According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Red Sox are open to trading Andrew Bailey.

This would be an odd time to deal him, as Bailey's trade value is likely pretty low after he was limited to just 19 games this season due to a thumb injury. Odds are the Red Sox won't actually go through with a swap unless they get blown away by an offer. Bailey made $3.9 million this season and is under team control through 2014.

Dustin Pedroia (knee) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Pedroia's removal from Thursday's game with a sore left knee was deemed precautionary, but the club has decided to rest him for at least one start. Josh Rutledge is at second base.

The first game of Friday's doubleheader between the Tigers and White Sox has been postponed due to rain.

The nightcap is still scheduled to be played, but they'll now try for a doubleheader on Saturday. Buck Farmer and Mike Pelfrey had been slated to start the afternoon game, and it's unclear whether they'll be pushed back to the night game or moved to Saturday.
May 26 - 3:11 PM

Daniel Murphy is not in the Nationals' lineup Friday.

Ryan Zimmerman is also getting a day off. The Nats are going with Wilmer Difo at second base and Adam Lind at first.
May 26 - 3:05 PM

Andrew McCutchen is batting sixth for the Pirates on Friday versus the Mets.

It's the first time in his career that he's hit any lower than cleanup. McCutchen is in an 11-for-70 tailspin at the plate that's dropped his season line to .203/.274/.360. He faces the tall task of trying to snap out of his funk against Jacob deGrom.
May 26 - 2:55 PM

Christian Yelich (hip) is back in the Marlins' lineup Friday.

Yelich hasn't played since exiting Tuesday's game with right hip flexor tightness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. He's in center field and batting third against Jesse Chavez and the Angels.
May 26 - 2:50 PM

Brewers activated RHP Junior Guerra from the 10-day disabled list.

Guerra will rejoin the Brewers' rotation on Friday versus the Diamondbacks after missing about seven weeks with a strained calf. The right-hander might be on a bit of a pitch count Friday and doesn't have a great matchup, so he's not the best streaming option.
May 26 - 2:00 PM

Brewers placed OF Ryan Braun on the 10-day disabled list with a left calf strain.

Braun returned Sunday from a minimum DL stay with a calf injury but then aggravated the ailment Thursday. How long he'll be sidelined this time around remains to be seen, but it's safe to say the Brewers will opt for a more cautious approach. Hernan Perez figures to be an everyday outfielder while Braun is out.
May 26 - 1:55 PM

Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California reports that Sean Manaea will move up to start Friday versus the Yankees in place of Kendall Graveman.

Stiglich adds that Jharel Cotton is a possibility to be recalled to start Saturday in what had been Manaea's slot. It sounds like Graveman may be dealing with an injury, although it's unclear at this point what it is. He spent time on the disabled list last month with a shoulder issue.
May 26 - 1:14 PM

The Blue Jays will activate both Josh Donaldson (calf) and Troy Tulowitzki (hamstring) before Friday's game against the Rangers.

Toronto has been playing better in May and will get the left side of their infield back for the beginning of a 10-game homestand, so things are looking up at the moment. Donaldson has been sidelined since April 14 and Tulowitzki has been on the shelf since April 21.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that the Giants optioning Christian Arroyo back to Triple-A Sacramento "seems to be on the table."

Arroyo is 6-for-49 with 12 strikeouts in his past 13 games, dropping his batting line with the Giants to .191/.242/.304 across 115 at-bats. The youngster has popped three homers and played well defensively, but the Giants have to make room for Aaron Hill (forearm) and Conor Gillaspie (back) soon and the move that might make the most sense is sending Arroyo back to the minors for more seasoning. The picture could change if Eduardo Nunez's hamstring injury is worse than expected, but right now the hope is that he'll be ready to play Friday.
May 26 - 10:51 AM

Tom Murphy (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week.

Murphy's recovery from a hairline fracture in his right forearm and wrist has come along more slowly than expected, but obviously he's made nice progress of late. Considering how long he's been sidelined, Murphy's rehab assignment figures to be a pretty lengthy one. Still, he's a guy worth stashing now if he was dropped in your league.
