Wells has batted just .226/.291/.391 in 74 games this season in the majors. He holds zero fantasy value.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports writes that the Padres are "thinking big" and remain "strongly" in the mix for free agent first baseman Eric Hosmer.

The Padres aren't messing around, as Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that members of the front office met with Hosmer last Thursday. Based on the early reports, they are the most aggressive team thus far. However, it's likely going to take a $100-plus million contract in order to land him. If the Padres were to sign Hosmer, they'd move Wil Myers back to the outfield.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Phillies are considering free agent right-hander Jake Arrieta.

The Phillies likely aren't quite ready for contention, but they have money to spend and could use another top-tier starter alongside Aaron Nola. It might be a while before there's some resolution for Arrieta, as an MLB executive told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN that he's under the impression that agent Scott Boras is seeking a long-term contract in the range of $200 million. Arrieta, 31, posted a 3.53 ERA and 163/55 K/BB ratio over 168 1/3 innings this past season.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Mets, Rockies, Blue Jays and Mariners "are among the teams eyeing" Jay Bruce.

It's been reported previously that the Mets were interested in a reunion with Bruce, and the Blue Jays have seemingly been eyeing the outfielder for a few years now. Bruce is reportedly looking for a five-year, $80-90 million contract this offseason, although he's surely going to have to come down from those demands. The 30-year-old batted .254/.324/.508 with 36 homers and 101 RBI last season.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Orioles are discussing trading a reliever to the Mets for Matt Harvey.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports first mentioned earlier Monday that the O's were seen as one club that could make a play for Harvey. Rosenthal mentions that Harvey and Brad Brach are projected for similar salaries in their final arbitration years and that Darren O'Day is owed $18 million over the next two seasons. There's been a decent amount of smoke the last few days about the Mets listening to offers for Harvey.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Monday that reports of the team making Jackie Bradley available via trade are "not accurate."

"I don't know where those rumors have started but they're not accurate," Dombrowski said. It's a notable denial but doesn't necessarily mean anything, as the Red Sox can say they're not shopping Bradley but still be willing to trade him for the right return. The Royals and Giants are two teams that reportedly have interest in the outfielder. Bradley is under team control through 2020.
Dec 11 - 5:05 PM

MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports that a reunion of Pat Neshek and the Phillies "could be announced this week."

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that Neshek received a couple multi-year offers and is expected to take one from the Phillies in the $16-17 million range. The veteran reliever began last season in Philadelphia before being sent to Colorado in a trade. Neshek, 37, posted a 1.59 ERA and 69/9 K/BB ratio over 62 1/3 innings in 2017.
Dec 11 - 4:25 PM

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Pirates "are willing to listen" to trade offers for Gerrit Cole.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported earlier Monday that the Yankees are interested in Cole, and Olney notes that the two sides "match up well for potential deals" and general managers Brian Cashman and Neal Huntington "have an extensive trade history." Cole, who was drafted by the Yanks in the first round out of high school but didn't sign, is under team control for two more seasons.

Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that the Rockies are "taking a hard look" at free agent first baseman Carlos Santana.

Add the Rockies to a list which also includes the likes of the Indians, Rangers, Padres, Phillies, Red Sox, and Mariners. The Rockies have also been linked to Jay Bruce and Logan Morrison, but Harding hears that the club is "believed to have a stronger interest" in Santana than either of those players.
Dec 11 - 2:29 PM

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Astros are interested in adding another top starting pitcher.

Rosenthal hears that the Astros are considering free agents Yu Darvish and Jake Arrieta and might be in the mix for Rays right-hander Chris Archer if he's made available via trade. The report comes as a bit of a surprise after the club added Justin Verlander this year, but the club appears to be looking ahead with Dallas Keuchel (who just hired Scott Boras as his agent) on track to hit free agency next offseason.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register confirms that the Angels have had discussions with free agent third baseman Mike Moustakas.

The Angels have been speculated as a potential fit from the very beginning, so it's no surprise they have checked in. However, nothing appears to be imminent. Moustakas is looking to cash in this winter after slugging a career-high 38 homers with a .272/.314/.521 batting line in 2017.

Marlins acquired INFs Starlin Castro and Jose Devers, and RHP Jorge Guzman from the Yankees for OF Giancarlo Stanton and cash considerations.

Castro’s stay with the Marlins figures to be brief. The primary objective for the Marlins was to shed Stanton’s contract, so they didn’t receive the top prospects fans were hoping for here, but they should get some decent pieces back for Castro. The 27-year-old is owed $24 million over the next two seasons and batted .300/.338/.545 with 16 homers over 112 games in 2017.
