Padres acquired RHP Wilfredo Boscan from the Rangers.

The 23-year-old righty is the player to be named later in the trade that sent reliever Cory Burns to Texas. Boscan had a 3.75 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 89/28 K/BB ratio in 98 1/3 innings this past season at Double-A Frisco.

Jim Henderson earned his ninth save of the season as the Brewers beat the Dodgers 5-2 on Tuesday.

Henderson's save capped off a total of 5 2/3 scoreless innings from the Milwaukee bullpen. He surrendered a hit and a walk but struck out the other three batters he faced and now boasts a 0.95 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 23/5 K/BB ratio in 19 innings this season. The right-hander has been a waiver wire gem so far and should be a steady fantasy closer all year.

Rafael Betancourt had to leave Tuesday's game with an apparent injury.

Betancourt entered the game in the top of the 10th but had to leave before throwing a pitch. He has been nursing a leg ailment recently, though it's not clear if that's what forced him from the game. The Rockies should offer an update soon, but fantasy owners would be wise to scoop up Rex Brothers just in case.
May 21 - 11:44 PM

Dan Straily held the Rangers scoreless over seven innings as the A's beat the Rangers 1-0 on Tuesday.

After struggling through five starts Straily twirled a gem Tuesday, allowing just two hits in his seven innings. More notably, the right-hander didn't walk a batter after issuing 12 free passes through his first 26 innings. He'll try to keep the ball rolling Monday against the Giants.
May 21 - 11:42 PM

Trevor Plouffe left Tuesday's game in the 10th inning after taking a knee to the head.

Plouffe was sliding into second base to break up a double play when Dan Uggla's knee caught him in the head. The third baseman was able to walk off the field without assistance but appeared to be a little woozy. He'll no doubt undergo concussion tests.
May 21 - 11:41 PM

Matt Garza didn't get a win but was great in his season debut Tuesday, holding the Pirates scoreless on one hit and three walks over five innings.

Garza also struck out five on the night. With his pitch count of 90 approaching, he was removed to start the sixth, and the Cubs' bullpen promptly coughed up his 3-0 lead by giving up a five-spot. Garza will have a tougher matchup this weekend in Cincinnati, but he appears safe to use in fantasy leagues right out of the gate.

Ryan Howard went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the Phillies' 7-3 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Howard did it without the use of the longball, using three singles to plate the runs. The three RBI raised his count to 25 on the year, and he's got a .256/.292/.436 batting line. More importantly, he seems to be mostly healthy after playing just 71 games last season.
May 21 - 11:21 PM

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Orioles will call up Kevin Gausman to make his major league debut on Thursday against the Blue Jays.

The report has been confirmed by multiple outlets. Manager Buck Showalter previously indicated that it would be either T.J. McFarland or Jake Arrieta that would start on Thursday, but apparently that won't be the case. The No. 4 overall pick in last year's draft, Gausman has been dominant in eight starts at Double-A Bowie this season, posting a 3.11 ERA and 49/5 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings. He's worth scooping up in all fantasy formats.
May 21 - 10:57 PM

Kelly Johnson hit his eighth home run of the season on Tuesday to help the Rays beat the Blue Jays 4-3.

After a down year in 2012, Johnson is now hitting .273/.345/.508 on the year with eigh home runs and 25 RBI. The 31-year-old has seen time at second base and in the outfield this season, and his versatility means he's in the lineup more often than not. He looks on track for a bounceback season.
May 21 - 10:49 PM

Chris Dickerson had an infield single and a pair of solo homers in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Phil Hughes was the victim of both bombs, serving up the dingers in the third and fifth innings. Dickerson and Nate McLouth were the offensive heroes for the O's, as McLouth slugged a walk-off solo shot in the 10th to break the team's six-game losing streak. Dickerson has seen a little more playing time of late and is now batting .371 over 15 games.
May 21 - 10:46 PM

Bud Norris left Tuesday's start against the Royals following six scoreless innings after aggravating his back injury.

Norris was originally supposed to start Sunday after leaving his previous outing with back spasms but was pushed back just in case. Obviously, it appears that he's not over the ailment. The righty gave up just five hits and two walks over six frames before exiting Tuesday. The Astros should provide an update on his status after the game.
May 21 - 10:29 PM

Max Scherzer dominated the Indians over eight innings Tuesday, allowing just one run in the Tigers' 5-1 victory.

Scherzer allowed just two hits on the evening, striking out seven. After a first-inning run, the right-hander kept the Indians under wraps. The win moved him to 6-0 on the year, and he's got a 3.61 ERA and 0.91 WHIP through nine starts. His next start will come Sunday against the Twins.
