Robinson Cano had a monster night Wednesday as the Yankees shellacked the Red Sox 14-2 to clinch the American League East, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI.

Curtis Granderson also went deep twice for the Yankees, giving him a career-best 43 home runs. The win clinched the American League East for the Bombers, who will get either the Orioles or Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. Cano's blasts were both no doubters, as he got Daisuke Matsuzaka for a two-run shot in the third, and Clayton Mortensen for a two-run blast in the fifth. He added two more RBI with a sixth-inning single. Cano's torrid finish (.347, six home runs and 24 RBI in 30 games since September 1) leaves him with a season-ending .313/.379/.550 slash. Avisail Garcia is considered day-to-day after leaving Monday's game with more inflammation in his right knee.

Garcia had just returned to action on Sunday after missing two games with the ailment. He singled in his first at-bat Monday but then had to be taken out when the knee acted up on him again. It sets up as a sticky situation for fantasy owners, as Garcia's ailment doesn't appear bad enough to require a disabled list stint but he also might be in and out of the lineup.

Jhonny Peralta singled an ripped a walk-off, solo home run in Monday's victory over the Diamondbacks.

The Cardinals' bullpen coughed up a lead in the eighth inning and they had to pitch out of bases-loaded jam in the top of the 10th. However, Peralta made the wait worth it with a leadoff shot against J.C. Ramirez that just snuck over the left-field wall. The shortstop is putting together an All-Star caliber campaign with a .304/.367/.500 batting line and seven home runs.

Jesse Hahn was on his game Monday, going the distance for his first career shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers.

Hahn's defense didn't make things easy on him, as he had to navigate around three errors behind him. Three double-play balls helped, as did just one walk and five strikeouts. All four of the Tigers' hits were just singles. After a 5/3 K/BB ratio over his first three starts of the season, Hahn has a 31/9 K/BB ratio since in six outings. He'll bring an improving 3.69 ERA into a home matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) is on pace to be activated from the disabled list on June 1.

May 25 - 6:10 PM

Travis d'Arnaud (finger) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as June 1.

That's a best-case scenario, while Mets general manager Sandy Alderson thinks the June 4-7 series versus the Diamondbacks might be a more realistic target. D'Arnaud will play five innings in an extended spring training game on Tuesday before then beginning a rehab assignment at High-A St. Lucie. He's been sidelined since April 20 with a fracture of his right little finger.

Brewers placed RHP Wily Peralta on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 23, with a strained left oblique.

Manager Craig Counsell expressed confidence on Saturday that Peralta would be able to make his next start, but now the club is saying the right-hander will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. It's not clear at this point who will assume Peralta's spot in the rotation. David Goforth will be promoted prior to Tuesday's game to take his roster spot.

Colon walked two and gave up six hits, but only one of those hits -- a Freddy Galvis double -- went for extra bases. Colon fanned six Philadelphia hitters and is now 7-3 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 52/5 K/BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings this season. The big man remains a strong matchup-to-matchup fantasy starter, and he has a pretty good one at home against the Rockies on Sunday.
