J.J. Hardy drove home Manny Machado with an RBI double in the 13th inning Thursday to allow the Orioles to force a Game 5 in the ALDS against the Yankees.

He fouled off some tough pitches from David Phelps before the right-hander left a pitch over the plate, and Hardy one-hopped the left-field wall. Offense was hard to come by in the game, as the two clubs combined for just 15 hits over the 13 frames. Nate McLouth also had another nice game for the O's, belting a solo homer while picking up two hits for the second straight night. Baltimore will face CC Sabathia Friday.

Steven Matz will not make his next scheduled Grapefruit League start due to irritation in his left elbow.

The Mets are adamant that Matz doesn't have anything structurally wrong, but general manager Sandy Alderson admitted that "it's worrisome that he continues to be injured." The left-hander won't undergo an MRI, but he'll be backed off for a few days before being re-evaluated. Even if Matz progresses well over the next week, a disabled list stint would seem to be a distinct possibility. It would free up a spot in the Mets' rotation for Seth Lugo.

Tigers released RHP Mark Lowe.

Lowe signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Tigers last winter but won't make it to the end of the deal (although the Tigers will still pay him). The veteran reliever struck out a batter per inning for Detroit last season but also posted an ugly 7.11 ERA over 54 appearances. He's put up a 5.19 ERA over nine appearances this spring. Lowe should be able to catch on elsewhere pretty quickly now that he can be had at the veteran minimum.

Andrew Toles rapped a grand slam off Jesse Hahn in Saturday's Cactus League win over the A's.

Toles came through for the granny against Hahn with the bases loaded and one out in the fourth inning. That well-timed home run was his first of the spring. He is set to start in left field for the Dodgers during the coming campaign. In a utility role last season, Toles slashed .314/.365/.505 with three homers and 19 RBI across 105 at-bats.

Jason Kipnis (shoulder) took swings in the batting cage on Saturday.

He also did some light throwing. Despite the progress he's made, Kipnis is fully expected to begin the year on the disabled list and could miss an additional 3-4 weeks after that. With Kipnis on the shelf, Jose Ramirez will handle second base for the Tribe.

Anibal Sanchez tossed six hitless, scoreless frames while striking out six batters but the Tigers still lost to the Pirates on Saturday.

He walked one batter and saw an error made behind him but was otherwise perfect. Sanchez was shelled in each of his first three games of the spring before making some mechanical adjustments. In three games since then he has been unscored upon. On March 9th his ERA was 17.47 and now it is down to 5.03 in 19 2/3 innings. He is battling Matt Boyd for the last rotation slot on the Tigers' staff. Sanchez turned in a rough 5.87 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 153 1/3 innings a year ago.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Rangers have "tabled" extension talks with Jonathan Lucroy.

Wilson also had nothing to report on talks with Yu Darvish. Without extensions, both players will hit the market next winter. The two-time All-Star hit .267 while splitting time with Buster Posey behind the plate for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic. He'll earn $5.25 million in the last year of his deal.

Kennys Vargas will undergo more testing on his bruised left foot.

Vargas fouled a ball off his left foot in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. He's been getting around on crutches and still can't put any weight on his foot. "I can’t imagine him being ready here too quickly," said manager Paul Molitor. Vargas' availability for Opening Day looks to be in doubt.

ESPN Red Sox reporter Scott Lauber confirms David Price (elbow) will likely be out until May.

It's the clearest timeline we've gotten on Price, who remains out indefinitely after hurting his elbow early on in camp. Price finally resumed throwing on Saturday, getting in a light game of catch. The Red Sox rotation will feature Rick Porcello, Chris Sale, Steven Wright, Eduardo Rodriguez and Drew Pomeranz to begin the year.

Juan Lagares was forced to leave Saturday's Grapefruit League contest due to a left oblique strain.

Lagares was sidelined earlier in the spring due to back stiffness and now an oblique issue is likely to put his Opening Day in jeopardy. He was expected to serve as the club's fourth outfielder to start the season.

The MRI on the left biceps of Carlos Rodon came back clean on Friday, indicating no structural issues.

The young southpaw will receive a second opinion on Monday, but felt reassured by the results of the MRI. Rodon was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday due to tightness in his biceps. The club will exercise caution with him going forward and he's likely to begin the season on the disabled list, but it doesn't sound like he'll miss a substantial amount of time.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News had reported earlier that the two sides were close to a deal. Heyman also notes that the deal includes an option for a seventh season which could push the total of deal even higher. The 23-year-old was set to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021.
