Marlins signed OF Jordan Brown to a minor league contract.

Brown hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2010, when he posted a weak .582 OPS in 26 games with the Indians. He's doubtful to make an impact for the Fish.

David Price (elbow) will make his season debut Monday against the White Sox.

Price got knocked around in Wednesday's rehab start for Triple-A Pawtucket but his velocity was good and the Red Sox obviously feel comfortable enough to slot him back into their starting rotation. The former Cy Young winner won 17 games and was one of the league leaders in strikeouts last year but it came with one of the worst ERAs of his career (3.99). The Red Sox could sure use another innings-eater with Drew Pomeranz struggling and Steven Wright (knee surgery) out for the year.
May 25 - 4:47 PM

Thursday's game between the Reds and Indians has been postponed due to rain.

Mike Clevinger and Tim Adleman had been the scheduled starters. Presumably, they'll be pushed back a day. The game will be made up July 24 at 7:10 PM ET.
May 25 - 4:40 PM

Mets activated SS Asdrubal Cabrera from the 10-day disabled list.

Cabrera missed a little less than two weeks with a sprained thumb. He's not starting Thursday night's game against the Padres but will be available off the bench. Cabrera carries a .257/.339/.381 slash line with three homers, 14 RBI and three steals this season.
May 25 - 4:19 PM

Jacob deGrom's scheduled start Thursday against the Padres has been pushed back to Friday.

With storms in the forecast for Thursday night, the Mets don't want to risk wasting deGrom's turn with an abbreviated start. Instead, deGrom will start Friday's series opener at Pittsburgh. Rafael Montero will make a spot start Thursday at Citi Field, assuming the game goes on as planned.
May 25 - 4:16 PM

Edwin Diaz got the ninth for the Mariners on Thursday and pitched a scoreless inning with a two-run lead for his eighth save.

Diaz seems to be back in the closer's role after just two appearances since losing the job last week. He's not a sure thing at this point and it'd certainly be for the best if he could go a couple of weeks without a blown save, but especially since no one else really stepped up, it should be fine to drop any other Seattle relievers in mixed leagues.
May 25 - 3:58 PM

Jay Bruce (back) is in the Mets' starting lineup on Thursday night against the Padres.

Bruce sat out Wednesday after making an early exit Tuesday with stiffness in his back. It clearly wasn't anything serious. The veteran outfielder is hitting .250/.331/.513 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI in 41 games this season.
May 25 - 3:58 PM

Cameron Maybin left Thursday's game against the Rays with soreness in his right knee.

Maybin was 1-for-3 before getting replaced in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hopefully it's nothing too serious because he's been in a terrific groove offensively over the last 10 days. Ben Revere took over in center field. Mike Trout started the game at DH.
May 25 - 3:54 PM

Carlos Correa is in the Astros' starting lineup on Thursday against the Tigers.

Correa was given a couple days off with a minor illness. He is starting at shortstop and batting cleanup on Thursday night against Detroit right-hander Justin Verlander.
May 25 - 3:38 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera (thumb) could be activated ahead of Thursday night's game against the Padres.

Cabrera showed up at Citi Field on Thursday afternoon after going 2-for-5 on a two-game minor league rehab assignment with High-A Binghamton. The shortstop has been on the disabled list since May 13 because of lingering soreness in his left thumb. There should be something more official soon.
May 25 - 3:25 PM

Eduardo Nunez (hamstring) has been scratched from the Giants' lineup Thursday.

Nunez tweaked his left hamstring on Wednesday night and the Giants want to play it safe. It doesn't sound like something that will require a lengthy absence. Christian Arroyo is starting at third base now in the matinee game against the Cubs.
May 25 - 12:13 PM

DJ LeMahieu is out of the Rockies' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Phillies.

It looks to be a routine day of rest. Alexi Amarista will start at second base and bat seventh for the Rockies against Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez.
