Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that there has been "modest progress" in extension talks between R.A. Dickey and the Mets since the end of the Winter Meetings.

Martino says the Rangers are willing to trade prospect Mike Olt for Dickey, but that the Mets are holding out for more. If that's the case then it's hard to see a trade happening, as it's doubtful New York can do any better. Though it could certainly still go either way, there appears to be more momentum for a Dickey extension than a trade.

Jake Lamb (foot) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

It's not clear how many rehab games he'll need, but Lamb has been sidelined for six weeks so it figures to be a handful. The 24-year-old has been on the disabled list since April 21 with a left foot injury. He was batting .414/.514/.690 with one homer and nine RBI through his first 10 games.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin confirmed that Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) will be sent to the bullpen when activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Pomeranz was up-and-down in his time in the rotation before going on the DL, posting a 4.40 ERA over eight starts. Kendall Graveman has pitched pretty well since rejoining the rotation and the A's have decided to stick with him. Pomeranz can be dropped in shallower fantasy leagues.

Kevin Pillar went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI as the Blue Jays topped the Nationals on Tuesday.

It was a rare offensive outburst from the outfielder, who entered Tuesday's game with a .321 slugging percentage. His first home run was a solo shot to break up a 0-0 tie in the second inning. His second put the Jays up 4-3 in the sixth inning. Pillar is up to four home runs on the season with 21 RBI and a .234/.273/.360 triple-slash line.
Jun 2 - 10:18 PM

Ben Zobrist walked and hit a grand slam in five plate appearances Tuesday, helping send the Athletics past the Tigers on Tuesday.

Zobrist sent an Angel Nesbitt offering to right field for a four-run four-bagger. He had been scuffling at the dish in six games since his activation from the disabled list. He's batting .243/.305/.419 on the year with a pair of home runs and 14 RBI.
Jun 2 - 10:02 PM

Marcell Ozuna hit a bases-loaded double and finished 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Marlins beat the Cubs 5-2 on Tuesday.

Ozuna came up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning and cleared them with his 10th double of the year. The runs batted in were his first in more than a week, giving him 18 RBI on the year. Ozuna hasn't found the power stroke yet this year, hitting .272/.329/.372 overall.
Jun 2 - 9:56 PM

Clay Buchholz pitched brilliantly on Tuesday, racking up eight scoreless innings in a win over the Twins.

Buchholz scattered three hits (all singles) and a pair of walks while striking out eight. It's the latest in what has been an elite stretch of pitching. In his last five starts, Buchholz has a 1.95 ERA and a 30/8 K/BB ratio in 37 innings. Overall, he's lowered his ERA to 3.82 with a 1.21 WHIP and a 70/18 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings. He matches up with the Athletics at home in his next outing.

Ricky Nolasco (ankle) is not expected to make his next scheduled start on Friday against the Brewers.

Nolasco is dealing with a right ankle impingement, an ailment that forced him from Sunday's outing. An MRI revealed no structural damage and he's hoping to avoid a disabled list stint, but he won't be ready Friday. More will be known about the right-hander's status when he throws a bullpen session Thursday. J.R. Graham is an option to make a spot start Friday.
Jun 2 - 9:25 PM

Lucas Duda (knee) is back in the Mets' lineup Tuesday.

Duda was hit in the right knee by a pitch Sunday and was too stiff to start Monday. He's back out there Tuesday, though, against Ian Kennedy and the Padres.
Jun 2 - 6:45 PM

Jorge Soler will undergo an MRI Tuesday on his ailing ankle.

The results are expected on Wednesday. Soler hurt the ankle when he landed awkwardly running to first base on Monday night. The Cubs haven't ruled out a potential stint on the disabled list.
Jun 2 - 6:24 PM

Padres activated 1B Yonder Alonso from the 15-day disabled list.

Alonso missed nearly four weeks of action with a right shoulder injury, but he played in six rehab games with no issues. The first baseman was off to a .333/.427/.437 start this season before going on the DL.
