Updating an earlier item, Desmond Jennings left Sunday's game in the third inning with left knee soreness.

It wasn't obvious when Jennings suffered the injury, so we're guessing it's not serious and the Rays are just playing it safe, but we'll update you on his status when more is known. Elliot Johnson moved to left field to replace Jennings, with Will Rhymes taking Johnson's spot at second base.

Justin Turner (thumb) is starting at third base and batting third Tuesday versus the Padres.

Turner missed several games with a bruised right thumb, but that was mostly a precautionary measure with the Dodgers coasting toward the postseason. The veteran third baseman boasts a .321/.414/.534 batting line with 21 home runs and 70 RBI in 125 games this year for the National League West champs.
Sep 26 - 6:16 PM

Yasiel Puig is back in the Dodgers' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Padres.

Puig was held out Sunday after ending Saturday's game on an ill-advised stolen base attempt and then he got benched Monday after showing up late for a mandatory pregame workout. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has expressed frustration with Puig's behavior, but it appears the two have come to an understanding with just nine days remaining until the start of the NLDS.
Sep 26 - 6:13 PM

Yadier Molina (concussion) said he's hoping to play again this season, possibly as early as Thursday.

Molina was pulled from Monday's series opener against the Cubs after taking consecutive foul tips off his mask and he vomited as he walked off the field, but he told reporters Tuesday that the nausea has already passed. It'd probably be wise for the Cardinals to simply shut him down, but they have not been mathematically eliminated from the postseason quite yet. Carson Kelly is starting behind the plate for St. Louis on Tuesday versus Chicago.
Sep 26 - 5:32 PM

Lucas Giolito won't make another start this season.

Giolito finished 2017 on an outstanding note, firing seven innings of one-run ball Sunday versus the Royals. The talented 23-year-old right-hander posted a promising 2.38 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 34/12 K/BB ratio over his first 45 1/3 innings (seven starts) with the White Sox and he'll be a high-upside fantasy option for 2018.
Sep 26 - 5:21 PM

Adam Jones (leg) remains out of the Orioles' starting lineup for Tuesday night's series opener against the Pirates.

Jones also missed Sunday's series finale against the Rays due to what is being called "general leg soreness." Austin Hays is starting in center field and batting leadoff Tuesday versus Pirates right-hander Trevor Williams. Anthony Santander is in right field and hitting eighth.
Sep 26 - 5:13 PM

Jose Altuve (forearm) is absent from the Astros' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Altuve was removed from Monday's series opener against the Rangers after getting plunked on the left forearm by a pitch. X-rays turned up negative and he's considered day-to-day. Marwin Gonzalez will start at second base and bat fifth Tuesday versus Texas left-hander Cole Hamels.
Sep 26 - 5:09 PM

Carlos Gonzalez (shoulder) is back in the Rockies' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

CarGo will start in right field and bat third after missing a couple of games with a sore left shoulder. He's slashing .323/.455/.694 so far in September.
Sep 26 - 4:46 PM

A CT scan taken Tuesday on Mookie Betts' left wrist showed no structural damage.

Betts has been diagnosed with inflammation and a bone bruise and he will be held out of the Red Sox starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Blue Jays, but Boston dodged a bullet here. The 24-year-old outfielder should be fully ready for the postseason, even if he doesn't play much over these final six days of the regular season.
Sep 26 - 4:40 PM

Jeimer Candelario (knee) is back in the Tigers' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Royals.

Candelario bruised his right knee over the weekend when he ran into the fence in front of the Tigers' dugout while trying to track down a foul ball, but he's clearly feeling better now. The 23-year-old third baseman will bat cleanup Tuesday versus Kansas City left-hander Jason Vargas.
Sep 26 - 4:24 PM

Miguel Cabrera (back) remains out of the Tigers' starting lineup on Tuesday versus the Royals.

Cabrera was diagnosed over the weekend with two herniated discs in his back and he might not see much playing time -- if any at all -- over the Tigers' final six regular-season games. Efren Navarro is starting at first base and batting seventh Tuesday night against Kansas City left-hander Jason Vargas. John Hicks will DH.
Sep 26 - 4:22 PM

Yoan Moncada (shin) is starting at second base and batting second Tuesday versus the Angels.

Moncada sat out Monday's series opener against Anaheim due to a nagging shin issue. An MRI showed no structural damage and he should be fine for Chicago's final six regular-season games.
