Drew Smyly will be on the Tigers' roster for the ALDS against the Athletics.

Smyly and Rick Porcello will pitch out of the bullpen, with manager Jim Leyland going with a four-man rotation. Brayan Villarreal and Brennan Boesch are not on the roster. The Tigers have 14 position players and 11 pitchers active for the ALDS. Don Kelly and Danny Worth are part of a five-man bench.

Buster Posey is out Monday versus the Braves.

It's a routine day of maintenance for Posey. Trevor Brown is getting the start at catcher and batting eighth in the Memorial Day game at Turner Field in Atlanta.

David Ortiz (foot) is back in the Red Sox starting lineup Monday versus the Orioles.

Ortiz was scratched Sunday after getting hit in the foot by a pitch on Saturday, but X-rays turned up negative and he was feeling much better when he arrived at Camden Yards in Baltimore on Monday morning. The veteran slugger is starting at DH and batting cleanup versus Orioles right-hander Tyler Wilson.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Monday that David Wright (neck) may need a disabled list stint.

Wright is out of the Mets' starting lineup again on Monday due to renewed neck discomfort, and he's apparently not making much progress. Ty Kelly is starting at third base and Wilmer Flores is starting at first base Monday afternoon against the White Sox. Wright was limited to 38 games in 2015 after being diagnosed with spinal stenosis. He's appeared in 37 games this year.

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-4 and drove home three runs on Sunday night as the Dodgers defeated the Mets 4-2 in New York.

Gonzalez delivered an RBI single off Bartolo Colon in the fifth inning that extended the Dodgers' lead to 2-0. After the Mets had rallied to tie the game in the eighth, he smacked two-run single off of Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the top half of the ninth to propel his club to victory. With his two-hit night, Gonzalez is now hitting .299/.376/.424 with five homers and 26 RBI on the season.

Carlos Correa hit a pinch-hit three-run shot in the top of the 13th inning as the Astros beat the Angels 8-6 on Sunday afternoon in Anaheim.

Correa had been stuck in an offensive rut and was supposed to get a mental day of rest in the series finale at Angel Stadium, but Astros manager A.J. Hinch called for him to bat for Tony Kemp with two outs in the 13th after Tyler White and Marwin Gonzalez singled against Anaheim reliever Mike Morin. Correa did his thing, jacking a three-run, go-ahead shot to left-center. The star 21-year-old shortstop has 30 homers and 93 RBI through his first 149 major league games. (He also has 22 career steals).

Rich Hill was diagnosed with a mild groin strain after leaving Sunday's start against the Tigers.

Hill was forced to make an early exit from another strong outing on Sunday. A's manager Bob Melvin was unsure if the veteran left-hander would be able to make his next start, but for now it doesn't sound as though a trip to the disabled list is coming. Hill will be reevaluated by the club's medical team on Monday.

Archie Bradley pitched into the eighth inning Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 6-3 defeat of the Padres.

Bradley gave up a run in the top of the second on a Christian Bethancourt RBI single, a run in the top of the top of the fifth on an Alexei Ramirez homer, and one more in the top of the eighth on a Wil Myers groundout. But he yielded only four total hits and one walk over 7 1/3 official frames while striking out nine. The former top prospect has been terrific this season at Triple-A Reno and might finally be ready to translate his strong minor league numbers to the major league level. There is legit fantasy upside here.
May 29 - 6:59 PM

Mitch Moreland slugged a three-run homer Sunday in the Rangers' 6-2 victory against the Pirates.

Moreland went deep off Francisco Liriano in the bottom of the fourth inning, not long after Prince Fielder cranked a solo shot. Consistency remains an issue for Moreland -- he's still batting .222/.293/.392 overall -- but the 30-year-old first baseman does have six home runs and 21 RBI in 45 games this season.
May 29 - 6:01 PM

David Wright (neck) is not in the Mets starting lineup on Sunday.

Manager Terry Collins made it sound as though Wright wouldn't be available on Monday as well. Wilmer Flores is starting in his place on Sunday and will continue to fill in while Wright is sidelined. Collins also made it clear that this neck issue is not related to the back injury that Wright has been battling, but could be connected to his sore shoulder.
May 29 - 5:26 PM

John Lackey hurled seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Cubs' 7-2 win over the Phillies.

Lackey walked four but yielded only four hits and struck out six. The one run against him came on a Tyler Goeddel homer in the top of the seventh. Lackey now stands 5-2 with a 3.16 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 67/17 K/BB ratio through his first 68 1/3 innings with Chicago. He's looking like an offseason steal at two years, $32 million.
May 29 - 5:24 PM

Jayson Werth launched a pinch-hit grand slam in Sunday's 10-2 win over the Cardinals.

The final score is somewhat misleading, as this was a tight, 3-2 contest through the seventh-inning stretch. And then, suddenly, it wasn't. An Anthony Rendon solo homer coupled with Werth's pinch-hit grand slam off Dean Kiekhefer in the bottom of the frame would essentially end the game. After injuries limited him to just 88 games last season, the veteran Werth has appeared in 46 of 51 games in 2016. He is slashing a middling .224/.282/.400 with seven homers and 24 RBI across 165 at-bats.
