Royals signed RHP Jeremy Guthrie to a three-year, $25 million contract.

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reported the contract information. Guthrie will make $5 million next season, $11 million in 2014 and $9 million in 2015. The Royals were reportedly unwilling to offer more than two years, but they ultimately caved to keep him in the fold. Guthrie earned the big payday after posting an impressive 3.16 ERA and 56/19 K/BB ratio over 91 innings after coming over from the Rockies in July. He'll be at the front of the Royals' rotation next season along with recent acquisition Ervin Santana.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Rangers have "tabled" extension talks with Jonathan Lucroy.

Wilson also had nothing to report on talks with Yu Darvish. Without extensions, both players will hit the market next winter. The two-time All-Star hit .267 while splitting time with Buster Posey behind the plate for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic. He'll earn $5.25 million in the last year of his deal.

Kennys Vargas will undergo more testing on his bruised left foot.

Vargas fouled a ball off his left foot in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. He's been getting around on crutches and still can't put any weight on his foot. "I can’t imagine him being ready here too quickly," said manager Paul Molitor. Vargas' availability for Opening Day looks to be in doubt.

ESPN Red Sox reporter Scott Lauber confirms David Price (elbow) will likely be out until May.

It's the clearest timeline we've gotten on Price, who remains out indefinitely after hurting his elbow early on in camp. Price finally resumed throwing on Saturday, getting in a light game of catch. The Red Sox rotation will feature Rick Porcello, Chris Sale, Steven Wright, Eduardo Rodriguez and Drew Pomeranz to begin the year.

Juan Lagares was forced to leave Saturday's Grapefruit League contest due to a left oblique strain.

Lagares was sidelined earlier in the spring due to back stiffness and now an oblique issue is likely to put his Opening Day in jeopardy. He was expected to serve as the club's fourth outfielder to start the season.

The MRI on the left biceps of Carlos Rodon came back clean on Friday, indicating no structural issues.

The young southpaw will receive a second opinion on Monday, but felt reassured by the results of the MRI. Rodon was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday due to tightness in his biceps. The club will exercise caution with him going forward and he's likely to begin the season on the disabled list, but it doesn't sound like he'll miss a substantial amount of time.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Rougned Odor are in agreement on a six-year, $49.5 million contract extension.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News had reported earlier that the two sides were close to a deal. Heyman also notes that the deal includes an option for a seventh season which could push the total of deal even higher. The 23-year-old was set to be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and a free agent in 2021.

Gregory Polanco was scratched from Saturday's Grapefruit League lineup due to left shoulder discomfort.

While it doesn't sound like anything more than a minor issue, it's not the type of thing you want to be hearing so close to the start of the regular season, especially right in the thick of fantasy draft season. This shouldn't impact his availability for Opening Day, but could cause the risk-averse drafters to let him slide a few more picks.
Mar 25 - 10:45 AM

Colby Rasmus (hip) said Saturday that he expects to open the season on the disabled list.

The veteran outfielder, who has been serving as the designated hitter in Grapefruit League play, said he isn't yet comfortable playing in the outfield and that manager Kevin Cash said that's a prerequisite for making the active roster. Even if he starts the season on the DL, it should only be for a week or two.

Bud Norris and seven Angels' relievers combined to no-hit the Mariners in Cactus League play on Friday.

Norris worked two perfect innings to start the game, striking out two in the process. He was followed by Jose Alvarez, Cam Bedrosian, Andrew Bailey, Austin Adams, Drew Gagnon, Justin Anderson and Abel De Los Santos who each worked no-hit innings. Norris now owns a 3.48 ERA on the spring and could conceivably crack the Opening Day roster.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians and Jose Ramirez have reached an agreement on a four-year, $26 million contract extension.

The deal will also include two club options at $11 million and $13 million respectively. In total, the deal could be worth more than $50 million over the six years and keep Ramirez in Cleveland through the 2023 season. Ramirez hit .312/.363/.462 with 11 homers, 76 RBI and 22 swipes during a breakout 2016 campaign.

Carlos Carrasco allowed one hit and walked a pair over three scoreless innings against the Cubs on Friday.

It was his first Cactus League appearance since he was shelled for eight runs over 1 2/3 innings against the White Sox back on March 13. He had some swelling in his elbow after that, but everything appears on track now. It’s unclear when he’ll make his first start during the regular season, but the Indians could delay his debut until they need a fifth starter on April 15. We should have a better idea about the schedule soon.
