Shin-Soo Choo left Tuesday's game with left hamstring tightness.

It remains to be seen how severe the ailment is. He'll be re-evaluated Wednesday, but we would expect him to miss at least a game or two. Jason Donald replaced Choo.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Brewers and Tigers are "engaged in ongoing discussions" on a trade involving both Ian Kinsler and Justin Wilson.

ESPN's Buster Olney was first to report word of the Brewers' interest in Kinsler last week. The veteran second baseman is batting just .248/.331/.399 with nine home runs and 28 RBI in 81 games this season, but he's only owed around $4 million and the Brewers are exploring a range of options to upgrade their roster for the stretch run. Wilson, a 29-year-old left-handed reliever, owns a 2.75 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 55/16 K/BB ratio in 39 1/3 innings this season with Detroit.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Yankees are "making progress toward" a trade with the A's that would involve both Sonny Gray and Yonder Alonso.

Feinsand notes that Oakland has been "heavily scouting the Yankees' system of late." Gray is also believed to be drawing serious trade interest from the Nationals, Dodgers, Astros, and Braves. The 27-year-old right-hander holds a 3.66 ERA, 1.176 WHIP, and 85/28 K/BB ratio in 91 innings this season and he is under contractual control through 2019. Alonso, a 30-year-old first baseman batting .264/.363/.535 with 21 home runs in 89 games, is scheduled to become a free agent this winter.

Willson Contreras went 3-for-4 with a home run and four total RBI in the Cubs' 7-2 defeat of the White Sox on Tuesday.

Contreras belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. The 25-year-old catcher has been in a good offensive groove since the middle of May and now boasts a .273/.336/.498 batting line with 16 home runs and 56 RBI over 89 games this season.
Jul 25 - 6:21 PM

Rafael Devers will start at third base and bat ninth Tuesday in his MLB debut.

Devers got promoted to the majors on Monday afternoon but did not start against Mariners left-hander James Paxton. He'll get his turn Tuesday with Seattle throwing right-hander Felix Hernandez. The ultra-talented 20-year-old was slashing .311/.377/.578 with 20 home runs and 60 RBI in 86 games this season between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket.
Jul 25 - 6:15 PM

Xander Bogaerts (illness) is back in the Red Sox lineup Tuesday night against the Mariners.

Bogaerts was a late scratch Monday after coming down with an illness, but he will start at shortstop and hit sixth Tuesday versus Seattle right-hander Felix Hernandez.
Jul 25 - 6:11 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Brewers are in talks with the White Sox about reliever Anthony Swarzak.

Swarzak earned the first save of his career on Monday against the Cubs and boasts a 2.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 52/13 K/BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings this season. The 31-year-old right-hander is scheduled to become a free agent this winter, so he'd likely be a rental property for Milwaukee.
Jul 25 - 6:09 PM

A spokesperson with the Nationals said Tuesday that Stephen Strasburg had "some nerve impingement that has been alleviated."

Strasburg left Sunday's series finale against the Diamondbacks with discomfort in his right forearm, but he was able to do his usual between-starts throwing on Tuesday afternoon and manager Dusty Baker said the right-hander is in line to take his next scheduled turn in the rotation. That plan could obviously change, but it appears for now that the first-place Nationals have dodged a major bullet.
Jul 25 - 5:28 PM

Trea Turner (wrist) took grounders on Tuesday afternoon at Nationals Park.

That's a strong indication that Turner's checkup X-ray on Tuesday showed significant healing, though the star shortstop still hasn't been cleared to throw. He's been out for the last month with a fractured right wrist and there is no timetable yet for his return to Washington's active roster. The target for now is probably mid-August.
Jul 25 - 4:58 PM

Marlins placed 1B Justin Bour on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.

Bour suffered the injury in Monday night's series opener against the Rangers and will probably miss the next 3-4 weeks. The 29-year-old first baseman leaves behind a stellar .289/.366/.548 batting line with 21 home runs and 63 RBI in 87 games. Tomas Telis has been recalled from the minors in a corresponding roster move.
Jul 25 - 4:46 PM

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports is hearing that Mets shortstop prospect Amed Rosario "could be up in a week or so."

The promotion will probably come after the Mets unload some pieces around the July 31 trade deadline. Rosario, 21, is batting .329/.367/.473 with seven home runs, 55 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and 59 runs scored in 88 games this season at Triple-A Las Vegas. He was recently ranked the No. 4 overall prospect in the sport by Baseball America.
Jul 25 - 4:37 PM

Matt Carpenter (quad) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Rockies.

Carpenter missed Monday's series opener against Colorado after making an early exit Sunday night against the Cubs due to right quad tightness. He'll start at first base and bat leadoff Tuesday versus right-hander Jon Gray.
