Elijah Dukes was arrested in the Tampa area on Thursday morning after he tried to eat a plastic bag of marijuana and had a marijuana blunt tucked behind his ear.

More trouble for the former top prospect. Dukes, who has been arrested five times over the past year, was pulled over after committing a traffic violation. He faces charges of tampering with physical evidence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a cancelled, suspended or revoked license. His bail was set at $4,750. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2009 and is unlikely to get another chance.

Carlos Rodon and the White Sox have agreed upon a deal for more than $6.45 million, pending a physical, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The third overall selection in the 2014 MLB Draft, Rodon got more than the $5.7 million slot amount. WRAL-TV's Jeff Graley, who first broke the news of the agreement, expects Rodon to be assigned to High-A Winston-Salem. He should be a fast-moving prospect who could be in Chicago at some point in 2015.

Roberto Hernandez needed only 84 pitches to hold the Brewers to one run over eight innings in Wednesday's victory.

Hernandez very easily could have taken the hill for the ninth inning, but manager Ryne Sandberg opted to let closer Jonathan Papelbon pick up the save. Hernandez limited the Brewers to three hits and two walks while striking out three in his most dominant start of the season. Now with a 4.22 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and a 70/51 K/BB ratio, Hernandez will face the Braves in Atlanta when the Phillies return from the All-Star break.

Doug Fister improved his record to 8-2 after limiting the Orioles to two runs over seven innings on Wednesday.

Fister put together his fourth consecutive quality start, holding the Orioles to seven hits -- including Manny Machado's solo home run -- and two walks while striking out three. Fister has turned out to be exactly what the Nationals hoped for when they traded for him, as he now carries a 2.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 45/8 K/BB ratio. When the Nationals return from the All-Star break, Fister will take the hill against the Brewers at home.

Billy Hamilton left Wednesday's game against the Cubs with a tight left hamstring.

Hamilton was seen grabbing his hamstring during his last at-bat, and he was double-switched out by manager Bryan Price in the eighth inning. The Reds should provide more information on the severity of the injury after the game.

Brandon Phillips left Wednesday's game against the Cubs with a sprained left thumb.

The injury initially appeared to be to his wrist, but the Reds clarified shortly after. Phillips hurt the thumb diving for a ball in the eighth inning. X-rays on the thumb came back negative, a good sign, but there's still no indication of how much time he might miss with the injury. We likely won't see him until after the All-Star break regardless.

In his first start since May 10, Dillon Gee held the Braves to one run over seven innings en route to his fourth win on Wednesday.

Gee had been out for nearly two months with a strained lat. His effort helped the Mets extend their winning streak to four games and they'll go for a series sweep against the Braves on Thursday. The right-hander held the Braves to six hits and a walk while striking out four. Gee, now 4-1, has a 2.56 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and a 37/16 K/BB ratio. He'll take the hill after the All-Star break, taking on the Padres in San Diego.

Carlos Ruiz (concussion) has been cleared to resume baseball activities after his second positive IMPACT test in three days.

Ruiz hasn't played since he was hit in the helmet by a pitch on June 26. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro had previously said Ruiz will start baseball activities this weekend if Wednesay's test went well. If things continue to progress, the catcher will likely be ready to go shortly after the All-Star break.

Adam Lind will miss the next six to eight weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right foot.

Lind played in games as recently as Monday, but an MRI revealed the fracture after the first basemen felt some discomfort in the foot. It's a huge blow for the struggling Blue Jays, as they're already missing Edwin Encarnacion for the next few weeks.
