Jordan Norberto (shoulder) is not expected to be available for the rest of the postseason.

Norberto has been out since August 17 due to left shoulder tendinitis, and while he's resumed throwing, he isn't ready to try from a mound. "It's tough to consider him an option no matter how far we go," manager Bob Melvin said.

In his return from Tommy John surgery, Patrick Corbin pitched five innings of two-run ball and recorded a win over the Rockies on Saturday.

Corbin allowed eight hits, three for extra bases, but he was able to spread them around enough to leave with a lead. It helped a lot that he walked no one. His fastball was consistently in the low-90s, and 56 of his 76 pitches were strikes. Corbin isn't a recommended mixed-league pitcher just yet, but he definitely has the ability. He's well worth the flier in deeper leagues.

Joe Mauer went 4-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Royals.

Did somebody ask for fireworks in Kansas City? Mauer wasted little time putting the Twins on the board this Fourth of July, taking Joe Blanton deep to right after a Brian Dozier single in the first inning and staking his team to a 2-0 lead. Mauer would also double and single in the contest to finish 4-for-5. Despite a relatively light (by his standards) slash-line of .272/.341/.388, Mauer's been a productive run-producer and has now driven in 43 runs. His career best for RBI in a season was 96 in 2009 and while he's unlikely match that this year, an RBI total in the mid-to-high 80's is within reach at the rate he's currently going.
Jul 4 - 11:08 PM

Zach Greinke continued his run of dominance in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mets, throwing seven innings of shutout ball while allowing just four hits.

With the win, Greinke improved to 7-2 on the year. He struck out four without walking a batter and now carries a 1.48 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 97/20 K/BB ratio across 115 1/3 innings. There's not much we can say that the numbers don't say themselves. Up next for Greinke's slicing and dicing pleasure, the Philadelphia Phillies.
Jul 4 - 10:44 PM

Carlos Gomez left Saturday's game against the Reds with a left wrist contusion.

He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting in the sixth inning. His X-rays came back negative and the Brewers are listing him as day-to-day. Gerardo Parra is likely to play center field if Gomez gets the day off on Sunday.
Jul 4 - 10:16 PM

Kris Bryant had a monster game in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Marlins, homering twice and driving in six runs.

Bryant eradicated Marlins starter Jarred Cosart from this earth, hitting a two-run homer in the first inning and following it up with a grand slam in the second to drive Cosart from the mound. This was Bryant's second multi-homer game of the season and he's now socked 12 dingers and driven in 49 runs over 70 games since being called up in late April. The rookie sports a .278/.381/.486 triple-slash and figures to be a front-runner for the NL Rookie of the Year award come the end of the season.
Jul 4 - 10:02 PM

Carlos Gonzalez is not in the Rockies' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Patrick Corbin is pitching for Arizona and Gonzalez is batting just .161 against left-handers this year. Drew Stubbs will start in left field and bat sixth. Since blowing up for five hits against San Francisco on June 27, Gonzalez has gone just 3-for-28 with six strikeouts.
Jul 4 - 7:09 PM

Rangers optioned RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez to Triple-A Round Rock.

The Rangers don't need him now that Matt Harrison is off the disabled list. Though it didn't last as long as he hoped, Gonzalez's first stint in the big leagues was a success. In seven starts, the right-hander posted a 3.74 ERA while limiting opponents to a .220 batting average. He even threw a shutout June 5 at Kansas City. He'll be back with Texas at some point this year.
Jul 4 - 5:51 PM

Josh Hamilton is not in the Rangers' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

He'll sit out against southpaw Hector Santiago. Ryan Rua will get the start in left field and bat second. Hamilton went 1-for-3 Friday in his first game against the Angels since getting traded earlier this year.
Jul 4 - 5:17 PM

Jeff Samardzija pitched brilliantly in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

The Shark racked up nine strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. The only damage against him came on an inherited runner that rode home on Manny Machado's home run after Samardzija had departed. A popular name in trade rumblings, he'll carry a 4.33 ERA and 97/22 K/BB ratio into Thursday's start against the Blue Jays.
Jul 4 - 5:09 PM

Clay Buchholz allowed one run in a complete-game victory over the Astros on Saturday.

It was his ninth career complete game and his first since last August 31. Buchholz went into the top of the ninth with a chance at seventh career shutout, but Luis Valbuena hit a two-out RBI single. He fanned eight and walked none in the victory. Buchholz has been on quite the roll of late, allowing just three earned runs combined over his last four starts. His ERA is down to 3.27 for the year.
Jul 4 - 4:51 PM

David Price racked up seven strikeouts over seven strong innings in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays.

The All-Star southpaw allowed just one run on eight hits and a walk over his seven frames. The only blemish against him on the afternoon was a solo homer off the bat of Kevin Pillar in the fifth inning. The clear ace of the Tigers staff, and pending free agent, has been terrific again this season, registering a 2.54 ERA and 107/22 K/BB ratio through 117 innings. He'll look to continue that dominance when he takes on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.
