers trading Ryan Braun is becoming "more realistic."

If the Brewers want to sell high, now would be the time to do it. Braun has gotten off to a great start, hitting .333 with five homers and 18 RBI over his first 22 games. The Brewers are sitting at 8-15 right now and things probably aren't going to get much better as the season wears on. Braun still has four years left on his contract so there's no immediate incentive to move him, though trading him to acquire prospects wouldn't be a bad move as Milwaukee looks to rebuild. The 32-year-old has the power to veto a trade to any team except the Angels, Dodgers, Marlins, Nationals and Rays.
