Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Brewers are "seriously considering a run" at impending free agent Josh Hamilton.

Nice attendance figures the last few years has allowed Brewers owner Mark Attanasio to expand the payroll, which was just south of $100 million in 2012. While they were unable to re-sign CC Sabathia and Prince Fielder, Hamilton shouldn't require nearly as big of a contract. They also have an ace up their sleeve in hitting coach Johnny Narron, who was Hamilton's "life coach'' with the Rangers. The Brewers probably won't be able to compete if the bidding for Hamilton gets too crazy, but they could be players if the price is reasonable.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Brewers have claimed Stephen Vogt off waivers from the Athletics.

Vogt, 32, has batted just .217/.287/.357 this season and hit only .222/.287/.365 in the second half last season. However, he was an All-Star in 2015 and 2016 and is under team control through 2020. With Jett Bandy in a lengthy slump (.151/.240/.247 since May 1), the Brewers felt Vogt was worth a shot. He figures to share catching duties with Manny Pina but looks like a capable second catcher in fantasy leagues now with Miller Park as his new home.

Joey Gallo (hamstring) has been sent back to Texas to be re-evaluated.

Gallo is missing a second straight start with a sore right hamstring. The Rangers are hopeful that he can rejoin the club on Monday in Cleveland, but more will be known after he's examined.

David Vassegh 570 AM in Los Angeles writes that the "indication" is that the Dodgers will place Corey Seager (hamstring) on the disabled list Sunday or Monday.

Seager strained his right hamstring on Friday. It's considered a Grade 1 strain and doesn't look like a long-term ailment, but it appears the Dodgers intend to play things safely here. Mike Freeman has been added to the Dodgers' taxi squad and looks like Seager's replacement on the roster.
Jun 25 - 1:09 PM

Zach Britton (forearm) is aiming to rejoin the Orioles' bullpen on July 5.

Britton has tossed three scoreless innings so far on his rehab assignment with Low-A Delmarva. He'll move up to Double-A Bowie to pitch Monday and Thursday, then go to High-A Frederick and finally to Triple-A Norfolk. Assuming he continues to progress without any setbacks, Britton will be activated on July 5, five games before the All-Star break.
Jun 25 - 12:18 PM

Carlos Rodon (biceps) will rejoin the White Sox' rotation this week.

Manager Rick Renteria hinted Saturday that Rodon was ready to go and he made it official Sunday. It's unclear which day he'll make his 2017 debut, but he would be on regular rest Wednesday against the Yankees. Rodon has been on the shelf all season with left biceps tendinitis.
Jun 25 - 12:12 PM

Matt Kemp (hamstring) has been added to the Braves' lineup on Sunday.

Kemp had been slated to miss a third straight start with a tight hamstring, but he talked his way into the lineup. He's in left field and batting cleanup against Zach Davies and the Brewers.
Jun 25 - 11:50 AM

Miguel Sano (illness) is back in the Twins' lineup Sunday.

Sano had been feeling under the weather. Max Kepler (foot) and Eddie Rosario (illness) are also back in there.
Jun 25 - 11:20 AM

Yunel Escobar (thumb) remained out of the Angels' lineup Sunday.

Escobar is feeling better, but he'll miss a second straight start with a strained left thumb. Kaleb Cowart is at third base.
Jun 25 - 11:12 AM

Jason Heyward (hand) will hit off a tee Sunday.

Heyward took some light swings Saturday and is ready to take the next step. He's working his way back from an abrasion on his right hand and could be activated on Thursday when first eligible.
Jun 25 - 11:00 AM

Kyle Hendricks (hand) played catch Saturday with no issues.

He'll play catch again Sunday. Hendricks had been shut down for the last two weeks with tendinitis in his right hand, but it appears he's making some progress. Obviously, he's at the beginning of his throwing progression, so it still figures to be a couple weeks before he returns even if all goes well.
Jun 25 - 10:59 AM

Nomar Mazara (forearm) remained out of the Rangers' lineup Sunday.

He's missed two straight starts because of a bruised right forearm that came as a result of an Aroldis Chapman hit by pitch. Delino DeShields is in left field and Shin-Soo Choo is in right.
