According to Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles still plan to sign Seong-Min Kim.

Major League Baseball voided a deal between the O's and Kim in February because the Baltimore front office did not follow protocols laid out by the Korean Baseball Organization when courting the 17-year-old left-hander. But the Orioles are hoping to give it another shot soon. Kim has been suspended from baseball in Korea, so he's likely in a rush to get something done state-side.

Lance Lynn (elbow) is set to make a rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Springfield.

He'll likely throw around 50 pitches, or three innings. Lynn worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings in his minor league rehab debut last Monday with High-A Palm Beach and came out of the appearance with no abnormal discomfort in his surgically-repaired right elbow. He's made a miraculous recovery so far from Tommy John surgery and could be an option for the Cardinals in mid-to-late September.

Rangers activated OF Josh Hamilton from the 60-day disabled list; placed him on unconditional release waivers.

Hamilton underwent surgery in June for an ACL injury and to repair arterial and meniscus cartilage in his left knee. The 35-year-old outfielder is still owed $28.4 million in 2017, but the Angels are on the hook for most of that. He didn't appear in a single game this season and will turn 36 years old next May. It probably won't be a very fruitful free agent market for him.
Aug 23 - 4:57 PM

Luis Valbuena will undergo season-ending surgery on his strained right hamstring.

Valbuena came down the hamstring strain back in late July and then suffered a setback last week while running. Alex Bregman has since taken over as the Astros' primary third baseman, with Yulieski Gurriel recently working into the mix. Valbuena finishes the 2016 season with a .260/.357/.459 batting line, 13 home runs, and 40 RBI in 90 games. He will be a free agent this winter at age 31.

Chris Tillman (shoulder) is now questionable for his Thursday start against the Nationals.

Tillman has been bothered by shoulder discomfort for the last few weeks and apparently had a bad between-starts workout on Tuesday afternoon. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said he'll make a decision about the scheduled Thursday start on Wednesday. There probably won't be an update before then.
Aug 23 - 4:32 PM

Aledmys Diaz (thumb) was able to take grounders on Tuesday in St. Louis.

He is scheduled for a checkup with doctors next Monday and will hope to advance to full baseball activities at that point. Diaz has been on the disabled list since the end of July with a hairline fracture in his thumb. Greg Garcia and Jedd Gyorko have been doing most of the filling in at shortstop for the Cardinals.
Aug 23 - 4:25 PM

Devon Travis is out Tuesday due to an issue with the third knuckle on his right hand.

Travis received an injection and the Blue Jays are hoping he can return Wednesday. It doesn't sound like anything major. Darwin Barney is starting at second base and batting leadoff Tuesday versus the Angels.
Aug 23 - 4:21 PM

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said you can "pretty much count on" Jose Bautista (knee) returning from the disabled list when first eligible on Thursday.

Bautista has been on the 15-day disabled list since August 10 because of a left knee sprain. There haven't been many specific updates, but he is apparently making good progress on the side. The veteran slugger has registered a relatively disappointing .222/.349/.444 batting line with 15 home runs and 48 RBI in 80 games this season for Toronto.
Aug 23 - 4:18 PM

Yulieski Gurriel (hamstring) is out of the Astros' starting lineup again on Tuesday night.

Gurriel left his MLB debut on Sunday with right hamstring tightness and was limited to pinch-hitting duties on Monday. His status appears to be the same for Tuesday. Alex Bregman is starting at third base and batting second versus Pirates right-hander Ivan Nova.
Aug 23 - 4:05 PM

Huston Street is expected to undergo season-ending knee surgery.

It's a fitting end to a disastrous season for the veteran closer. Street was rarely healthy this year and struggled when he was, collecting a miserable 6.45 ERA over 26 outings. Rookie Cam Bedrosian (finger) has surpassed him and would probably be the favorite for saves if he were healthy. Fernando Salas has filled in at closer the past couple weeks. The Angels' bullpen has been a complete mess this year.
Aug 23 - 3:58 PM

Blue Jays activated OF Kevin Pillar from the 15-day disabled list.

He missed the minimum 15 days with a sprained thumb. Pillar will reclaim his starting job in center field with Melvin Upton shifting over to the left side. The 27-year-old is an elite defensive player but doesn't offer much fantasy appeal. He's hit .261 with seven homers and 10 steals over 421 at-bats this year.
Aug 23 - 3:27 PM

Marlins claimed OF Oswaldo Arcia off waivers from the Rays.

The Rays designated him for assignment on Friday. This will be the third team Arcia has played for in 2016. The 25-year-old hasn't hit much this year (.229 with six homers in 157 at-bats) but he'll give the Marlins some outfield depth while Giancarlo Stanton recovers from a strained groin.
