The A's not only scored three of their four runs in the final frame but also doubled their hit total. Justin Verlander and Jarrod Parker will square off in Game 5 Thursday.

Aaron Hill continued his power surge against the Reds on Friday, blasting a pair of home runs in a 9-5 victory.

Hill tagged starter John Lamb for a solo homer that tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning, then replicated the feat in the fifth. Hill also singled in the contest, finishing the night 3-for-4 to raise his season slash up to .271/.340/.443 to go along with six homers and 19 RBI.

Hosmer drove in a run with a ground out in the first inning and slugged a solo homer in the sixth before adding a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh. The 26-year-old has picked up the power production of late and is now batting .307/.359/.520 with nine homers and 27 RBI through 47 games. He has never hit more than 19 home runs in a season before, but he’s in good position to top that this year if he can stay healthy.

Mark Trumbo blasted his 15th home run of the season on Friday as the Orioles defeated the Indians 6-4 in the first game of their weekend series in Cleveland.

Trumbo's two-run shot in the seventh inning provided valuable insurance runs for the O's and would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. Trumbo also singled, finishing the night 2-for-4. He has been an absolute force in the middle of the Orioles lineup this season, slashing .284/.335/.568 with 15 homers and 34 RBI.

Ozuna has now reached base safely in 34 consecutive games. The 25-year-old has hit safely in nine straight games, including six straight multi-hit games. He’s batting .343/.387/.591 overall. It appears that the breakout is upon us.

Curtis Granderson launched a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning in Friday’s 6-5 victory over the Dodgers.

Citi Field was down in the dumps after Jeurys Familia blew the lead in the top of the ninth, but Granderson took Pedro Baez deep to lead off the bottom of the frame to send the fans home happy. It was just the second walk-off homer of Granderson’s career and his first since way back on September 26, 2005. The 35-year-old is batting just .200 with a .300 on-base percentage this season, but he has at least managed nine home runs.

Julio Urias struggled in his major league debut Friday night against the Mets, allowing three runs in five hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings.

This just in: Pitching in the majors is hard. All three runs scored in the first inning. Urias was pulled in the third inning after loading the bases. The stuff looked good - the 19-year-old worked in the mid-90s with his fastball and broke off a few good breaking balls — but the command and control weren't there for him on this night. He threw just 42 out of 81 pitches for strikes. On the bright side, things can only get better from here. This is just the beginning.
May 27 - 10:52 PM

Masahiro Tanaka was brilliant Friday against the Rays, allowing just two hits over seven scoreless innings as part of a 4-1 win.

Tanaka gave up just two hits, both of them singles. He didn’t allow his first one until the fifth inning. He was very efficient, throwing 53 out of 82 pitches for strikes while walking none and striking out four. Tanaka had a pair of shaky outings earlier this month, but he has bounced back by allowing just one run in 14 innings over his last two starts. He’ll bring a 2.89 ERA into a start against the Blue Jays on the road next week.

Josh Donaldson blasted a pair of homers and drove in five runs on Friday, powering the Blue Jays to a 7-5 victory over the visiting Red Sox.

Donaldson got the scoring started in the first inning, swatting a solo homer off of Red Sox starter Joe Kelly. He gave them the lead again with an RBI double in the third inning and again in the fourth with an RBI single. After the Red Sox had tied the score at 5-5 in the top half of the eighth, Donaldson answered with an opposite-field two-run shot off of Koji Uehara to put the game away. He finished the night 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and five RBI and is now hitting .257/.353/.540 with 13 homers and 29 RBI on the season.

Erick Aybar was removed from Friday's game against the Marlins in the fifth inning after he was hit in the ankle by a pitch from Adam Conley.

Aybar remained in the game to run the bases for himself, but was replaced by Daniel Castro defensively to begin the next inning. It would appear as though his exit was precautionary, but expect an update from the Braves on his status shortly.

Mariners placed OF Leonys Martin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
