Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com hears that Ricky Nolasco could be the next Marlin traded.

The Marlins are already poised to dump $40 million in salary for 2013 on the Blue Jays, and if they can find someone to take on Nolasco's contract, it would make sense to go ahead and continue the firesale. The right-hander is due $11.5 million in 2013 after posting a 4.48 ERA and 125/47 K/BB ratio over 191 innings in 2012.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News had reported earlier that the two sides were close to a deal. Heyman also notes that the deal includes an option for a seventh season which could push the total of deal even higher. The 23-year-old was set to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021.

Gregory Polanco was scratched from Saturday's Grapefruit League lineup due to left shoulder discomfort.

While it doesn't sound like anything more than a minor issue, it's not the type of thing you want to be hearing so close to the start of the regular season, especially right in the thick of fantasy draft season. This shouldn't impact his availability for Opening Day, but could cause the risk-averse drafters to let him slide a few more picks.

Colby Rasmus (hip) said Saturday that he expects to open the season on the disabled list.

The veteran outfielder, who has been serving as the designated hitter in Grapefruit League play, said he isn't yet comfortable playing in the outfield and that manager Kevin Cash said that's a prerequisite for making the active roster. Even if he starts the season on the DL, it should only be for a week or two.
Mar 25 - 9:26 AM

Bud Norris and seven Angels' relievers combined to no-hit the Mariners in Cactus League play on Friday.

Norris worked two perfect innings to start the game, striking out two in the process. He was followed by Jose Alvarez, Cam Bedrosian, Andrew Bailey, Austin Adams, Drew Gagnon, Justin Anderson and Abel De Los Santos who each worked no-hit innings. Norris now owns a 3.48 ERA on the spring and could conceivably crack the Opening Day roster.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians and Jose Ramrirez have reached an agreement on a four-year, $26 million contract extension.

The deal will also include two club options at $11 million and $13 million respectively. In total, the deal could be worth more than $50 million over the six years and keep Ramirez in Cleveland through the 2023 season. Ramirez hit .312/.363/.462 with 11 homers, 76 RBI and 22 swipes during a breakout 2016 campaign.
Mar 24 - 9:46 PM

Carlos Carrasco allowed one hit and walked a pair over three scoreless innings against the Cubs on Friday.

It was his first Cactus League appearance since he was shelled for eight runs over 1 2/3 innings against the White Sox back on March 13. He had some swelling in his elbow after that, but everything appears on track now. It’s unclear when he’ll make his first start during the regular season, but the Indians could delay his debut until they need a fifth starter on April 15. We should have a better idea about the schedule soon.
Mar 24 - 6:53 PM

Jon Gray exited his start against the Giants on Friday with left foot soreness.

The Rockies' Root Sports broadcast referred to the injury as "very, very mild," so it looks like the club dodged a bullet here. They were certainly due a break when it comes to injuries. Gray should probably be OK to make his next spring start.
Mar 24 - 5:39 PM

Lonnie Chisenhall was pulled from Friday's game against the Cubs with a right shoulder injury.

Chisenhall was hurt when he collided with the outfield wall while trying to chase down a Munenori Kawasaki triple. The Indians are listing him as day-to-day right now, but that might not necessarily mean much until he's evaluated further. They should have more to say after the game is over.
Mar 24 - 5:28 PM

J.D. Martinez will be shut down for 3-4 weeks after being diagnosed with a sprained Lisfranc ligament in his right foot.

Martinez doesn't need surgery, but he'll be in a cast for 7-10 days and won't be ready for baseball activities again until well into April. It will obviously be quite a while after that before he's ready to play in a major league game. Steven Moya is likely to handle right field while Martinez is on the shelf.
Mar 24 - 4:13 PM

The Marlins have named Edinson Volquez their Opening Day starter.

He'll be followed by Dan Straily, Tom Koehler and Wei-Yin Chen. Adam Conley will surely be the fifth starter, but the Marlins surprisingly didn't list him among the starting five yet. It will be the fifth Opening Day start of Volquez's career.
Mar 24 - 3:27 PM

Yahoo Sports' Tim Brown reports that Derek Norris is signing with the Rays.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says it will be a straight one-year contract, although Norris is arbitration-eligible in 2018 so the Rays will have two years of control. Robert Murray of FanRag Sports hears that it came down the Rays and Blue Jays and Norris picked the smaller contract because he thinks he'll have a better chance at playing time in Tampa. He should play pretty regularly with the Rays until Wilson Ramos (knee) is ready for catching duties, which probably won't be for a few months into the season. Norris has solid pop for a catcher but is coming off a season where he put up a hideous .186/.255/.328 batting line.
