Rangers non-tendered 1B Brandon Snyder.

The 26-year-old Snyder held his own, hitting .277/.309/.446 with three homers and nine RBI in 65 at-bats with the Rangers in 2012. He'll be an intriguing option for team's looking for depth at the position.

Wilson Ramos (head) expects to return to the Rays' lineup by Wednesday.

Ramos will sit out Tuesday after requiring six staples on his head to close a laceration suffered when he was hit by a shattered bat. Evidently he's not experiencing any concussion symptoms and the cut must be relatively minor, which is great news.

Randal Grichuk homered for the fourth straight game Monday as the Cardinals beat the Rockies.

It was a two-run opposite-field shot in the bottom of the fourth inning off Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela. Grichuk has put on a power show lately, but he still holds a rough .227/.280/.458 overall batting line in 2017 and can't be counted on for much consistency down the stretch.
Jul 24 - 11:09 PM

Justin Bour (oblique) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Bour suffered a strained right oblique on Monday. It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but oblique injuries typically don't result in minimum stays on the disabled list. Tyler Moore will be in line for more starts at first base.
Jul 24 - 11:07 PM

Giancarlo Stanton launched two more homers Monday in the Marlins' 4-0 defeat of the Rangers.

Stanton opened the game's scoring with a two-run shot in the top of the first inning off Rangers starter Martin Perez, and he added a solo blast in the top of the eighth off reliever Jeremy Jeffress. The 27-year-old slugger is up to 32 home runs on the season -- just six away from a new career high.
Jul 24 - 10:54 PM

Adrian Beltre went 4-for-4 in the Rangers' loss to the Marlins on Monday.

Beltre singled in all four of his trips to the plate, though he finished with zero runs scored and zero RBI in Miami's 4-0 blanking of Texas. The 38-year-old third baseman now has 2,993 hits for his career -- seven away from 3,000.
Jul 24 - 10:48 PM

Kevin Gausman struck out eight batters over six shutout innings Monday in the Orioles' 5-0 victory at Tampa Bay.

Gauman issued three walks and surrendered five hits, but he kept the Rays from doing any meaningful damage. The 26-year-old right-hander has now put together two excellent pitching lines since Orioles manager Buck Showalter suggested that he might be on the verge of a demotion to the minor leagues. He still has an ugly 5.79 ERA and 1.72 WHIP for the year.
Jul 24 - 10:27 PM

Roberto Osuna earned his 25th save with a dominant ninth inning Monday as the Blue Jays topped the Athletics 4-2.

Osuna struck out all three batters he faced on 16 total pitches. The 22-year-old right-hander has surrendered just one run since the first week of June and he boasts a 2.01 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and 56/4 K/BB ratio through 40 1/3 innings this season.
Jul 24 - 10:10 PM

Carlos Santana homered twice Monday in the Indians' 6-2 victory over the visiting Reds.

Santana drew a walk and scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning before belting solo shots in the seventh and eighth. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored in the game, continuing his productive July. The 31-year-old first baseman is capable of a real second-half surge.
Jul 24 - 9:56 PM

Justin Bour was lifted from Monday's game against the Rangers with a right oblique strain.

He evidently must have suffered the injury during his plate appearance in the first inning when he grounded into a double play, as he was pulled for a pinch hitter during his next scheduled at-bat in the fourth. The Marlins are calling Bour day-to-day for now, but that could just be a general diagnosis until he's further evaluated. More information on Bour's status might be available after the game.
Jul 24 - 9:52 PM

George Springer departed Monday's game against the Phillies with discomfort in his left quad.

It's unclear when Springer suffered the injury or whether it could potentially be more than a day-to-day situation. The Astros will have an update on their star outfielder after the game.
Jul 24 - 8:12 PM

Johnny Cueto (blisters) could throw a bullpen session Tuesday.

Cueto played catch again Monday and it appears his blister issues have healed for now. The veteran right-hander is expected to rejoin the Giants' rotation before long, although it's unclear whether he'll need a rehab start first.
