FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks have been involved in trade dialogue involving Jason Kubel.

There's been plenty of speculation about the future of Justin Upton, but Rosenthal hears that the D-Backs has had at least as much trade talk about Kubel. The 30-year-old outfielder batted .253/.327/.506 with 30 homers and an .833 OPS this past season and is under contract for $7.5 million next season with a $7.5 million mutual option for 2014.

Robinson Chirinos (forearm) could be ready for activation from the 60-day disabled list when first eligible on June 9.

That comes from beat writer Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Chirinos was given a recovery timetable of 10-12 weeks when he underwent surgery for a broken right ulna on April 11. He'd be coming in two weeks ahead of that. It's a promising injury update for a Rangers team that needs promising injury updates.

Reds purchased the contract of RHP Daniel Wright from Triple-A Louisville.

Wright will make his major league debut Tuesday night against the Dodgers and could stick around for a while if things go well. He was sporting a brilliant 0.79 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and 32/5 K/BB ratio through 34 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A, but the 25-year-old former 10th-round pick faces a tough task at Dodger Stadium and can probably be ignored for now in most fantasy leagues.
May 24 - 5:54 PM

Jason Kipnis is getting the day off Tuesday.

Jose Ramirez will start at second base and bat second versus White Sox left-hander Chris Sale. Kipnis is slashing .255/.276/.345 against lefties this season and .294/.353/.487 against right-handers.
May 24 - 5:28 PM

Ian Kinsler was scratched from the Tigers' lineup Tuesday due to flu-like symptoms.

Mike Aviles will start at second base and Cameron Maybin will bat leadoff versus Phillies right-hander Jeremy Hellickson. Kinsler is considered day-to-day.
May 24 - 5:17 PM

Padres activated RHP Andrew Cashner from the 15-day disabled list.

Cashner will start for the Padres on Tuesday night against the Angels after missing the last three weeks with a strained right hamstring. The right-hander registered an underwhelming 4.93 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 28/14 K/BB ratio over his first 34 2/3 innings this season.
May 24 - 5:10 PM

Jose Bautista's appeal of his one-game suspension will be heard this Thursday.

Bautista will remain active until that ruling comes down. He was handed the one-game sentence on May 17 for his role in a May 15 on-field melee with the Rangers. "Joey Bats" is at leadoff for Toronto on Tuesday night against Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.
May 24 - 5:08 PM

Giants placed OF Angel Pagan on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Pagan strained the same hamstring in early May and wound up spending two weeks on the Giants' active roster as an inactive player. This time the club has decided to go ahead and put him on the disabled list. Jarrett Parker was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding roster move.
May 24 - 5:02 PM

Mike Moustakas (knee) is out again Tuesday.

Moustakas suffered a knee contusion in his collision with Alex Gordon on Sunday and has now missed two straight games. Cheslor Cuthbert is at third base and Whit Merrifield is at second base on Tuesday night against Twins right-hander Ervin Santana.
May 24 - 4:58 PM

Brian Dozier is on the bench again Tuesday.

Dozier is stuck in a nasty slump and batting .199/.284/.318 in 151 total at-bats this season. Eduardo Nunez will start at second base and bat leadoff for the Twins on Tuesday night against Royals righty Edinson Volquez.
May 24 - 4:54 PM

Jordan Zimmermann (groin) will try to throw long-toss on Friday.

And if it goes well, he could try throwing off a mound on Sunday. Zimmermann was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain of his right groin muscle after making an early exit from his start Sunday against the Rays. A disabled list stint is still a real possibility.
May 24 - 4:40 PM

Rockies activated LHP Jorge De La Rosa from the 15-day disabled list.

De La Rosa will return to the Rockies' starting rotation Tuesday night at Fenway Park after missing the last four weeks with a strained left groin. The veteran southpaw had a 10.18 ERA and 2.07 WHIP over his first five appearances this season and makes for an awful fantasy streaming option against the dangerous Boston offense.
