According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, there have been no extension talks between the M's and Felix Hernandez.

Hernandez is under contract through 2014 on some pretty hefty salaries, so the Mariners have no real reason to rush into something new. But they're sure to broach the topic of a long-term deal with "King Felix" and his agent at some point next year. The righty had a 3.06 ERA and fanned 223 batters in 232 innings this season.

Andrelton Simmons has been diagnosed with a sprained right thumb.

Simmons was injured on Saturday when he jammed the thumb on a play in left field. It looks like he'll avoid the disabled list for now, as the Braves are hopeful he'll only miss a few games. Daniel Castro is filling in at shortstop Sunday.

J.D. Martinez (knee) is back in the Tigers' lineup Sunday.

Martinez had to leave Saturday's game after fouling a ball off his left knee. X-rays came back clean, though, and he's feeling well enough to give it a go.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus confirmed Saturday that he'll "probably" use Alex Wilson as his closer.

Wilson notched his first career save on Thursday when he recorded the final five outs of the game and it appears that he's Ausmus' top option for the ninth inning following the trade of Joakim Soria. "I'll probably use Wilson at the back end, maybe (Blaine) Hardy at the back end if there are lefties," Ausmus said. "(Neftali) Feliz and (Bruce) Rondon hopefully can stretch through the seventh and eighth somehow." Wilson boasts a 1.79 ERA on the season, although he's struck out just 33 over 55 1/3 innings. He doesn't have typical closer stuff but obviously needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.

Pablo Sandoval (forearm) remained out of the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

He hasn't played since being hit on the left forearm by a pitch on Thursday. Sandoval remains day-to-day and should have a shot to return Tuesday after Monday's off day. Travis Shaw is at third base Sunday.

Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a walk-off RBI single in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mariners.

The Twins faced a 2-1 deficit entering the ninth inning, but rallied with some nice situational hitting and a woeful bullpen performance from the M's. Miguel Sano led off the inning by doubling off Carson Smith, who recorded the next two outs, but also uncorked a wild pitch that allowed pinch-runner Shane Robinson to reach third. Following an intentional walk to Eddie Rosario, Smith delivered yet another wild pitch, which scored Robinson. Rosario would subsequently steal third before Suzuki ended the game with an RBI single. The heroics are fun, but they do little to mask the fact that the veteran catcher is hitting just .234/.290/.305 this season.

Kyle Gibson posted a stellar start against the Mariners in Saturday's no-decision, allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings.

Gibson struck out four and walked one on the evening. A run came home in the first inning on an RBI ground out by Robinson Cano, but Gibson wouldn't allow another one until the sixth inning, when Nelson Cruz took him deep for a solo shot. The Twins would rally from the 2-1 deficit to win 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth. Gibson had allowed 12 runs in his last 10 1/3 innings (covering two starts) and this was a nice rebound. The owner of a 3.37 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 92/40 K/BB ratio in 131 innings, he will take to the road to face the Blue Jays' offensive machine in his next start.

Hank Conger hit a solo home run and a grand slam in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

The Astros were teeing off on Jeremy Hellickson and the Diamondbacks, with both Conger and Carlos Correa posting two-homer games. It was Conger who came away with the more impressive performance, though. He smoked a solo homer off of Hellickson in the third inning, then crushed a grand slam an inning later to help drive Arizona's starter from the game. Neat game for Conger, who hit ninth in the contest. He's done a nice job in limited action this season and is hitting .254/.352/.508 with eight homers and 20 RBI over 122 at-bats.

Andrelton Simmons left Saturday's game against the Phillies after jamming his right thumb on a play in left field.

Daniel Castro replaced him in the eighth inning. His X-rays came back negative but the soreness could keep Simmons out for a few days. He was hitless in three at-bats before exiting.
Aug 1 - 11:11 PM

Dallas Keuchel improved to 13-5 after defeating the Diamondbacks on Saturday, tossing six innings of two-run ball in the 9-2 victory.

Keuchel struck out eight, but also walked three. The free passes led to two runs in the second inning, including one that scored when the All-Star offered ball four to Ender Inciarte with the bases loaded. The 27-year-old southpaw calmed down after all that silliness, though, shutting out the Diamondbacks the rest of the way. Keuchel's consistently great play has put him in the AL Cy Young conversation, as he holds a 2.35 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 140/37 K/BB ratio over 157 innings. He'll head to Oakland for a road outing against the A's in his next scheduled start.
Aug 1 - 11:05 PM

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.

Rizzo launched his three-run homer off of Brewers starter Matt Garza in the third inning. It was his 20th of the year and pushed his RBI total to an even 60. After a prolonged power-drought that saw just one home run in 31 games, Rizzo's now homered in four straight games. He's hitting .290/.400/.531 over 373 at-bats this season.
Aug 1 - 10:43 PM

Kyle Hendricks pitched well in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Brewers, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings.

With the win, Hendricks improved to 5-5 on the year. He struck out six and walked two, with only a Khris Davis RBI single in the fourth inning mucking up the potential shutout. Hendricks has been a dependable starter this season and holds a 3.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 103/25 K/BB ratio across 122 2/3 innings. He's set to take on the Giants at Wrigley in his next scheduled start.
