Phillies acquired 2B Stefan Jarrin from the Dodgers.

He's the player to be named later in the Shane Victorino deal. A 40th-round pick in 2011, Jarrin has batted just .211/.309/.336 in 49 games of Rookie ball as a pro.

Jose Iglesias (groin) is back in the Tigers' starting lineup on Wednesday night versus the White Sox.

Iglesias was unavailable Tuesday after leaving Sunday's game with tightness in his left groin. The dynamic young shortstop is batting ninth in his return to action Wednesday against White Sox ace Chris Sale.
May 6 - 5:46 PM

J.J. Hardy (shoulder) could join the Orioles on Thursday.

Hardy has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He began a minor league rehab assignment Monday at Double-A Bowie and is 3-for-8 through two games. The 32-year-old shortstop had a disappointing offensive season in 2014, but he's still a pretty valuable fantasy commodity. Hardy tallied 25 homers and 76 RBI in 2013.
May 6 - 5:38 PM

Carlos Rodon will start Saturday against the Reds.

Jeff Samardzija has dropped the appeal of his five-game suspension, opening a spot temporarily for the 22-year-old Rondon. He has registered a 2.84 ERA in 6 1/3 innings of relief so far for Chicago, but his control hasn't been very good. It might be best to keep Rondon stashed in fantasy leagues until he has a permanent place in the White Sox rotation. Cincinnati isn't the easiest opponent for a stream.
May 6 - 5:26 PM

Brett Gardner is out Wednesday with a stiff neck.

It doesn't sound like it will be a lingering thing. Gardner doubled and scored a run on Tuesday night and is batting .309/.404/.444 with 18 runs scored in 23 games this season. Chris Young is in left field and batting second Wednesday night against the Blue Jays.
May 6 - 5:22 PM

Jordan Walden will be sidelined for the next 6-10 weeks with a right shoulder strain.

The good news is that he doesn't need surgery. Walden was used heavily during the first month of the season and began reporting stiffness in his right shoulder in early May. The hard-throwing setup man will be missed. He had registered a 0.87 ERA and 12 strikeouts over his first 10 1/3 innings (12 appearances) with the Cardinals.
May 6 - 5:15 PM

Carlos Perez is getting his second consecutive start at catcher Wednesday against the Mariners.

Perez made his major league debut on Tuesday night and went 2-for-4 with a walkoff solo home run to lift Anaheim over Seattle. He was tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A and could continue to draw regular playing time with the Halos if his bat stays hot at the major league level. Chris Iannetta is hitting just .094/.192/.109 in 73 plate appearances this season.
May 6 - 5:04 PM

Tyler Flowers (illness) is back in the White Sox starting lineup Wednesday night against the Tigers.

Flowers missed two games with the flu. He is batting eighth in his return Wednesday versus Alfredo Simon.
May 6 - 4:45 PM

Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is expected to begin taking dry swings on Thursday.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported Wednesday morning that Hanley Ramirez "is said to be feeling better" and could return to the Red Sox starting lineup in "a couple days," but there's no real timetable yet. Hanley suffered a left shoulder injury Monday when he slammed into the left-field wall at Fenway Park. He should avoid the disabled list, but the slugger might not return to games until early next week. Allen Craig is in left field on Wednesday night.
May 6 - 4:31 PM

Jeff Samardzija has dropped the appeal of his five-game suspension and will begin serving it Wednesday.

Samardzija was handed the five-game sentence for his role in Chicago's April 23 brawl with Kansas City. He should return to the White Sox rotation May 11 in Milwaukee.
May 6 - 4:18 PM

George Springer (head) is not in the Astros' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Rangers.

Springer banged his head and shoulder against the right-field wall Tuesday while making a spectacular catch. He looked pretty shaken up after the play and is still being evaluated for a concussion. Robbie Grossman is in right and batting ninth on Wednesday.
May 6 - 4:10 PM

Leonys Martin (wrist) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup again on Wednesday night.

Martin hasn't played since injuring his left wrist while trying to make a catch on Monday night. He was wearing a brace Tuesday but X-rays turned up negative and he is expected to avoid the disabled list. Delino DeShields Jr. is starting in center field Wednesday.
