Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers have offered Scott Hairston a two-year contract.

The Tigers are looking at him as a potential platoon partner for Andy Dirks in left field. Hairston is also reportedly drawing interest from the Yankees, Giants, Cardinals and Indians.

Patrick Corbin struck out 12 batters over seven scoreless frames against the Pirates on Friday, but was forced to settle for a no-decision.

The 12 strikeouts matched a career-high. Corbin allowed just three hits (all of them singles) and didn’t walk a batter. He racked up 25 swinging strikes in his 102 pitches, most of them coming on his slider. Corbin’s season has been moving in the wrong direction for a while now, so this was nice to see. Fantasy owners will have to hope that he can keep it going in a favorable matchup against the Marlins next week.

Shane Bieber was dominant in Friday's victory over the Tigers, racking up a career-high nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings.

Bieber allowed just four hits and one walk over his seven brilliant frames. Through his first three starts, he now boasts a 2.45 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. It's probably time to start taking him seriously from a mixed league perspective. He'll do battle against the Cardinals his next time out in St. Louis on Wednesday.

J.D. Martinez knocked in five runs while going 4-for-5 with a homer and three runs scored in Friday’s wild 14-10 win over the Mariners.

Martinez got the Red Sox on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning before slugging a two-run shot in the fourth. He knocked in two more runs with a single in the seventh. He’s now at 60 RBI, three more than anyone else (Eugenio Suarez with the Reds) and he’s tied with Mike Trout for the MLB-lead with 23 homers. Oh, and he’s also batting .324/.393/.644 on the year. He’s been just about everything the Red Sox could have hoped for and then some.

Nelson Cruz went 4-for-5 with two homers and seven RBI as the Mariners fell to the Red Sox on Friday.

Cruz connected for a pair of three-run homers (in the first and fourth innings) and also drove in a run with a single in the second. According to Rotoworld’s Matthew Pouliot, Cruz is the first player since J.P. Arencibia (July 29, 2014) to drive in seven runs in a game his team lost. The veteran slugger has hit safely in six straight games and now finds himself tied for fourth in the majors with 20 homers.

Odubel Herrera had four hits and scored four runs while homering in his fifth straight game Friday against the Nationals.

Now that's a monster day. Herrera kept the streak alive with a two-run blast against Tanner Roark in the third inning. His other three hits fell for singles. The power is understandably getting most of the attention, but Herrera is also piling up the hits in general. He’s hitting .472 (17-for-36) over his last eight games. His batting average has soared from .283 to .308 during that time.

Xander Bogaerts was removed from Friday's game against the Mariners with a sprained left index finger.

He sustained the injury while sliding head first into second base. The severity of the injury remains unclear at the moment, but the Red Sox should provide an update on his status after the conclusion of Friday's game.

Cody Bellinger slugged a monstrous grand slam to lead the Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Mets on Friday.

His sixth-inning second deck blast off Zack Wheeler proved to be the difference in the ballgame. It was his second career grand slam. Bellinger has been pretty quiet since homering in four straight games earlier this month, but he’s now up to 13 homers on the year to go along with a disappointing .232/.323/.459 batting line.

Franklin Barreto had the best day of his young MLB career on Friday afternoon, blasting a pair of three-run homers as the Athletics routed the White Sox 11-2.

The 22-year-old smashed a three-run homer off of James Shields in the second inning to increase the A's early lead to 4-0. He then tacked on an additional three-run bomb off of Luis Avilan in the eighth to help put the game away. He finished the day 2-for-4 with six RBI and is now slashing .217/.250/.309 with three homers and nine RBI in his first 24 plate appearances at the big league level this season. While he's been impressive the last few days, he's only up to fill in for the injured Matt Chapman and is expected to head back to Triple-A Nashville in short order, limiting his fantasy appeal.

Roberto Osuna was suspended for 75 games, without pay, for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

The suspension is retroactive to his arrest date of May 8, which means that he'll be ineligible to return until August 4. Osuna's next scheduled court date is on July 9 where he plans to plead not guilty. Ryan Tepera will continue to fill in as the Blue Jays' closer for the time being.

Michelle McPhee of ABC News reports that Hanley Ramirez is "being eyed in connection with an ongoing federal and state investigation."

There are no other details available at this time, but the report helps to explain why Hanley has remained a free agent nearly four weeks after getting cut loose by the Red Sox. The 34-year-old former All-Star was batting .254/.313/.395 through 44 games this season with Boston. He's still owed around $14 million in the final year of a four-year, $88 million deal.
Jun 22 - 5:58 PM

Clayton Kershaw (back) will return to the Dodgers' rotation Saturday against the Mets.

Kershaw had been scheduled to make a minor league rehab start Saturday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, but that team is playing a weekend series in Omaha, where there is heavy rain in the forecast. The ace left-hander will instead jump right back into major league action, with a pretty favorable matchup versus the free-falling Mets. Kershaw has been limited to 49 innings this season due to back and biceps issues. When healthy, he has delivered a 2.76 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 53/11 K/BB ratio.
