The Rangers have interest in re-signing Napoli, but weren't comfortable making him the one-year, $13.3 million qualifying offer. The club will not receive draft pick compensation if he signs with another team.

Francisco Cervelli drove in six of the Pirates’ 10 runs Wednesday in a loss to the Tigers.

He reached in four of his five plate appearances, contributing a walk, two singles, a double, a home run and one run scored. Cervelli’s home run was of the three-run variety and came in the third inning off Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann. He also committed a throwing error but we’re sure Cervelli’s fantasy owners aren’t complaining about his afternoon. Cervelli is now tied with Gary Sanchez for the MLB lead among catchers with 18 RBI.

Miguel Cabrera collected four hits Wednesday in the Tigers’ win over Pittsburgh.

Cabrera provided four of Detroit’s 20 hits in a 13-10 slugfest. His afternoon included a single, three doubles, three runs scored and two RBI. Cabrera has erupted over his last seven games, batting .520 with seven RBI during that span. His .329 average for the year ranks 10th-best in the American League.

Jeimer Candelario scored five times while going 3-for-5 Wednesday in the Tigers’ 13-10 win over the Pirates.

Candelario doubled, singled and homered while also reaching base on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error. His lone RBI came in the sixth inning when he launched a solo shot to right field off Pirates reliever Edgar Santana. That was one of four home runs hit by the Tigers on Wednesday. Candelario is beginning his first full season in the big leagues but you wouldn’t know it by the way he’s been hitting. He’s hit .292 in the early going with four round-trippers, six doubles and 11 RBI.

Matt Adams plated six of the Nationals’ 15 runs Wednesday in a win over San Francisco.

Adams entered Wednesday’s action with four RBI for the year. He bettered that in a single afternoon, shredding the Giants for three hits including a three-run homer off Jeff Samardzija. Adams added to the carnage by driving in another two runs in the eighth inning, increasing the Nationals’ lead to 13 (seriously). The three hits Adams provided Wednesday were as many as he had in his previous six games COMBINED. If you were bold enough to use Adams in DFS today, go collect your winnings.
Apr 25 - 7:41 PM

Trea Turner impressed with five hits Wednesday in the Nationals’ blowout win over the Giants.

Turner’s day included four singles, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base. The Nats absolutely slaughtered the Giants in this one, cruising to a season-high 15 runs including six off starter Jeff Samardizja. Wednesday’s outburst raised Turner’s season average from .232 to .267. That’s lower than it should be, though Turner has remained a fantasy asset by collecting 10 steals, which leads the National League.
Apr 25 - 7:38 PM

Jon Gray hurled six shutout frames Wednesday in the Rockies’ win over the Padres.

He racked up 11 punch-outs while allowing just three hits (all singles) and one walk. The right-hander threw 65 of his season-high 101 pitches for strikes. The only time San Diego posed even a remote threat came in the fourth inning when Gray yielded a one-out walk to Carlos Asuaje followed by a single to Wil Myers. The victory ended a three-game slide for Gray, who is now 2-0 against the Padres and 0-4 versus everyone else. The big right-hander will take an ugly 5.79 ERA into his next start Tuesday against the Cubs.
Apr 25 - 7:30 PM

Carlos Correa reached base twice Wednesday in the Astros’ win over the Angels.

Correa walked in the fourth inning and later scored on a bases-clearing double by Alex Bregman. He followed that up in the sixth by ripping a double to right field off Halos right-hander Nick Tropeano. In doing so, he extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Correa’s .341 average through 88 at-bats ranks seventh in the American League.
Apr 25 - 6:06 PM

Jose Altuve slugged his first home run of the year Wednesday in the Astros’ win over the Angels.

Altuve went hitless with a walk in his other three plate appearances. The reigning AL MVP teed off on Nick Tropeano in the sixth inning, extending Houston’s lead to 4-0 by belting a solo shot to left field. Altuve hasn’t shown much power in the early going—Wednesday’s home run was only his fifth extra-base hit of the year—though he’s still hitting for average with a .333 mark through 102 at-bats.
Apr 25 - 6:05 PM

Justin Verlander gave up four hits and two runs over seven stellar innings Wednesday in the Astros’ win over the Angels.

He notched nine strikeouts over his 97 pitches. Verlander had a perfect game going until Zack Cozart broke it up with a two-out single in the fifth inning. He cruised through his first six innings but seemed to run out of gas in the seventh, allowing a solo home run to Albert Pujols and an RBI double to Cozart later in the frame. Including the postseason, Verlander is now 13-1 with a 1.55 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) since joining Houston late last season. Wednesday was the first time the right-hander threw to a catcher other than Brian McCann, who caught all of Verlander’s previous starts with Houston.
Apr 25 - 6:02 PM

Albert Pujols launched his fifth home run of the season Wednesday in the Angels’ loss to the Astros.

The three-time MVP ended Justin Verlander’s shutout bid in the seventh by drilling a solo shot to left field. That marked the 619th home run of his illustrious career. Pujols is now just six hits away from 3,000, a milestone he could reach in the Angels’ upcoming series against the Yankees.

Athletics acquired RHP Wilmer Font from the Dodgers in return for LHP Logan Salow.

Font, 27, was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday after allowing 13 runs in his 10 1/3 innings with Los Angeles. The right-hander has shown swing-and-miss stuff, but he's also shown he doesn't command that stuff very well. Expect him to pitch in low-leverage situations for the Athletics, with an outside chance of making some starts.
