The Reds have removed Johnny Cueto (oblique) from the NLDS roster.

Cueto is currently dealing with a mild oblique strain. He will be ineligible to pitch if the Reds make it to the NLCS, but it's possible he wouldn't have been physically able to pitch anyway. There's a chance he could be ready if the Reds make it to the World Series. Mike Leake will replace him on the roster and will start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Giants on Wednesday.

Dustin Pedroia (knee, ankle) said he expects to return to the Red Sox starting lineup Wednesday.

Pedroia hasn't played since injuring his knee and ankle on a controversial slide by Manny Machado on Friday, but the veteran second baseman had a clean exam Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital and told reporters Tuesday that he's feeling looser. Tuesday's series opener against the Yankees was rained out.
Apr 25 - 3:59 PM

Kyle Seager told reporters Tuesday that his hip feels fine.

Seager was scratched from Sunday's series finale against the A's with a sore hip and he won't start Tuesday night's series opener at Detroit, but it sounds like the third baseman will be available off the bench. Taylor Motter is filling in at the hot corner for Seattle on Tuesday with Jean Segura (hamstring) returning to shortstop.
Apr 25 - 3:49 PM

Steven Souza (elbow) is in Tuesday's lineup against the Orioles.

Souza banged his right elbow while trying to catch a home run ball during Monday's game, but fortunately X-rays came back negative and he won't have to miss any time. He's due to hit leadoff with left-hander Wade Miley on the hill for Baltimore. Souza is off to a red-hot start at the plate, batting .333/.416/.590 with four homers and 17 RBI through 21 games.
Apr 25 - 3:18 PM

Travis d'Arnaud (wrist) is back in the Mets' starting lineup Tuesday versus the Braves.

Another one of the banged-up Mets, d'Arnaud was limited to pinch-hitting duties over the weekend due to a right wrist contusion. However, he managed to avoid the disabled list and will bat eighth in his return, weather-perimitting.
Apr 25 - 3:13 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) has returned to the Mets' lineup Tuesday against the Braves.

Cespedes was forced to miss the entire weekend series against the Nationals while nursing left hamstring soreness, but he's back in there as promised Tuesday. Of course, there's rain in the forecast and the game might not be played.
Apr 25 - 3:11 PM

George Springer (hamstring) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

The hope was that Springer would only have to miss one game due to his left hamstring tightness, but he apparently needs at least another day. Josh Reddick is starting in center field Tuesday, with Nori Aoki in right and Carlos Beltran in left.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins are "moving forward" with an investment group including Jeb Bush and Derek Jeter to purchase the team.

This confirms a report from Scott Soshnick of Bloomberg. Jackson hears that there's an "agreement in principle" for the Jeb/Jeter group to purchase the team from Jeffrey Loria, with the price tag at $1.3 billion. Bush is expected to be the control person, according to Jackson, but more than five investors are involved and Jeter is expected to have an active role. Of course, any sale will need to be approved by MLB's other owners. Loria originally purchased the Marlins for $158.5 million in 2002.
Apr 25 - 2:59 PM

Tuesday's game between the Yankees and Red Sox has been postponed due to rain.

The forecast is a rough one in Boston, so they got this decision out of the way early. It's worth noting that more rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday's game will be rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader on Sunday July 16. Rick Porcello and Luis Severino will presumably be pushed back a day in their respective rotations.
Apr 25 - 2:55 PM

Mariners activated SS Jean Segura from the 10-day disabled list.

Segura went 1-for-11 with a walk over three rehab games with Double-A Arkansas, but the most important thing is that he didn't have any issues with his hamstring. Taylor Motter did a great job filling in at shortstop and should bounce around multiple spots now that Segura has returned.
Apr 25 - 2:20 PM

Red Sox placed 3B Pablo Sandoval on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with a right knee sprain.

Sandoval suffered the injury while making a play at third base on Sunday. Results of an MRI on Monday aren't yet known, but the Red Sox should provide a timetable soon. Josh Rutledge has been activated from the disabled list to take his place on the active roster.
Apr 25 - 12:09 PM

Brian Dozier went 2-for-5 with three RBI in the Twins' 3-2 defeat of the Rangers on Monday.

Dozier gave Minnesota the lead for good with his bases-clearing three-run double off Rangers left-hander Martin Perez in the top of the fifth inning. The star second baseman has tallied just six total RBI in 18 games this season to go along with an underwhelming .257/.321/.392 batting line, but he's capable of getting it going in a hurry. Dozier does have five stolen bases in six tries.
