MLB suspended Steve Clevenger one-game for his involvement in Thursday's bench-clearing brawl with the Nationals.

He won't appeal the suspension. Clevenger was ejected Thursday after pushing Michael Morse and throwing a punch at Ian Desmond. Manny Corpas and bench coach Jamie Quirk have avoided league discipline.

Eugenio Suarez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Cardinals.

He's just getting the day off. Patrick Kivlehan will make the start at third base and bat seventh against right-hander Jack Flaherty.

Kris Bryant is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Rays.

He's just getting a breather. Javy Baez will make the start at third base while Ian Happ plays second base.

Hunter Renfroe hit a three-run homer in the Padres' 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Renfroe was just called up from Triple-A El Paso on Monday afternoon and he went yard in his first plate appearance back at Petco Park, giving the Friars an early 3-0 lead. The 25-year-old mashed the ball during his month-long stay in the minors and could carry sneaky fantasy value over these crucial final weeks as a legitimate power threat.
Sep 19 - 1:19 AM

David Peralta left Monday night's game against the Padres after experiencing tightness in his right quad.

Peralta was 1-for-2 with an RBI single and a walk before getting lifted in the sixth inning. He'll be reevaluated on Tuesday. This is obviously a bad time of the year for any type of injury, minor or major.
Sep 19 - 12:50 AM

Dustin Pedroia (nose) could undergo a CAT scan Tuesday.

Pedroia on Monday was hit by a foul ball that bounced off the ground and struck him in the nose. The preliminary diagnosis was a nasal contusion, but if he's still really sore Tuesday he could be sent for more tests.

Matt Olson hit yet another homer in the Athletics' 8-3 win over the Tigers on Monday.

It was a two-run shot in the top of the third inning off Tigers starter Buck Farmer. Olson now has a whopping 18 home runs and 33 RBI over his last 31 games and he boasts a terrific 1.023 OPS for the season. The rookie first baseman also drew two walks Monday night in Detroit, finishing 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Sep 18 - 11:08 PM

Aaron Judge hit his 44th homer Monday as the Yankees edged the Twins 2-1.

Judge belted a solo shot off Ervin Santana in the first inning and then went 0-for-3 over the rest of the night. The homer was his 44th, and with the way he's going right now, he has a shot at 50. That would overtake Mark McGwire's all-time rookie record of 49.
Sep 18 - 10:58 PM

Giancarlo Stanton finished 2-for-5 with a homer, four RBI, and three runs scored in the Marlins' 13-1 rout of the Mets on Monday.

Stanton drew a walk and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third inning, hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, and added an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. He's now up to 55 home runs and 117 RBI on the season with 12 games to play. Three of those games are at Coors Field.
Sep 18 - 10:45 PM

Aaron Altherr hit the first grand slam ever surrendered by Clayton Kershaw to give the Phillies all of their runs in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday.

The no-doubt bomb was the first homer hit by Altherr since he came off the disabled list earlier this month. Including his final six games before getting hurt, he had been without a homer -- and with just seven hits total -- in 44 at-bats since July 29.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts admitted Monday that Corey Seager's right elbow is "not 100 percent," but the shortstop is trying to "manage it."

Roberts added that he's been told by the team's medical staff that Seager's injury "is playable." The skipper still wouldn't reveal exactly what the nature of Seager's injury is, although there's been speculation that he's dealing with a bone spur or bone chips. He'll probably have surgery in the offseason but will have to play through some pain down the stretch. It seems like something that only affects Seager when he throws, so his hitting shouldn't be an issue. Seager is not starting Monday in what Roberts says will be the shortstop's final day off of the season.
Sep 18 - 5:32 PM

Miguel Cabrera (back) is back in the Tigers' lineup Monday.

Cabrera sat out Sunday after exiting Saturday's game with lower back tightness. It's something that's plagued him for basically all season and he might need extra days off down the stretch, but there are no plans to shut him down. He's in the designated hitter spot Monday, with Efren Navarro covering first base.
