Diamondbacks selected RHP Starling Peralta from the Cubs with the 14th pick in Thursday's Rule 5 Draft.

Peralta had a 3.44 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 86/42 K/BB ratio in 99 1/3 frames this summer at Class A Peoria. The 22-year-old is doubtful to stick with the Diamondbacks.

Hanley Ramirez was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to flu-like symptoms.

With Ramirez being scratched late, Travis Shaw shifts over to first from third. Josh Rutledge is the other domino, here, taking Shaw's place at third base. Shaw is hitting sixth and Rutledge is hitting seventh. Consider Ramirez day-to-day moving forward. The Red Sox do not have an off day on Thursday and could give the slugger another day off if he is still feeling queasy in 24 hours.

Dae-Ho Lee went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-8 win over the A's.

After the A's took an 8-4 lead in the fifth inning, Lee was instrumental in sparking the big comeback. He would crack a solo homer as part of a two-run sixth, then one-up himself in the seventh with a two-run tater. That shot would push the Mariners to a 9-8 lead, which would stand as the final. The 33-year-old slugger from South Korea doesn't play every day, but through 32 major league at-bats, he is slashing .281/.343/.656 with four homers and six RBI.
May 4 - 7:10 PM

Felix Hernandez struggled in earning a no-decision against the A's in Wednesday's 9-8 win, yielding eight runs (four earned) on nine hits over four-plus innings.

Hernandez blanked the Royals into the eighth inning in his last start, but he found no such smooth sailing on Wednesday. It all fell apart rather quickly, too. After allowing solitary runs in the third and fourth innings, the veteran ace trotted back out to start the fifth inning to less than stellar results. The A's opened the frame with four consecutive singles, which were then followed up by a pair of run-scoring errors on the parts of Hernandez and Kyle Seager. King Felix ceded the mound to Vidal Nuno at that point, with Nuno allowing the final two runs on his line. Despite the rough outing, Hernandez still holds a 2.21 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 29/18 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings. A road tilt with the Rays shows next on his schedule.
May 4 - 6:50 PM

Tyler Chatwood pitched marvelously in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Padres, tossing eight innings of shutout ball.

Chatwood allowed just three hits on the afternoon. He also struck out seven against one walk in what was an ultra-efficient outing. The 26-year-old right-hander finished his eight innings having thrown 99 pitches (61 strikes). Relying on anybody in the Rockies' pitching staff for fantasy purposes carries its own set of risks, but there is no denying Chatwood's overall body of work. Through 37 2/3 innings, he holds a 2.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27/8 K/BB ratio. Up next on his schedule, a home showdown with the Diamondbacks.
May 4 - 6:23 PM

Garrett Richards (fatigue) will see a doctor.

Richards was battling with signs of dehydration this past weekend and MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez relayed earlier on Wednesday that hard-throwing right-hander "seems questionable" for his scheduled start on Friday. Richards, himself, indicated that he continues to feel fatigued. His visit to the doctor should help shed light on his short-term starting status.
May 4 - 6:03 PM

Daniel Murphy finished 4-for-5 with three RBI in the Nationals' 13-2 rout of the Royals on Wednesday.

Murphy hit a two-run double -- his 10th double of the year -- in the Nationals' six-run first inning, singled and scored in the Nats' four-run third inning, slugged a solo shot in the fourth inning, and then singled again for good measure in the sixth. Murphy has ridden his remarkable 2015 postseason into a fantastic opening month of 2016, now with a .398/.449/.663 batting line, four homers, 17 RBI, and 17 runs scored in 26 games.
May 4 - 5:43 PM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that early June would be the "best-case scenario" for Scott Van Slyke's return to action from a back injury.

Van Slyke has been doing exercises to strengthen his core, but he has yet to resume baseball activity. He hit the disabled list in early April with lower back tightness. The 29-year-old outfielder is a strong option against southpaw pitching when he is healthy. Once he has been cleared for baseball activities, we should have a more concrete idea of his recovery timetable.
May 4 - 5:28 PM

Bryce Harper slugged his 10th home run of the season on Wednesday afternoon against the Royals.

Harper opened the game's scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to center field, kicking off a six-run frame for the visiting Nats. The 2015 National League MVP then went deep off Dillon Gee for a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning. He's sporting a 1.021 OPS on the season, even after wading through a mini slump last week.
May 4 - 5:25 PM

Joe Smith earned his second save of the season Wednesday in the Angels' 7-3 defeat of the Brewers.

Smith worked both the eighth and ninth Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee, yielding just one hit and striking out two. He carries huge fantasy potential while Huston Street (oblique) is out, and Street could be out a while.
May 4 - 5:20 PM

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Garcia is dealing with a tweaked hamstring suffered on Friday against the Orioles. After several days of rest, he had been hoping for a return to the lineup on Wednesday. The White Sox play the Red Sox again on Thursday and Garcia could conceivably crack the lineup for that one if the team feels comfortable with his health.
May 4 - 4:44 PM

Jon Lester tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday in the Cubs' 6-2 victory over the Pirates.

Lester ran into a couple of jams, yielding eight total hits and walking two, but he did a fine job of damage control as usual on the way to five strikeouts. The left-hander is now 3-1 with a 1.58 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 38/9 K/BB ratio in 40 innings this season for the first-place Cubs. He will take on the punchless Padres at home next time out.
