Pirates re-signed INF Anderson Hernandez to a minor league contract.

Hernandez, a career minor leaguer, was the defensive player of the year in the International League. He'll look to make the Pirates as a utilityman in spring training.

Carlos Ruiz left Sunday's game with an apparent leg injury.

Ruiz slowed up and appeared to grab at his groin as he went from second to third base in the second inning. The Phillies should provide an update on his status shortly. Erik Kratz took his place behind the plate.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Rangers will call up Jurickson Profar.

Olney isn't sure what the corresponding roster move is, but it's possible Ian Kinsler (ribs) might be placed on the disabled list. Profar got off to a slow start at Triple-A Round Rock this season, but he's coming on of late and is batting .278/.370/.438 with four homers and six steals overall. If it's Kinsler that's headed to the DL, Profar should play every day.
May 19 - 2:12 PM

Bryce Harper (knee) is not in the Nationals' lineup Sunday.

Harper is still feeling banged up from last week's collision with the wall, and his knee appears to be in the worse shape of his various aches and pains. He'll try to return to the lineup on Monday.
May 19 - 1:55 PM

Adam Dunn (back) is back in the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

Dunn left Saturday's game with back spasms, but he's feeling a lot better a day later. The veteran is batting .421/.450/1.158 with four homers and 10 RBI over his last five games.
May 19 - 1:11 PM

Logan Morrison (knee) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Monday.

Morrison has been playing in extended spring training games lately and hasn't had any setbacks with his surgically-repaired knee. With his 20-day rehab clock started on Monday, he'll be activated no later than early June as long as he doesn't have a setback.
May 19 - 1:03 PM

Sunday's game between the Blue Jays and Yankees has been postponed due to rain.

A makeup date has not been announced. The clubs will push back scheduled starters R.A. Dickey and CC Sabathia back a day.
May 19 - 12:41 PM

Andrew McCutchen was scratched from the Pirates' lineup due to pain in his right knee.

It's not clear at this point how McCutchen suffered the injury or if it might cause him to miss additional games. The Pirates should offer an update on his status soon. Starling Marte will move over to center field to cover for McCutchen, while Travis Snider plays left and Garrett Jones right.
May 19 - 11:50 AM

Dodgers activated 2B Mark Ellis from the 15-day disabled list.

Ellis had been scheduled to remain on his rehab assignment through the weekend, but the Dodgers decided to bring him back early since Luis Cruz (elbow) is banged up. The second baseman is hitting second on Sunday afternoon against the Braves' Mike Minor.
May 19 - 11:47 AM

James McDonald (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona on May 27.

That's assuming he gets through bullpen sessions on Tuesday and Friday with no issues. McDonald is slated to go four innings and/or throw 65 pitches for Altoona, so he'll need at least one additional rehab start before being activated. He's not a given to rejoin the rotation once healthy.
May 19 - 11:33 AM

Aramis Ramirez (knee) is not in the Brewers' lineup Sunday.

He's now sat out two of the last four games. Ramirez has five hits -- including two three-run homers -- in the two games he has played during the stretch, but his left knee remains a problem and manager Ron Roenicke anticipates it being one for a while longer. At this point, it doesn't appear that a trip to the DL is in the plans, but A-Ram will continue to see regular days of rest.
May 19 - 11:05 AM

Stephen Drew (back) is sitting out for the second straight game Sunday.

Drew was able to play through a minor back issue on Friday, but the Red Sox don't want to push him. He should be ready to roll again soon. Pedro Ciriaco is getting another start at shortstop.
