Blue Jays acquired SS Jose Reyes, RHP Josh Johnson, LHP Mark Buehrle, INF-OF Emilio Bonifacio, C John Buck and cash considerations from the Marlins in exchange for SS Yunel Escobar, SS Adeiny Hechavarria, RHP Henderson Alvarez, C Jeff Mathis, OF Jake Marisnick, LHP Justin Nicolino and RHP Anthony DeSclafani.

And another Marlins' salary dump is finally official. MLB commissioner Bud Selig took nearly a week to approve the deal but ultimately came to the conclusion that it "does not violate any express [MLB] rule." He did, however, say he would "continue to monitor this situation with the expectation that the Marlins will take into account the sentiments of their fans." The deal, along with the signing of Melky Cabrera, makes the Blue Jays players in the AL East.

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is back in the Dodgers' starting lineup Saturday versus the Mariners.

Puig missed three games while nursing a hamstring injury. Fortunately it wasn't serious enough to land him on the DL. Puig has been boom or bust this year, jacking two homers but also striking out seven times. Carl Crawford will head to the bench with Puig back in the lineup.

Billy Hamilton is day-to-day with a sore groin.

Hamilton tweaked a groin muscle Saturday when he leaped awkwardly over Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams after beating out a hard grounder to second base. The young speedster looked to be in a good amount of pain and can probably be ruled out for Sunday night's series finale in St. Louis.
Apr 18 - 5:37 PM

Carlos Beltran (illness) is not in the Yankees' lineup on Saturday night against the Rays.

Beltran is dealing with flu-like symptoms and might miss Sunday's game as well. The veteran outfielder has produced a weak .184/.238/.289 slash line on the young season.
Apr 18 - 5:27 PM

Matt Holliday (back) is expected to be in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Sunday.

Holliday's back flared up on Saturday afternoon, leading to an early exit. But it's nothing serious and he should be good to go for Sunday night's series finale with the Reds. The veteran slugger is off to a hot start, hitting .364 with a team-high .476 OBP. He'll have a chance to extend his hitting streak to 11 games if he plays Sunday.
Apr 18 - 5:19 PM

As expected, Garrett Richards (knee) will start Sunday afternoon against the Astros.

Richards tore his left patellar tendon last August. It's a welcome return, as the Angels' rotation entered Saturday with the fifth-highest ERA in the American League. Richards enjoyed a breakout season last year, compiling a 13-4 record, 2.61 ERA, and 1.04 WHIP over 26 starts. Expect more of the same in 2015.
Apr 18 - 5:13 PM

Mitch Moreland (elbow) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup on Saturday night.

But he was able to take pregame batting practice, so that's a good early indication that he will be able to avoid minor elbow surgery. Shin-Soo Choo is serving as the designated hitter for Texas on Saturday against the Mariners and Carlos Peguero is in right field. Moreland can be considered day-to-day.

Court documents show Josh Hamilton has filed for divorce from his wife Katie in Tarrant County, Texas.

Hamilton filed for divorce in late February, around the same time reports surfaced of his latest drug relapse. Hamilton was able to avoid suspension from Major League Baseball, much to the chagrin of his own team. The Angels don't want to pay the underachieving 33-year-old outfielder and have been publicly feuding with him since the spring. He hasn't even been healthy enough to play thanks to a shoulder injury. Los Angeles' five-year deal with Hamilton is looking worse by the day.
Apr 18 - 5:01 PM

Danny Salazar racked up 10 strikeouts over six innings as he defeated the Twins in his season debut on Saturday.

The young right-hander surrendered two runs on six hits and a pair of walks on the afternoon. The Indians are committed to keeping Salazar in the rotation and he showed a glimpse of why that is with this terrific start. He'll look to keep things rolling when he takes the ball against the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.
Apr 18 - 4:50 PM

Jose Abreu blasted a grand slam home run on Saturday, helping to power the White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

Abreu's slam came as part of a seven-run fourth inning that chased Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez. He would also add a single and a double in the rout, finishing the afternoon 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored. He's now hitting .250/.302/.550 with three homers and six RBI on the young season.
Apr 18 - 4:26 PM

Alcides Escobar (knee) is not in the Royals starting lineup on Saturday.

Escobar strained his knee Friday when Oakland's Brett Lawrie took him out with a hard slide at second base. Christian Colon will fill in at shortstop. Escobar was off to a good start before the injury, hitting .326 with seven runs and five RBI. Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 18 - 4:20 PM

Josh Donaldson blasted a walk off home run leading off the tenth inning on Saturday, propelling the Blue Jays to a 6-5 victory over the Braves.

Donaldson belted his first two homers of the season on Friday and carried that power surge right over through Saturday's contest. He finished the afternoon 3-for-4 and also scored a pair of runs, and is now hitting an impressive .340/.396/.596 with 10 RBI on the year.
